Why would we drop our 2nd turf side.... when we can offer 22 blokes to play turf. and just look how we picked up players for that reason.....as far as melton south if they would grow some BALLS and play real cricket no-one would be talking about dropping us....

how many players did you pick up??? you guys gave a walkover in c grade so it looks like your recruiting drive/poaching didnt quite work out as well as you thought, looks like you've lost players. and your 2nd turf side got flogged, yet again, by a weaker melton side. looks like another year of floggings and outrights for your 2's. it'll work wonders for your club and players, teach them that losing mentality and culture that breeds so well at your club:p

Thank you once again 1 short for taking the opportunity to Pot the Roosters.
I would like to set the record straight because it is easy for a back seat driver to be negative.
We were the only club with the courage to put our seconds into turf for the future growth of turf in the churches comp rightly or wrongly however know one at our club believes it was a bad desicion.
We at the Roosters in consultation with the players are of the opinion that the best way to grow our talent is to give them as much experience on turf as possible. We believe in allowing players to grow & developn the harsh world of firsts turf we have some young developing cricketers that will come on leaps & bounds due to there exposure to high quality high pressure cricket.;)
WE ALSO GIVE 22 CRICKETERS A GAME ON TURF EVERY WEEK. yes we are a few players shot of a decent team but by now means are we defeated. We look adversety staight in the eye and keep moving forward. we may loose a battle hear and there but i assure you we will not loose the war.
MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL IF YOU ARE A DISGRUNTLED PLAYER NOT GETTING A GAME IN TURF AND BELIEVE YOU SHOULD BE IN THE ONES REMEMBER WE HAVE 22 SPOTS AVAILABLE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR TALENT.
THE GLASS IS ALWAYS HALF FULL AT THE ROOSTERS.
OHH 1 short your diatribe should be directed at teams that dominate a matts but fail to move and prefer to be big fish in a small pond.
ROOSTERS MOVING FORWARD!!!!! GO US!!!!!

Re: Western Suburbs Churches Cricket Association

look mate doesnt matter about our c grade the fact that you cant get over is that we have two turf sides and thats the way it will stay. see ya champ

Re: Western Suburbs Churches Cricket Association

Hey One Short

You can keep saying what ever you want at the Roosters while u hide ur name and be a coward you are and slag many people off who u dont know on face value yer 1 game in our 2nd turf team was beaten easily so u decide to hang more shit on your just got no balls and think your sogood running your mouth off on a web site what hero and gun cricketer you are how about u come forward with you ur real name u just low life person and probley a an average cricketer too Im a new player at Roosters and we are trying to do our best and help develop some young kids what one game and u wanna slam us im sure if ur side gets beat we will here every excuse but u low life who has no balls wont share his name or club cause ur making you self look like a dickhead and ur club a joke

Re: Western Suburbs Churches Cricket Association

You know it makes me happy that everyone at our club is backing our 2nd side. But what is better is the fact that some people are bagging us. Thats great just keep pushing. You all tried last year, OH and we made a GRAND FINAL IDIOTS. Anyway that is beside the point, what really is going on is the fact that we have lost a few players to higher cricket and that is why we are going with 2 teams in turf. If we can develope 1 good cricketer to play higher cricket we have done our job. Now as for those who dont wont a bye I suggest you look toward Melton "NO BALLS" South who should come UP or be told to find another comp. Caroline Springs hope they improve and become more competative.

Well said Tram. I am not from the Roosters, but I am happy for the Roosters to hav 2 Turf sides. Melton " THE SOFT C--KS" South should be made to come up or else they should be kicked out of the comp.

Re: Western Suburbs Churches Cricket Association

Are there any other grades in this association, or is there only the turf grade:confused:

- Melton South won again easily in A grade - can anyone shed any light on why they are not playing turf?
- Kingsville Baps B grade showed some improvement
- Heke from roosters should force his way into one of the roosters turf teams with his 160 odd
- St Andrews Hodgart made a good score could also force his way into the turf team

Is Michael O'Toole playing for St Andrews??

