Post Pictures of your Kit!

Re: Post Pictures of your Kit!

2 days, cracking service.

I'll post a picture of my new stuff tommorow, had to re-order my bag and gloves today, so went to Barringtonsports instead, cheaper than Cricketsupplies, and free delivery. The top of the range Woodworm Gloves are only £4 more expensive but I prefer the Premier ones, much better looking than the Prestige ones. KP uses the Premier ones aswell. Hopefully my 360'll sell soon aswell, means I might be able to get my new bat, pads, helmet and Aero P1's soon into the season.

Re: Post Pictures of your Kit!

id like to know what the aero p1's are like if you get some, have been thiking about getting some for myself for a while now

Re: Post Pictures of your Kit!

Alright guys, just joined up the other day, thought I'd get a picture of my bat up. Grade 2 English willow got it for about £90 on sale. It's nice and light (don't like heavy bats at all).. and it needs a bit more knockin in I think, few too many seam marks. Have a look =)

I'm also probably gonna do another sand and oil on it just before the season

Re: Post Pictures of your Kit!

My Woodworm Gold Wheelie's come :D It's damn massive, absoloutely swamps my cheap Slazenger holdall. Here's a few pics of it, with my sweatbands included in the 2nd pic;

Bag open with all equipment inside
Top of the bag, with sweatbands
Side of bag with Woodworm Logo

What you think ? It's much better looking than I thought it was on the pictures on the net. The gold logo's are really shiny and it looks really well made. The amount of space inside is incredible aswell, really like it. Now i just need to fill it with some Woodworm kit :D

Re: Post Pictures of your Kit!

No opinions on the bag ? Ah well, my gloves which arrived today, they're so meaty and comfortable. The extra weight helps balance the bat aswell which makes the bat feel lighter and more manouverable I think, I can definitely notice the difference when compared to my old gloves. Can't wait to use them tommorow night at nets.

Re: Post Pictures of your Kit!

Haha, no, it's just that the camera on my phone is awful :p. I've got some good pics of my gloves on my phone, so i'll upload them once my Sister gets back with my PC cable. They really show the difference between my Predator 5* gloves and my new WW Premiers.

Re: Post Pictures of your Kit!

Another double post, sorry.

Here's the pictures of my new gloves, love them:

I love the comparison with my GN Gloves, makes them look tiny, they really pale in comparison, the protection on the Woodworm gloves is far, far better. Well chuffed with my purchase, can't wait to use them.

Re: Post Pictures of your Kit!

Right, I got a new bat today and here it is. It's a Kookaburra Angry Beast and it only cost £130 so I'm fairly chuffed with that. The guy in the shop said I should only knock it in for about 2 more hours and only on the edges and toe. He said I should leave the middle as is to get the best out of it. Any views on this??

Most splices (the 'V' area) are a different shade as they tend to be made out of a different material from the blade of the bat.

This is very much up to you but I would personally knock the face in for about 4 hours. Though it's perfectly fine not to knock a bat in you do leave the wood very soft and susceptible to seam marks, cracking and in the worst case scenario, bits lifting or breaking off. It's also worth pointing out that Kooks are notorious for being pressed soft so often need more prep than other bats.

Nice gloves - see what you mean about the chunkiness!

Re: Post Pictures of your Kit!

I'd knock it in a lot longer than 2 hours and do it all over, But it's already taped - wont that be affected if you start knocking it along the edges?

Re: Post Pictures of your Kit!

That's the splice of the bat used to join the handle to the blade. As far as I know, it's the same piece of wood as the handle so the shade doesn't have much to do with the shade of the wood in the blade. I'm no expert though.

Tape has no real effect on knocking in the bat.

Re: Post Pictures of your Kit!

Ok, I think I'll take you advice and go for about 4 hours all over the face, concentrating on edges and the toe still though (as per the video from GN).

It does have an anti-scuff sheet fitted so that should stop lifting and cracking shouldn't it??

Thanks for the help guys.

Re: Post Pictures of your Kit!

The anti-scuff sheet will help to protect the face a fair bit. It could be said that with it on the 2 hour advice is valid but I would take into account the fact that it's a Kook which can be soft.

You're not going to do any major damage by knocking in for a few hours but give it two then play a few strokes against an old ball, if you still get seam marks give it another hour and so on until you pretty much stop getting seam marks (you'll always get the odd or two).

Re: Post Pictures of your Kit!

Ok, I'll go for 2 hours then a go with an old ball and see how it goes.

Does 'over-knocking-in' do anything bad to a bat??

Re: Post Pictures of your Kit!

Not that I know of, at the very worst in an extreme case it might deaden it but I think that is very unlikely to happen. You'd need to be doing 12 hours plus at least.

Re: Post Pictures of your Kit!

the reason he said dont knock the middle in is just to keep that liveliness in it, I read that basically you can knock it in and it will lessen the chance of a breakage, but it does deaded in (as mas said..), but edges and toe are pretty important.. probably round off the shoulder tips too.
