Dravid out again in 30s.
I just hope India dont play silly like the 1st innings now. Shoaib is getting good swing we should play him safely then runs will come from weaker bowlers.

Situation: India require another 32 runs with 7 wickets remaining
A fine partnership from Tendulkar and Ganguly topped off a perfect fourth day from start to finish for the Indian Test team. At the beginning of the day, 161 runs ahead, Pakistan would have been looking to set India a total in the 250-300 region but it were not to be as a mixture of poor shot selection and comical running had Pakistan bundled out for 247, setting India a modest 203 to win.. Special mention once again to Anil Kumble who took 3/68 off his 27.1 overs.
India started nervously as Dinesh Karthik edged a late outswinger from Shoaib Akhtar to the ‘safe’ hands of Kamran Akmal. Bowling with pace and swing on the dead track, Shoaib Akhtar touched speeds as high at 153kph but all to no avail as Wasim Jaffer and Rahul Dravid put on 82 for the second wicket. Disregarding the thoughts of the English speaking commentators, Wasim Jaffer used the pull shot to great effectiveness against Sohail Tanvir; unfortunately, pulling Shoaib Akhtar proved a far trickier task when he hit one to Salman Butt at forward square leg; having to dive low to his right with just three quarters of a second to react, Butt pulled off a magnificent catch to dismiss Jaffer for 53.
Rahul Dravid fell soon after to a late inswinger from Shoaib Akhtar which beat Dravid’s usually impenetrable defences to hit the leg stump via the small space between bat and pad. At 93/3, both teams realised that the next partnership would prove vital to the outcome of the match. With contrasting innings, Tendulkar the tortoise and Ganguly the hare put on a match winning 78 – unbeaten at the end of the day’s play when the batsmen chose to go off for bad light at 16:30 local time. It will take a miracle for Pakistan to pull the match out of the bag and the Indians would think they’d merely have to turn up in order to clinch the First Test match at Delhi.

Awesome day for india. would have been nice if we sealed the match today itself but tendulkar was too slow. i was impressed with the way ganguly played. his technique against short ball is always questioned but he keeps getting runs. pakistan threw away their wickets earlier but the way india have batted we would have chased 250 too.

Unfortunate that Ganguly couldn't complete his half century, but still a comprehensive win for India. Kumble picks up the Player of the Match award for his 7 wickets in the match. Overall a good team performance, but I'm sure India could have won much earlier if they didn't let the advantage slip on more than one occasion.

Overall a Good Test; Both the teams were really tough to compete and it was great on India's part to win the Test match comprehensively.
It will definitely boost-up their confidence
Happy for Anil Kumble for winning his first test match as Captain and picking up the MOM award

Comfortable win for India. The master blaster was on fire today. Pakistan are in big trouble for whole series only shoaib akhtar took all the wickets and they dont have asif too.
Bad news for India too that RP and sreesanth are injured

Needing just 32 more runs for victory on the fifth day of the First Test at Delhi, Sachin Tendulkar took the initiative and scored at a run a ball to bring up his fifty and take a 1-0 lead in the 3 match series for India.
Early in the day, Sourav Ganguly fell two short of his fifty, attempting to pull a short one from Shoaib Akhtar but it took just 6.2 overs for Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman to wrap up the victory.
The second Test is expected to be blighted by injuries as the first was. Shoaib Malik has been taken for precautionary X-rays on his ankle and both Mohammad Asif and Umar Gul are doubtful for the second Test. India are too plagued by injuries with Sreesanth and RP Singh both confirmed as out of the second Test.

fine win for india but need some thinking to do before the next match. since rp and sree wont be available for next match and munaf wasnt too impressive in the second innings i think pathan deserves a recall. harbhajan wasnt too impressive either, the wickets he got were more as a result of the batsmans mistake.

I think Munaf should be recalled. He bowled with good pace up at about 135-140kph at times and managed to extract seam movement. He just happened to bowl short on a very slow pitch, the length and line he bowled in the First Test would have given him three or four wickets in the match on another pitch.

I think akhtar has fever because of fatigue. Malik is also injured. Pakistan are having a lot of problems. I hope RP singh is fit for the second test.

Both RP and Sreesanth will have fitness test before the 2nd Test begins. I'm not sure if they will be fit because they were ruled out of the second test a while ago, but maybe things have changed since then. I think even Dhoni is having some fitness problems. He was wearing a brace in his ankle in the 1st test because of the injury he picked up in the fifth ODI.
