You are absolute disgrace Hobsons Bay City Council for failing to put down the covers at all also didn't even touch the wickets & also it failed to prepare the wicket at both Frank Kirk Oval & JK Grant Reserve in Altona for the second week of the round 4 encounter between Altona & my lot (Hoppers Crossing) which is under official protest from Hoppers Crossing & also in dispute in both the 1st XI & 3rd XI.

As that our fixture yesterday was washed out in the 2nd week in very very controversial circumstances after that when VSDCA wet weather committee told them to put down the covers and do so from Tuesday Night as that our (Hoppers Crossing) 1st XI captain/coach was absolutely furious on arrival at the ground at the state of the wicket at Frank Kirk Oval as was our club president is actually very very confident we'll win the hearing when that happens thus possibly stripping Altona of three competition points (1st XI & 3rd XI) and thus Hoppers Crossing gain an extra three points (1st XI & 3rd XI).

Are you certain it was Council's responsibility to lay the cover given the relevant VSDCA by law requires the home club to provide all labour for the laying and removal of the cover? Any club that has its cover handled by Council together with having its pitch prepared by it is becoming increasingly rare. Over this side of town, Maribyrnong City Council ceased preparing pitches 13 years ago, Brimbank City Council has never prepared them and Melton C C is also responsible for preparation of its pitches.
Being in Maribyrnong, Footscray Edgewater C C is responsible for pitch preparation and the club's coach also curates Merv Hughes Oval whilst a past president of the club curates the Tony Dodemaide Oval. Given most of these facts are probably known to the VSDCA, I suggest it will be loath to take issue with Hobson's Bay Council if, in fact, there is an issue involving Council.

Mid afternoon torrential rain Saturday created havoc for teams in the search of 6 points. None more so than Williamstown who only needed 1 more wicket against Taylors Lakes to get the 6 points. Other teams impacted across both comps and likely to go on to win were Brunswick, Yarraville, Ivanhoe, Oakleigh and Caulfield. Great efforts by some clubs to lock away the points in time for the rain and an early finish! Altona/Hoppers game sounds like a debacle

Yes, ''debacle'' is the appropriate description it would seem. In due course, I will be particularly interested to know which party was responsible for the laying of the cover but, allegedly, did not exercise it. It is not an area of which I am familiar given voluntary curators are only needed in municipalities where Councils do not prepare pitches. Your club was stiff in not being able to force a win!

To make matters worse for Williamstown, it happened in the 2nd XI as well.

I think itd be good if subbies copied the premier fixturing, its so hard chopping and changing format, so far we've 2 x T20s, 1 x one dayer and 2 and half x two dayers all mixed together. If we can have our white ball cricket first up, with the mid-week t20s and then leave the two-dayers till either just before xmas or after would be much better. Even copying the white ball ladder and red ball ladder would be much more interesting

I note Altona remaining on 15 pts and Hoppers on 9 pts after rd 4 is now official. I assume the protest referred to by Brenton Ray was unsuccessful.

And if I've read the fixture correctly, Round 2 which is next Tuesday (Dec 5) reads:
Brunswick v Plenty Valley
Yarraville v St Bernards
Hoppers Crossing v Altona
Caulfield v Kew
Moorabbin v Elsternwick
Oakleigh v Endeavour Hills
Box Hill v Croydon
How does the fixturing for this comp work? Some clubs get a pretty reasonable run at it.
