Yea i know Danny well. A real trooper. The last time i played against him which was last year he didn't even bowl. What type of spin does he bowl? Great effort on a hat trick

Bowls offies and is very much improved - especially to left handers

If Naps make it will be a good challenge for the lad applying his trade against some of the top batters in the comp from other sides. Did he bowl to white, Steve O on weekend. If he did how did they play him?

Unfortunately no. I was cooked before I would have had the opportunity.

His hat-trick included Dave Horwood getting caught on the fence sweeping, Matt Swards shouldering arms to a straight one (LBW) and Pete Moore (in shocking nick after Friday night) bunting one around the corner and popping a soft one up in the air. Disastrous.

When he plays long aggressive batting orders I'd hate to think what will happen to him. Good on him for getting his 3 for though.

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

I'm sure that P.Moore wasn't the only country week player in some ordinary condition come saturday afternoon. I hear ryan knowles had a little kip while the brown hill boys batted late in the arvo. Also S.Miller was heard to be in some state up at Darley Park. Anyone else hear or see any other country week boys in a shabby state???

Apparently the Darley boys had to get their secretary to pick them up from J'Ds early Saturday morning and judging by Parker's figures he must have been under the weather. Did he really drop Pyke on 0, can anyone tell me?
Pyke, Miller, Fletcher and Knowles out at the same time can only be messy

it is fair to say that it was a pretty big night for the boys on Friday, and fair enough too. How was his knee SteveO?

Yeah his knee was ok. He had cartilage removed from a footy injury a while ago so he gets a bit of bone on bone pain in his left knee. He said he was sore all week in Melbourne. A good effort to almost get through the week.

and all this is my point, having a chat with a batsman, putting some mental pressure on them is fine. part of the game, i love it. but when its personal about players families, thats a different story. sledge the kid about his game by all means, not his family issues.

Totally agree with you there Cobber.

You should never get personal, especially when the player being sledged is only 16.

I bet the East Ballarat blokes would have felt like heroes after sledging the poor bloke.

Just out of interest do you condone what happened on Saturday Irv?

Why was Parker at JD's celebrating the Country Week victory?

He didn't even play a game did he?

I heard that a naked Heath Pyke chased the Mayor/Big Miner of Ballarat out of the rooms after the victory on Friday?! Nice work Pykey, although I think you've been spending too much time with the Bambino showing off the burnt dim sim!!!!!

Rumour has it Waka05, maybe you can confirm, the mayor is putting grog on for them at town hall on Friday night. if this is true then the boys might not look so great on Saturday 2 weeks in a row

Not too sure Shakes, I only know that the Big Miner is giving the boys a civic reception sometime soon. Not sure what that entails but good on him.

If u sledge stick to the cricket...if he has played and missed every ball in 18 overs to make one run then ur asking to be sledged (unless of course donny is umpiring in which case u need to make sure that ur a point player in order to sledge otherwise u'll be suspended for talkin about cricket) but leave the personals out of it..

Rumour has it, that indeed, the young lad in question had only himself to blame.... Whisper around the traps is that the kid, complete with advice from a well liquored woman, presumably his mother, decided it was best to see off the remaining overs by using his head, not once but twice. Well played from a bloke who had advice for most of the east line-up. Word from the northern oval is that to this day a resounding TTIIIIINNNNGGGG can be heard when the wind blows the right way.

Now dont get me wrong, i dont like east, however i do take exception to kids/mid 20's/anyone else for that matter who think they can give a mouthful without backing anything up. Good word from the east camp is that if this kid had any less idea, he could have been mistaken for a stray sheep from the trials two weeks previous.... Hopefully the young fella has learnt a lesson, albeit a hard one, and will now refrain from acting like a cock until he can back it up with, well lets start at one cricket shot and progress from there.

Has the lady in question reviewed this weeks Dan Murphys specials? Could be another 'WET' day at otherwise dry northern oval....@| @| @|

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

Rito blokes I've finally got around to sorting the "Wheat from the chaff" and here is what I have. I've picked up all ideas and hot topics and condensed them into the following. Massive reading I know but some pretty good ideas in there all the same. Would like some feedback and/or comments if ya'll have any. I'll get in contact with Ron Jennings this week sometime or next, whenever I can find the time and get the ball rolling. Cheers, Waka

Ballarat Cricket Association - Zumper Big Cricket

General:-

• Sightscreens for the major grounds. (too many people park directly behind the bowlers arm, plus glare from sun of windscreens.)
• Need more Turf Wickets at club grounds. (Russell Sq, Progress Park, Alfredton) We would like the BCA to work with the clubs for this to happen.
• Comment made “I know for a fact that the BCA is the richest and most financial association in Country Victoria” We’d like to know if this is true or not.
• Where exactly do our Turf Wicket/Ground Improvement Levies go?
• Investigate entering a Melbourne District team.
• Home teams to be responsible for supplying all cricket material each week. (stumps, markers, arvo tea etc.)
• Player/Captain & Player/Coach reports, should only occur if Captain has been warned and is unable to control the behaviour of the offending player.

Competition structure:-

• 8 Team Competition, 7 OneDay games, 7 TwoDay games with a OneDay final for the top 2 placed teams.
• Play 9 TwoDay games only, rotating home games each season, longer Christmas break.
• No Sunday matches at all
• All OneDay matches, 18 week season
• Separate OneDay competition
• Lower grades to play more/all OneDay games
• Reserve Days for 1st XI matches
• Play Sat/Sun OneDay matches (2 different teams)

Twenty/20 Competition:-

• Need more teams competing
• No Tuesday matches (hard for training and drawing a crowd)
• Needs more advertising to the public
• 5:45pm starts are no good, too difficult to get a competitive team available to start so close to work knock-off time
• Extended notification, give us more time to prepare
• Twenty/20 weekend, Friday night kickoff, Saturday knock-out, Sunday Finals. Start on Friday night with a local “Celebrity” match, Gareth Hall can bowl a bit, and local Cr Des Hudson can hit a ball (draw a crowd).
• Make it a spectacle, draw a crowd and make some money for the BCA to put back into the clubs, or use the funds raised to properly support the best cricket association team in the state??
• Make it a requirement that at least all “Club” teams enter a side.

Country Week:-

• Financial incentives for players
• Staying down in Melbourne for the week. (Would it be hard to find a hotel chain to Sponsor the league for at least free accommodation of 15 blokes for 5 nights in February?)
• Fit the players out in proper uniforms, jackets, warm up gear etc.
• More support crew, trainer, physio (Clarkey would do it for a few bucks I’m sure)
• Don’t schedule a Sat/Sun game the weekend before Country Week.
• More BCA support/presence needed in rep games, spend some time with the boys and put faces to names.
• A full Representative fixture to all squad members as early as possible to help with availabilities.

Comunication:-

• Players association? Forum to voice opinions other than Big Cricket.
• Does the District game in early January really benefit Ballarat cricket?
• BCA media Liaison. Head of Players Association (eg.) to talk to the Courier/3BA/PowerFM/WinTV etc about the competition. Rod Ward and Aaron Nunn do it for the BFL (I think), if not then we should.
