Matt is playing at Darley next season and many seasons after that.

The stupid part of all this is that sites like this only cause trouble for clubs as people like you enjoy fuelling ridiculous rumours.

Have something constructive to say or don't right anything at all, you big PEANUT.

p.s I don't think you will chase the runs this week, oh I know who you are

Just a thought, would be detrimental to the league to play all 1 day games?

Why the interest in more one day games Waka? .... A way to get back in the ones per chance..... I'm a fan of two day cricket.

My thought ... get rid of one day games which leaves three days free ... No more Sunday cricket which could help with more availabilities for Rep cricket (if these were only Sundays cricketers need to play wives and kids would be more forgiving). Also perhaps a weekend of 20/20 cricket with a Friday Night extravaganza to kick off, rounds on Saturday arvo then semis Sunday (am) with Final Sunday afternoon. Fundraising possibilities abound which could go to Rep cricket side and therefore maybe we would get close to our best side

Let me tell you all ..... turning up and playing at the Eastern Oval for each home game is most definitely "a truly better experience". All players welcome. Call the club! It's super dooper!

The other benefit is being able to play with Mr Josh White, the boy who can hit a fast yellow dimpled ball that is shot out of a electronical device.

Maybe more one day games would get me back into the ones, but making runs would also get me back in there regardless of the format. I like the idea of 1 day games for 2 reasons, it would make the comp a bit more even, plus I wouldn't have lug my fat ar*e around the field for anything more than 45/50 overs!

Just think two-dayers give the better players a chance to show their wares for a longer period of time. For example, at your club... would Simon Allan be as an effective bowler if he could only bowl 9 or 10 overs? I understand this means the clubs with more depth would be better suited and perhaps thats the way it should be. Do we want someone like josh white making nice little 60 or 70 nos or do we want to see what he can do with 70 overs to bat?

Don't get down on him Big Guy. Hammer Time keeps us entertained with new words like "electronical". Try and use it in a sentence....

"HammerTime got down on one knee and smote an electronical coverdrive from the humming bowling machine. The Zumper boys stood as one and applauded."

Fair points you make there Garnoo but I'm not one of the better players so I don't really mind. Call me selfish but I like the one day games and it's just a way of creating a fairer comp with everyone playing each team twice.

Greg, I'm pretty sure that there are leagues around that even have 20/20 matches for premiership points. I'm not sure if that's feasible in the BCA but something like that where you may play two teams in a day would certainly be of more interest to the public and would solve issues like having to play those ridiculous Saturday/Sunday games that make it so hard to field teams in the lower grades these days.

Sven

P.S. Worked our bowling machine up from 70mph to 100mph to Josh White in our nets on Tuesday night. They were half volleys and his heart was pumping out of his chest but he was playing cover drives. The rest of us got to 85mph and were struggling. He is a freak.

Sven, on behalf of everyone on this forum could you please get over Josh White.

I am a representative cricketer, but as I've stated previously I shouldn't be. I'm not down on confidence, just getting myself out with bad shot selections and the odd brain fart. I had a rejuvenating hit at the tunnels with someone who put it all into perspective for me last night and the tables should turn this weekend.
You seem to know a bit about my situation there Garnoo, are you close to the BRCC or just have your ear to the ground?

Great statement Hammer Time and very true. Would be a coaches nightmare hearing these bulls69t rumours on this site.

I dont know about further turf wickets getting installed everywhere. Have heard strong reports that the VCA are in serious talks with councils/shires about removing a lot of turf pitches and making comps hard wicket cricket because of the drought. This includes Melbourne district & subbies 3's & 4's.

Ideally it would be great if all the clubs could play at their home grounds like mt clear, the combine, brown hill.

That way clubs could provide afternoon tea for each other like every other league in the world.

.

The whole afternoon tea thing is an interesting concept. Darley are the only ones that put on a spread for visiting teams. Is it something that other clubs would look at doing?

I reckon its good to mingle with players of other clubs but i think its better after the game not in the middle. I know cricket is different to other sports but you don't talk to opposition in footy half way through the game. a lot of the time at tea break you are still trying to concentrate on the job ahead without having to socialise. A few beers after the game is my preferred option.

thoughts??
