Re: Western Suburbs Churches Cricket Association

I've only watched on while WDCA games were going on, and i'm not interested in getting into a shit fight, but the standard isn't so good that the Willy Congs would struggle if they merged with St Johns plus a managed a couple off season recruits. A premiership? Never a given. But I'd put money on them playing an influential role in finals. I'd probably put money on them even without the merger.

Re: Western Suburbs Churches Cricket Association

Hey Bi Cog and others just joined up been keeping an eye on all you comments etc, one thing firs the rules are there for everyone to see most comps have that rule no result then top teams advance I accually lost a grand final like that we were in a winning position and lost because of bad weather and that was in the VTCA so it does happen you just accept the decision and move on but that doesnt excuse som moron digging up a pitch. Anyway not sure what Melton centrals are doing but Melton South I presume we are still going up to turf next season, that depends on what actually is happening with the turf, wickets and water etc, and the name calling like soft cocks from yourself and others is unwarranted. We always believed we would not return to turf without a premiership in A Grade as you are aware we failed misserbly in both the grand finals previously to this season to be out played by a better team on the day. We know we can be competitive next season in turf as we had a number of junior players come up last season to play A grade. looking forward to the challenge next season and I think instead of all the bickering we should be working together to play some good cricket on on good wickets, by all your and others remarks the Turf wickets havent improved any, its a bit rediculous when batsmen are still struggling on slow wickets around the end of November and even during Jan, Feb March etc.I think we should be concerntrating on the water issues we will have in the future and come up with ways to combat them. Good luck to all teams and clubs doesnt matter what you decide or where you decide to play, just remember to do the best for your members they are the ones who count, Thats what we have done the the last 2 seasons and I belive we are a better and stronger and close knit club. Kind regards

A.B. there Arrogance knows no bounds.
just a bunch over overated egos playing in a every day suburban comp with very good players scattered thruout some decent sides.
not a team of guns amongst any of the sides.
GO CONGS!!!!!!!!!!

Yes... Which is why I'm a little astounded by WDCA claims that they wouldn't be particularly competitive in B-Turf.

i can report that the congs are back from tassie safe and sound. quite a few sore and sorry heads but they will survive. a couple of fantastic efforts have to mentioned in the drinking area : macca best on ground, complete staying power. started on wednesday and contiued right through the weekend. - gary griffen 2 votes, sensational performance from the old dog, mid 40's and 1st trip in about 7 or 8 years, showed the young boys how its done. - 1 vote was a little hard to pick out with a few putting their hand up, but i think ben the inhailer gets the vote. starting off on wednesday night downing a slab, yes a slab, of ouzo and coke before even getting on board the plane to tassie. continued all weekend but lost votes because of the friday night spew, and what a great 1 at that. sorry if you missed out on votes but maybe next year you can step up another level. special mention has to go out to benny b who managed to spew in bed and didn't even realise till someone woke him in the mornig. great weekend lads.

now merger between congs an st johns is news to me, so i think that i can safely say that its just a rumor. i know congs are as strong as ever financially, and with 4 senior and 3 junior teams, on field looks great too. also st john are a proud club and maybe struggling for numbers now, but i'm sure will push through and continue to be around for a long time yet.

finally the topic about congs winning only 2 games in willy b turf. not sure about the standard in that grade and dont want to sound arrogant, but i can safely say that the congs will be aiming for nothing less than finals in its 1st year and a premiership in the 2nd year. but time will only tell and untill then, lets just see what happens.

Dan Temby is a very good cricketer, mater of fact he is probably the best allround cricketer in the comp but if any club was to pay him $6000 would be paying way over the odds.

it is a lot of money to offer one player. do roosters want to shell out that much? I doubt that too.
