Havent heard this one, he also coached Deerpark Ardeer.

Re: Williamstown and District Cricket Association (WADCA)

anyone heard any news on Matt Baker apparently he is playin divi 2 down at newport rams, and he is unhappy and wants out, he has been contacted by a few teams about a possible trade, no word is out as of yet though regarding which clubs

Re: Williamstown and District Cricket Association (WADCA)

Yeah he did coach deer park/ardeer and look where they are no,
went to newport rams at the start of last season and look where they are going.
not sure what the rams were thinking about picking him up.

not happy about the rain today. there was some big cricket today. the whole comp would have got a wake up call. yes im talkin about G.U

willi colts are no where near good enough yet. today would have been the only day to beat G.U, still a few injuries at that club.

i cant see anyone beating G.U in the finals this year, especially colts beating them in a 4 day game

Re: Williamstown and District Cricket Association (WADCA)

norb wats divi 2?
do u mean b turf?
newport rams have
A turf
C turf and B matting.
havent heard about the kid though.
any good?

Re: Williamstown and District Cricket Association (WADCA)

made a few runs of late.
needs to find his feet in a turf though.

rams a-turf are really bad. why isnt he playing in their ones?

Re: Williamstown and District Cricket Association (WADCA)

A turf Ladder After rd 7

Colts 43
GU 40
Wynhamvale 27
Digman 21
ANA 21
IMPS 19
Hoppers 18
Lavo 15
Gellibrand 15
Rams 3

With only 4 games to go, the finals race is on. Had a look at the fixtures and some interesting games lay ahead for the teams in contention for a finals birth..

Colts- have, Lavo,Hoppers,Digman & Imps
GU- have, Imps,Rams,Hoppers & Lavo
Wynhamvale- have, Digman,Lavo,ANA & Gellibrand
Digman- have, Wynhamvale, Gellibrand, Colts & Hoppers
ANA- have, Gellibrand,Imps,Wynhamvale & Rams
Imps- have, GU,ANA,Gellibrand, & Colts
Hoppers- have, Rams,Colts, GU & Digman
Lavo- have, Colts,Wynhamvale,Rams, & GU
Gellibrand- have, ANA,Digman,IMPS & Wynhamvale

Colts, GU,Wyhamvale have a good run to finals, these 3 sides will make finals no doubt.

Considering the run home fourth spot is up for grabs.

Digman & ANA will need to win at least 3 out of their 4 remaining games to almost guarnatee them for a finals birth.

Gellibrand & Imps play two sides in the current top four, they will have to win at least 3 games to have a chance to make finals, more than likely will have to win all 4 games to make it.

Lavo & Hoppers have the toughest run home playing 3 current top 4 sides, looks like they will be both spectating come finals time.

B Turf Ladder After rd 7

Point Cook 34
Colts 31
Digman 27
Wynhamvale 27
Deerpark Ardeer 22
ANA 21
GU 21
Hoppers 19
Gellibrand 15
Lavo 9
Imps 3

Finals Run home

Point Cook- have, Imps,Whyhamvale,Digman & Colts
Colts- have, Lavo,Hoppers, Deerpark Ardeer & Point Cook
Digman- have, Wynhamvale, GU, Point Cook & Hoppers
Wynhamvale- have, Digman,Point Cook,ANA & Gellibrand
Deerpark Ardeer-have, GU,Lavo,Colts & Imps
ANA- have, Gellibrand,Imps,Wynhamvale & Bye
GU- have, Deerpark Ardeer, Digman, Hoppers & Lavo
Hoppers- have, Bye, Colts, GU & Digman
Gellibrand- have, ANA,Bye, Imps & Wynhavale

Point Cook Play 3 teams in the top 4, amazingly play their first game back, on turf for the season. Will that spell some losses for them for the run home?, adjusting to the lack of bounce on turf. Never the less will make finals.

Colts play two teams in the top four, must win at least two games to gaurantee a spot in the four.

3rd & 4th spot is up for grabs, lots of teams in the hunt.

Digman & Whyhamvale will need win 3 games to ensure them a finals birth.

Deerpark Ardeer have a good run home, playing only one top four side. Winning three games may get them in depending on other results.

GU draw isnt bad either playing two top for sides. Must win at least 3 to have any chance.

ANA, Hoppers & Gellibrand all have a bye and must win their 3 remaining games for any chance for the finals. Will depend on some other results.

And of course theres always a outright result or two to throw a spanner in the works.

Any one else care to give a summary for the other grades ?

I played him in C turf in round 3 and he is an ok player but i dont know why he is or if he would be popular with other teams

Re: Williamstown and District Cricket Association (WADCA)

apparently Matt Baker or "moose" as he is known as, hits the turps pretty hard, i cant confirm anything but thats just the rumour, but the word going around is he is a bit of a benny cousins of cricket. still performs well though. he would be a nice little pick up for willy cults i reckon..

Re: Williamstown and District Cricket Association (WADCA)

yeah ive heard that aswell.
its a funny one though. Nat Ward from colts has played A turf all year and has played well.
and Matt Baker has only played a couple games in the A turf as an opening bat.
But last season in school cricket im sure Matt Baker played for Williamstown high and dominated, with Nat Ward playin in their second XI.
they came up against strong oppositions such as strathmore. so yeah. he must have fallen off the ropes or something.

Re: Williamstown and District Cricket Association (WADCA)

i was just havin a look through the previous blogs.
and its going a few months back now.
but who ever said that sammy young is the best u/21 player in the comp is kidding themselves.
thats all i have to say on the matter.

and for whoever that loser is who keeps coming on here, has something to do with willi subbies. the reason why willi comp u/21's arent guns are because u blokes poach them at such a young age. its incredible.

i heard rumors, that u blokes were down at colts trying to poach matt knight on his second training night at the club.

and you wonder why no one likes you?

crofty isnt that good. had to carry way to much weight on his shoulders at gellibrand. as soon as things dont go his way he pulls an injury? figure that one out.

thats all.
thank you

oh. and i cant belive grioli got a game in that rep team. haha id rather play short

Agreed. and they had a reliance on him. So bad this year that they are struggling big time because of that

He didn't bat real well either. I only seen the one game but he didn't seem too flash to me

is true. the way they have peformed this year it does show how much they did rely on him.
im sure some of their bowlers in the a turf were playin 3rds for them last year.

is this true? have many left the club?

Re: Williamstown and District Cricket Association (WADCA)

a few have left, but i don't think too many really.

i think they're pretty much the same side, teams just don't take notice of them anymore. they don't have that 1 or 2 players who they rely on as much as they used to

Re: Williamstown and District Cricket Association (WADCA)

Anyone care to make a prediction on who will win the U/17s comp or is it the usual suspects in Willy or Werribee.