Re: Western Suburbs Churches Cricket Association

hahaha, where do i start? BIG COQ, you're right about 1 thing. you guys did put your hand up and play your 2s in turf last season, well done, but no 1 else was asked to enter a 2nd team. so get off your high horse about having courage and all that. if your club was looking out for the good of the association then you would have pulled your 2s out this season and not been so selfish. BANK MAN, how your tune has change in 1 week. last week you were bragging about how you guys have picked up soooo many players, now you dont even care about your team mates playing in c grade. its all about your 2 turf sides. im sure the guys that missed out on a game of cricket do care, and they are the 1s that keep clubs going, not the best players, but are there every week supporting their club. TRAM, sounds like you're happy just to make the granny. its all good and well making it but you gotta win it champ. you achived the same as every other team bar st johns...NOTHING. whats more you went through the pain of losing a granny. oh thats a shame. i never knew that altona roosters is the breeding ground for international superstars. NATHAN, now you pal need to go back to school. what are you going on about??? it took me awhile but i did make some sense out of your mumbo jumbo. if you're nathan moon from willy congs, i wouldn't be shooting my mouth off too much talking about average cricketers. you left a club to go to roosters play in their 2nds and 3rds, not sure why you would do that unless it was because you knew you wouldn't be playing 1s at congs??? must not like a challenge. and to all of you at roosters, i keep hearing young kids and young talent being brought through the 2nd side but as i go through your team i see some very old names. maybe young at heart but not of age.

Re: Western Suburbs Churches Cricket Association

Re: Western Suburbs Churches Cricket Association

S'cuse my ignorance what with being a Pom - what's a turf ground? What surfaces are you blokes playing on out there?

And didn't this thread start off with something about Church based cricket and it's now decended into a 4 letter word slanging match?

Church is only in the name as it was tradition back in the 1950's and 1960's that each club had to be affiliated with a local church. The players also had to attend church. THe Association Committe have kept the name as tradition and it keeps the older administrators happy because they can say their prayer at the association meetings. Other than that its a good local cricket comp Pommie.

Re: Western Suburbs Churches Cricket Association

Welcome aboard Moons...
1 short your opinions matter for little but shows you are bitter and twisted. Put on the whites our perhaps you lack heart, its hard not being in control hey. Maybe if you care about the comp you could get involved and change thing instead of sitting in the bleachers and snipping the compand club you know little about.
I would like to set the record straight and move on and spare this blog for some light hearted banter for witch it is intended.
The reason we put our Amatts into Turf was due to the fact that Caroline Springs, Altona Sports & Melton South would not come up. We were competiveve against all these sides and even beat the eventual Premiers C/S at there home ground chasing down 280+.
We were asked about putting a second side in rather than have 5 teams playing or worse still playing a compesite format now that would have been a step backwards.
This year we were asked again we said yes all players felt it was the way too move forward for all involved. It is the comps responsibility to get the balance right with all grades not ours.
yes we do have kids short one 5 22 & under a few over the hill but still some fight in the old dogs yet time will tell who is right if i recall last year we pushed some sides as the season progress and definetly did not finish last.
Short one i will sling an arow your way you should be more concerned with your own club they were the front runners of the comp all season but failed when it mattered most the buisness end of the season, this could tear at the moral fibre of a club creating self doubt, disalusionment, back bitting etc i suppose that what you get when you pay peanuts MONKEYS. if i am not mistaken we made THE GRANNY and we never hit our straps all season or proceded to contrive results we acted with INTEGRITY! you know what that does for a team it gives as Desire, Will, Self belief, Vision and most of all unity. We will continue to strive to be the best we can be. you can sit on the bench and tell your tales of the good old days.Get of the bench and do something or just shut up short one.

Re: Western Suburbs Churches Cricket Association

Well thats the beauty of playing churches we can always repent on sunday if were not playing of course. Amen.
Sledging is jst part of the culture. Go hard or go home simple. Leave it all on the field then catch up and have a beer after the game. To easy.
