The BaggyGreens Thread

Cameron Green has officially decided to have surgery on his back. So he’ll probably be out of the side at least for the summer.

The cricket.com.au article states he has a defect in his spine that’s contributing to the stress fracture which sounds very interesting.

I definitely think he’s made the right decision, he could have a very very good career if he stay in 1 piece.

I reckon Cameron Green deciding to have back surgery is the best thing for his career. He is still a young dude with plenty of years left to make his mark in the game as one of the greatest all rounders in history, or batsmen if he gives away the ball.

He’s been directly quoted saying he wants to be a genuine allrounder and will only consider dropping bowling right at the end of his career.

Only been back in FC cricket for two years after missing 5 with a dicky ankle that would not heal. I rate this guy big time but due to his injury background I see him only playing white ball internationally.

Another thing that concerned me when he played shield was while he did exceptionally to pick up 2 first innings 7 wicket hauls, both times he then failed to take a single wicket in the second innings.

I read that too. But that was before this latest back stress fracture. May have a big bearing on him giving away bowling to preserve his body for batting.

Honestly I don’t see him changing that view. This is his first back injury since before he made his international debut.

The fact he’s going straight to this surgery is a sign that he does want to keep bowling.

Yeh, what is that telling us. He lacks stamina or perhaps a killer instinct?

The other lefty I rate is Liam Haskett, was only quick to take multiple poles in the last CA X1 series.

It seems to be an issue with a lot of South Australian bowlers, other than Jordan Buckingham who I do really rate. Nathan McAndrew also, but I don’t rate him much for some inexplicable reason.

With Johnson, because he’s not a medium pacer that’d completely lack that killer blow. I honestly think he might be a bit of a new pitch bully when it’s still seaming and swinging a bit.

I also really like the look of Haskett, he just needs to actually get a game .

Lanky guys always seem to have back issues. Bruce Reid was another west aussie who's career was cut short because of back problems.

Is a Vicco. Could not get a game with them so looked interstate. A very consistent specialist seamer.

Seems to have a little bit of a hot head too which isn’t a bad thing. Although he’s gotten himself into a bit of trouble following through intentionally into batsmen running between wickets in grade matches.

Can be a little bit of a dickhead but he has a very good Aus A record so wouldn’t mind him being close to the national side.

List of CURRENT WA bowlers with frequent injuries:

Just to name a few.

Yeh, only played 6 shield matches for 20w at a respectable @24. That was what twigged the CAX1 selectors to his promise. Bafflingly he has not played for the Warriors since. I still call em that.

Respect for calling them the Warriors.

His issue is that WA have Jhye Richardson, Joel Paris, Lance Morris and Cam Gannon in the way.

I rate him more than Gannon, but apparently he’s at the bottom of the pecking order for some reason.

Seems to pick up wickets at a pretty similar rate regardless of what the wicket is doing. Good kind of bowler to have.

Could this be because of playing your formative years on the hard WACA. That is an exceptional list of guys from the same state with the same injury background..

I honestly just think we’re made of glass over here. Not sure why, maybe inbreeding. We are pretty isolated.

Thankfully I’m yet to have a serious injury, touch wood.
