As a matter of interest. After the weekends scores Wendouree's percentage jumps to 1.49. Naps is 1.40. And rain is forecast for the rest of the week................ Uh Oh

The feathers are on the head, tomahawk out of the shed, beach towel around the waist and I'm heading out to the backyard to light a bonfire.

yeah a couple of those close LB shouts late in the day v Coronet that were turned down and cost us the outright would be real handy right about now. Of course the Darley boys being able to catch might've been handy too..............

Yep, plumb LBW shouts late in the day and clear caught in close appeals that get turned down can really give you the heebee jeebees.

The game has a way of evening itself out. But we whinge at our peril.

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

Guys,

Just a public service announcement on behalf of the BALLARAT CITY BREWERS BASEBALL CLUB. With the Geelong winter baseball season approaching the club is interested in hearing from anyone keen on becoming involved in the sport. Training is from 5.30pm on a Wednesday night at Wakeling Field - Prince of Wales Park in Gillies Street. The club currently fields three grades in the Geelong Baseball Association and has a successful history in this competition.

Speaking from personal experience, baseball is a great way to keep everything required for cricket in working order over the winter and provides a great team alternative to football.

Further information can be obtained from Hamish Burrows on 0409 315 951.

If this information could be passed on to all clubs, out of goodwill, at tomorrow nights training sessions it would be greatly appreciated by the committee of the Ballarat City Baseball Club.
Thanks.

I don't care what the scenario was, any sledges that make reference to someone's parents clearly means that the sledger has serious mental issues.
It would be interesting to see how the person (we all know who it is) reacts if someone went personal to him.
What a disgrace

If you seem to know this person then you would know that he gets his fair bit of sledging towards him and he seems to be able to take it pretty well and i agree that if you give it learn to take it... also hammer time i think you need to get the full story to understand what was said coz you are far from the truth at the moment

Apparently the Darley boys had to get their secretary to pick them up from J'Ds early Saturday morning and judging by Parker's figures he must have been under the weather. Did he really drop Pyke on 0, can anyone tell me?
Pyke, Miller, Fletcher and Knowles out at the same time can only be messy

It was a very difficult catch that Parker spilled off Pyke. Capey was bowling quite quickly, Pyke swung hard and Parks was fielding at second and had to dive so it definetly wasn't a gimme.

What game were you at Gospel???? Pyke was on 1 and parks was at 3rd slip. Had a slash and went to the right of parker who went one handed at it instead of two.

It was a long long long long long long long day in the field after that.

coming into the final week of home and away I thought we'd go back and compare a few pre season predictions to actual outcomes:

Napisan

1. Wendouree
2. Mt Clear
3. Napoleons
4. Ballarat Redan
5. East Ballarat
6.Golden Point
7.Brown Hill
8. North Ballarat
9. Coronet City
10. Darley

Cobber

1 Wendouree
2 Ballart Redan
3 Napoleons
4 Mt Clear
5 Brown Hill
6 Darley
7 East Ballarat
8 Nth Ballarat
9 Golden Point
10 Coronet

The don

1 Wendouree
2 Ballart Redan
3 Mt Clear
4 East
5 Naps
6 North
7 Point
8 Brown Hill
9 Darley
10 Coronet

Most people obviously had the reigning premiers in their top4 but several key players left and made it tough for the combine to back it up this year

Mount clear and wendouree were in everyones top4 and have delivered the goods

A lot of people suggested point would be down the bottom after an exodus of former first xi players but the younger replacements have stepped up to the challenge well.

North well nobody really knew how much pc and hoppy meant to thaty team until this year. When was the last time a team went through a season without a win?

Brown Hill , Coronet & Darley all appeared to live up to everybody's expectation as filling up the lower positions and show that they are still along way from making to finals action. Darley will be the most likely to improve out of those 3.

East were the surprise not many had them making it. To lose only one game is a fair effort for them.

Naps well they are always around the mark and have showed that again this year. will they make finals this week and push for a first a grade premiership who knows.

Just a quick note boys, I have set up a meeting with Ron Jennings on Tuesday next week. So far he has been very accomodating and willing to listen. The early signs are good...............until I tell him what we want!

if at any stage tho, if ron is looking at you blankly, aimlessly nodding his head & randomly saying 'yes greg', shut your folder & go back to work & earn yourself another dollar, coz he will have switched off, dreaming of how important he is!!!!

Sure you'll have a good time Waka. Does look like a lot of players do read this site, however would still be good to get a players survey around so that there is a wider range of blokes making a comment.

The list you posted a couple of days ago looks good. I still think that a lot of 1st XI players would support the ongoing emphasis on 2 day games. I can remember me, SteveO and Irv all keen on continuing 2 dayers because they present more of a test / challenge..............Hang on, when I look at that shortlist, maybe its just the old guys who support two dayers !!!!

I think a player survey is a good idea too. In your list Waka you have mentioned that some people want all 2 dayers, some want all one dayers and some want an 8 team comp with 7 one dayers and 7 two dayers. which one are you actually going to suggest? Are you just going to say that the current fxture needs changing and here are the alternatives?

waka,

with the footballers holding a cricket tournament do you think we should have a lightning premiership football comp before the season proper? 2x 10 min halves?

might stop the sledging side of the cricket season as you can try to smash who you like where its legal!
