But he got 169 the match before!

On a flat track against a very poor attack with no signs of swing or substantial spin.

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

Yuvraj is nothing but flat track bully, when he comes up against a quality attack he gets found out. It's all right spanking Pakistan around on roads in India but facing that the Aussie attack is a whole different ball game.Bring Sehwag in for Yuvraj and drop Dravid down to three.Sehwag did well in Australia last time round.

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

yeah yuvraj has to go. he struggled against the new ball in that match too. sehwag and jaffer should open in the next game. although im not too confident about how sehwag will perform.

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

I guess its obvious that the Indian selectors dont read this forum, because they've left Sehwag out of the 13 :D. in fact they may keep the same team, although pathan may replace khan (who may be injured). and pathan may even be asked to open!

Although the potential decision is highly ludicrous, Pathan has opened before in two innings - he scored 93 and 6. The 93 was on, by no means a flat pitch and the 6 was part of India collapsing for 100 all out.

Yuvi is a great player, out with the old in with the new! Drop Dravid when was his last massive score?

146 vs West Indies on 10-14 June 2006
126 vs Bangladesh on 25-27 May 2007
214 vs Mumbai on 3-6 November 2007

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

So Dravid's last score against decent test opposistion [e.g not Bangladesh or West Indies] is Januray 2006. Hmmm.

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

I doubt that Dravid will be dropped from the test team. He has been struggling for sometime, but I don't think we can replace him yet.

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

looks like they have gone with the same team minus zaheer.

why did jaques have to get a duck :cry :cry
i guess it was his time, 5 straight innings with a 50 plus score, he was due for a failure, just hopefully not to many more ::)

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

man has RP singh bowled well. 4 fa so far, all of them big wickets. very dissapointed with australia. george is playing alright, so is simmo but i shouldnt think we could get 300

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

wow, that was the most amazing day of cricket i have seen in a long time. lots of wickets and amazing strokeplay, and the 2nd highest first day total at the SCG. good on george, wonderful innings, right up untill he started to think about the ton. well played hundred by symonds although VERY lucky not to have been given out. well paced nevertheless. australia in a resonobly strong position consider they were 6/134

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

Australia recovered very well from 134/6. It seems like they will be able to post a score in excess of 400. Australia had some luck, but India will need a lot of it and some determined batting if they have to get near Australia's score.

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

Brad Hogg made a valuable contribution with the bat. If he bowls well then it would be pretty hard for MacGill to make a comeback. Symonds was brilliant. He is still unbeaten so Australia have a good chance to score something like 450.
India has bowled well until now and failed with the bat. If Rahul Dravid struggles again India will fail. I think his over defensive batting puts unnecessary pressure on the middle order.

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

dissapointing about phil jacques :cry but simmo waz amazing
hopefully the australian bowling will be good

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

Zaheer Khan has been rules out for the entire series.

India have been dealt a huge blow with the news that Zaheer Khan, who missed out the second Test in Sydney with a left heel injury, has been ruled out of the entire series against Australia. He will return to India immediately and be replaced by VRV Singh, the right-arm medium fast bowler, who will fly to Australia on January 4. Zaheer missed out on the second Test.
Full Story

Its a big blow for India. Zaheer was in terrific form. I hope that VRV Singh has improved since he last played for India.

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

Well played india is what i should be saying but it ended up with me having to blame the umpires, a clear caught behind can be missed sometimes and forgiven but come on 3rd umpires cannot get away with mistakes like that. Lucky australia have been dug out a hole.

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

i hate how when the indians bowl and when the batsmens about to hit it the bowler yells"oi" dont u think its a distraction for the batsmen??

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

wow from 134/6 to 463 is a great recovery. the lower order chipped in with a lot of runs. india has started again very definsively and i think they are going to go down again like they did in the last match.

They only say it after the ball has been played not before. The players would definately complain to the umpires otherwise.

Laxman has given good start to india. Dravid is playing over defensively again but Laxman has a strike rate of more than 100  Dravid should rotate the strike more because the other batsmen will suffer because of him. Defensive play will never work against australia.
