Victory, the boys have won it for the first time in 26 years.

passed the required 197 with 2 down and 14 overs to remain.

Fantastic effort

Pete Moore apparently bowled 5 overs but left the field with a knee problem,
might be interesting if he can't get up for tomorrow

Great effort by the boys.

The team was obviously a lot stronger than many people gave them credit for.

I see in the courier today wendouree made a fairly sizable score against the darley lions. 5-340 with skinner getting 93 and pyke 119, looks as those two have hit some form of late and running into the finals. Maybe the target heads may be starting to tune up just at the right time of the year...any thoughts????

Any truth to the rumour that Pykey was dropped on zero in the slips cordon?

Yeah i have. Parker should have caught pyke on 2 at 3rd slip, Cape would have won a slab and Darley wouldnt have been chasing 340.

Low flat road at Darley with no assistance for the bowlers but still a great score. Pyke and Skinner were definitely class. I think you may have even been at the ground thick edge?

Although unlikely that the lions get up you still have to defend the runs. A few Darley bats have been poor this year so its about time they stepped up. Steenholdt in form and Cape is either going to make 3, 30 or 153. Dewar & dawson could also step up.

Need Sam Miller to stand up if you want to win the flag and E "Bar" Johnson to snare a few wickets early on in each innings.

It certainly looks that way...It'll be a very close race as to who finished 3rd and 4th..assuming naps make 130 runs and wendouree can defend 340...gotta feel for skinner though...is that 3 scores in the 90's in a week? I think they ought to let him know when he gets there, that way he isnt caught on the boundary....

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

Can I just say a massive CONGRATULATIONS to all involved in the Country Week victory. From Hammer and Dash, to all players involved whether they played or not, to Stewie for scoring and Alan and Henry (nice job on taking out the pole and copping a red light fine too) for doing their bit, you've done Ballarat cricket and Ballarat City very proud! Regardless of what has been said on this forum and around the traps, you've gone down there and stuck it up everyone that doubted ya'll, and for that we all have respect. Top job boys!

Yep good effort by the Ballarat boys to win it. Now imagine what might have happened if the 'A' bowlers were playing. Throw Johnson, Blake, Kentish, and Cape into the mix and it wouldn't be a bad team.

Blake on form shouldn't have played and kentish would only get in as an allrounder not as a front line bowler.

No SteveO he was offering much insight behind the stumps all day like only Paull can. I know he reads this so I'll say I found it amusing that he had a crack at Kentish citing "not in the spirit of the game" when he tried to mancat Al Edmends. Very funny stuff coming from Paull.

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

Well, well, well. After banging on about here over recent times, our friends at Eastie land have done it again.

Sooking about 'we don't get any respect, boo hoo' & 'we sledge coz we have earnt the right coz we are better than all you', they have set a new low.

I won't use any names, but it shouldn't be hard to work the blanks out.

Seems that one of Easts opening bowlers Saturday (there's only 2 of them, so already the field has narrowed), has done the awfully courageous thing, & sledged the 16 year old opening bat from Nth Ballarat after dismissing him, telling him, get this, to f*ck off back to his alcoholic mother!!!

What a quality piece of sh*t this bloke is!!!

Now considering the quality backgrounds & pasts some of these East blokes have, it's yet again an example of why they get no respect despite their success.

Don't deny it Irv or any other Eastie thats on here. It's FACT & you know it. Sledging is one thing, crossing the line & getting personal is another. The fact that this bloke holds a leadership role at your club speaks volumes for your club. Bet that everyone in the team had a good old chuckle afterwards....|@ |@ |@

good on you cobber if you were there then you can comment on it and you need to get your facts right before you go posting them on the forum... and for the other side of the story this 16 year old kid didn't shut his mouth the whole day in the field so in the end of the day if you can't take a little bit back then don't open your mouth in the first place.. so you never said anyhing before cobber i bet not.....

If u sledge stick to the cricket...if he has played and missed every ball in 18 overs to make one run then ur asking to be sledged (unless of course donny is umpiring in which case u need to make sure that ur a point player in order to sledge otherwise u'll be suspended for talkin about cricket) but leave the personals out of it..

How the other games lookin boys?

Naps bowled point out for 160 (should've been a lot less except last wicket put on 50) and are 1/30 in reply...white and appleton 30's and thommo and danny carrol took 3 each. carrol took a hatrick.

So 3 years ago Danny Carroll was trundling away in the 3rds and to be honest that was probably a fair reflection of the type of player he was - a handy 3rds player. But through sheer hard work and persistence he's been able to develop his game to the point where he's been selected in the A grade for what is the Club's most important game in the last 3 years. 17 overs 3 for 50 including a hattrick. I know a lot of the times on this forum we talk about and compliment the class players in the A grade which is fair enough but here's a story for the battlers.

great work Boonie - a sensational effort
