Am fine for an old fart thanks mate.

A more realistic selection would be to give Konstas an international debut in the upcoming India A series. Pick anyone other than Harris to open in the Tests.

Yeah mate Harris is not much chop and Steve Smith can't handle opening at all so there's a vacant spot for this kid to grab and excel if he's as good as they say he is.

I'd have him over the other three candidates, Bancroft, Renshaw, Harris, specially against the strong India pace attack. Not sure why Whiteman never gets a mention. More solid than those three.

Yeah I think Smith still works out better for us than any other candidate atm

I much prefer him in his usual position at number 4, he looks really uncomfortable as an opener especially when a new ball is whizzing around him.

Marcus Harris shouldn't even be in a Shield team let alone the Test team. The bloke is the worst opener I've seen play for Australia and I've been watching the sport since I was barely out of nappies in the late 80's.

Harris is one of the best shield openers for the last decade so that’s very very harsh to say he shouldn’t be in a shield team.

I agree though I’d rather see Lyon and Hazlewood open the batting before Harris steps back into the test squad.

Doc the guys thrives on 'roads' to get these huge shield scores that keep his name in front of Test selectors. His problem is converting that form into Test runs. Yet he continues to be picked. I agree with Sharkman , he is the worst opener I have seen bat for Australia.

Nah I get that he’s been absolutely horrible with Australia and makes most of his runs at the flat junction oval ground.

But regardless of how far he should be from the national team he still deserves to be in the Victorian one.

I dont disagree with that. But please CA instruct curators to prepare fair contest pitches to have the bowler in the f game. Expecting grassier decks next round after all three games were drawn.

Actually to be honest with you I liked those pitches as far as developing players goes. (Except for the vic v Tas one that was too flat)

The other 2 would would have ended if there had of been a 5th day. Again barring the Victoria game, good batsmen scored runs and good bowlers took wickets.

Could afford to be a little more bowler friendly I guess but those 2 were actually quite balanced pitches in my opinion.

I am with you, the other two were result pitches up till the final day. Compare how many runs were scored to wickets taken to win those draws.

Has McSweeney now put up his name for a possible middle order Test spot, continuing on from a good last season.

Dropped you a post over on the new thread.

I do rate McSweeney, he hasn’t blown the competition out of the water like Green or Pucovski. But he’s been very consistent and has often scored very clutch innings for a few years now.

Australia’s newest batting prodigy, Sam Konstas, 19 is about to be put on the path to the Test team by being named today in the Australia A squad for the upcoming two, 4 day Tests against India A. I expect to also see middle order specialist Nathan McSweeney make the squad and late blossoming all rounder Beau Webster. Like to see Jhye Richardson get the nod too now he is fit again. Injury will rule out Aaron Hardie and Spencer Johnson tho.

Is he the young fast bowler nicknamed wild thing?
