Unfortunately,it seems cricket in the northern suburbs is in decline across the board.

In another thread it was mentioned they have withdrawn their Firsts and Seconds from the competition, and will now only play a one day team. What a fall from grace.A timely reminder of exercising care managing covers in windy conditions was evident for all to see at the WACA on day 5. It was reported in yesterday's H/S that curator Matt Page was sent to hospital with concussion after wind lifted a tarpaulin and knocked him over.
On another topic, it was not so long ago RPBroady hosted a subbies finals match, yet, it fofeited in at least 2 of its teams in the final round in the VTCA before the the Christmas break and possibly in its one-day Sunday team as well, there being no results to date posted for that match. It must surely be concerning for the likes of Mitch Streiff and his dad, and others, to see their former club in such decline. I have no idea of the cause. I hope it can be saved from oblivion.
Anyone know what happened at Ivanhoe yesterday, match abandoned???
My mail is that the pitch was not ready for play at 1pm due to rain the previous day. Then, one umpire refused to wait around for further inspections causing play to be abandoned against the wishes of both sides. If that mail is accurate, you would hope the umpire responsible is permanently "rostered off".
I think after this round it will either become clearer or even more close in the S/E. Elsternwick v Box Hill, Ormond v Brighton, Croydon v Malvern and Balwyn v Bayswater are all 50/50 at the moment. As much as I think Caulfield has one foot into the GF, whose brave enough to name the final 6 for North/West and South/East?

A bit easier to guess in the N/W, top 5 is pretty secure in my eyes, with Ivanhoe, Yarraville and Altona to fight out for the 6th spot.
