We've been having freezing rain and snow but no deep freeze actually. Temps were between zero and -4°. Now the next days will be colder but that's better than those treacherous icy conditions and sleety rain.You got that right! My feet have been freezing and it takes ages to warm them up again

I never said I dislike all idioms. I use the above quite a lot. Means to think laterally.
