Australia vs England - The Ashes 2021/22

No idea tbh.

All I know is the selectors have a headache on who to drop if Josh Hazlewood is fit for the Sydney Test. It'd be a brave move to drop Boland after that performance.

They sure do. And yes 6/7 is a fair argument for his retention. Having said that Richardson did get his own five for in Adelaide and looked very dangerous on occasions. The other thing to remember CA always prepares Sydney to turn (hate it) so they may be looking at a second spinner...

Gooch and Root a pair of nervous wrecks you mean. Be good to win in England 4-1 again. How do you remember that series you'd have only be a kid then.
I was 9 in that series. The big reason I remember it is I had the VHS tape of the series and watched it billions of times and used to collect news articles on that series and cricket in general in a scrapbook. Held onto that scrapbook until 2019 when my grandmother passed away as she had kept it even after I moved out for my move to SA.

Reckon captaincy has hindered Joes batting during this series. He has been under so much pressure having to prop up his side.
Nah i reckon the fact that they've been on the road so much with all those covid bubbles they've had to be in has left them cooked.

Don't forget Covid has struck their families and support staff on this tour

Mate no offense re your age. I did delete that part of my post but you were a touch too quick for me. I used to have VHS tapes of Test cricket too. Useless now with new technology.

Yep it was. Pretty sure he quit after the 3rd Test if my memory serves me correctly.
If that was the case then the England were still in the series.. only two down with one draw. I'd say it was after the next match that he was replaced as the Poms copped an innings an 148 run hiding.

Aussies were also in these bubbles. What's more we have barely played any Test cricket this past 12 months. If anyone was overcooked or underdone it should be us.
Hardly because we couldn't actually travel.
Other's could travel.

Our own border was shut for ages.

The last lot of test matches we played was against India last summer.

We've had some low level ODI tours and T/20 tours. But that's about it.

The Test at Leeds where my childhood hero Allan Border got an unbeaten double century and Steve Waugh and David Boon each got centuries. Remember it well.

Didn't our blokes play in the early rounds of the Shield prior to the series?
Not this year. Most were in India/UAE for IPL. Josh Hazlewood for instance had not bowled a red ball in anger since last January before the First Test this series. Little wonder he broke down as his body was only attuned to bowling four overs at a time.
