Re: Williamstown and District Cricket Association (WADCA)

ANA has a practice game on Sunday 16th September against St Anthony's from the Gisborne comp at McIvor Reserve in Yarraville.

Any practice games schedule in the comming weeks for other willi comp clubs?

Re: Williamstown and District Cricket Association (WADCA)

Apparently Glenorden C.C is joining the willi comp from the churches, not sure what grade they will play though.

Re: Williamstown and District Cricket Association (WADCA)

Played three juniors in yesterdays practice game against St Anythony's, ended up winning comfortably.

On a side note, Andrew Clark fromer Willi comp & FCA comp player is St Anythony's Captain coach this year. Should go well in the Gisborne comp, still a good bat.

Re: Williamstown and District Cricket Association (WADCA)

New Recruit "Shiva" (no idea yet on his real name) x State representive u/17 & 19 to play in Sundays practice match against Melton Centrals. No idea how he will go, will be the first time we see him at the club this sunday.

Re: Williamstown and District Cricket Association (WADCA)

Ive changed clubs this year .. Decided to make the move to Lavo, Werribee Centrals r a good club but seem to struggle in the senior grades.

My first training session tonight with the new club and from what ive seen we have some fairly good talent. 3 players from last years 17's are playing A turf which i think is a good thing. All up the club has 65 players to choose from and only has put in for 4 sides, you will probably see a 5th side soon. The A Turf is pumped for the round 2 match against GU!

Captains:
A Turf - Mark Logan
B Turf - Steve Baker
C Turf - Mal Hartshorne
B Matts - Dwayne Piercy

let me guess lawry, mitchell and mills:confused:

Re: Williamstown and District Cricket Association (WADCA)

Millsy is playin at North Melbourne and Lawry hasnt come to training yet. The 3 17's are Shaun Cutajar, Ayden Bourne and Daniel Harrison. If Lawry came he would be a walk up starter in the A turf.

Mark Logan. There used to be a Logan - left hand opener - that played for Laverton about 15 years ago. It's not the same bloke is it?

Gee, he must be nearly 40 by now. Was a gun bat back then, always made runs against us. I reckon we only beat them 2 or 3 times in the 13 years I played against them, but one of them was a grand final.@|

Mark is still looking young and fit and is still one of the better players

Re: Williamstown and District Cricket Association (WADCA)

Hoppers Club CC vs. Grand United
Had a wash out after a 'leak' under the wicket. seems a bit suss to me

Willi Imps vs. Gellibrand
Gellibrand had a win to start off the season, with no-one making over 25 runs. Robson made 60 to steer Imps to 140 but still wasn't enough in the end

Laverton vs. Newport Rams
Laverton wins this with ease, winning by 8 wickets. Only King the stand alone batsman for Rams

Footscray ANA vs. Wyndhamvale
ANA were welcomed to the A Turf in style, with Wyndhamvale winning this game with relative ease. Bowling set up Wyndhamvale, taking 7/10 in the middle stages

Newport Digman vs. Willi Colts
Colts get on the board after beating Digman. Hanni Harb with his 48 outshadowed Ghazi in a battle of the captains

Interesting first round of cricket. Looking forward to the 2nd round

Re: Williamstown and District Cricket Association (WADCA)

Did anyone see B turf where Laverton were chasing 50 and still didnt win. Dissapointing effort from the boys, at one stage they were 7/26.

Went and watched a mate was playing the wicket had not even been rolled. It had only been mowed. Once it rained a little bit it became un playable absolute disgrace for any level of cricket.

the wicket was rolled, it just wasn't prepared until late in the week. meaning it was green, and with a little rain became a mine field
On another note, it's also both captains and the umpires' decision to play on it. Laverton wouldn't have been complaining when they rolled the vales for 55 would they?

If it was rolled it wasn't rolled much. The grass on it was long as well. It wasn't like a mine field the ball was skidding off the wet grass. No excuses but. Lavo still should of got the runs. I think there was 4 or 5 ducks in a row within 4 overs most of them were bowled with 1 LBW

Re: Williamstown and District Cricket Association (WADCA)

yeah i'm not saying that it's acceptable. I honestly didn't think there'd be a game on that wicket, but as i said, the Umpires and the captains must have thought it wasn't that bad

Would rather have played on concrete

Re: Williamstown and District Cricket Association (WADCA)

Laverton were missing there usual opening bowlers for the first game in Wellsy and Darren Batties. The players that came in are youngsters and they did excellent

darren batties doesn't play at the club anymore. Captaining the 2's at Werribee

A few good sides this year. should make it a more even comp than just the usual
