ooo big call that one!! les is probably close if not, the best keeper in ballarat and although is havin a lean trot lately with the bat certainly has done the job for us in the past..

As far as keepers go I reckon they rank as follows:

1st - Dave Horwood (GPCC - a hand-eye freak with immaculate footwork. Rarely has to dive)
2nd - Dave Knight (Wend - ditto)
3rd - Paull Jeffrey (MC - great hands)
4th - Steve Riley (Darley - technically good with nuts to go up to stumps)
5th - Tim Reinetts (East)
6th - Matt Clark (MC)
7th - Xavier Watson (North - great hands and feet)
8th - Les Sandwith (Naps - competent)

What say you?

Not my opinion but if I can speak on behalf of one Darren Murnane I'm pretty sure who he would nominate as the competition's most underrated batsman. and that is himself. Stick forever talking up his batting capabilities and chastising captains for continually batting him at 11. Currently sits on a club record 79 not outs and reckons he'll have 100 red inks before he calls it a day. Is in as night watchmen v Point 2nds tomorrow and has been talking it up all week. Already survived 18 balls with out fuss he reckons although yet to trouble the scorers of course. We've got our Last Man Standing Saturday night so for god sake if there's any Point 2nds bowlers on this forum please do the right thing and knock stick over cheaply! otherwise we'll all be subject to ball by ball summaries of his innings!!!!!!!!!!

Loves his one liners though does Sticker. About 5 years ago v East in the
1sts Timmy Clarke was on about 70 odd not out and was eying off a debut A grade ton when Stick come in at 11.

Timmy: hang around here Stick I'm seeing em pretty well and am keen for a ton
Stick: don't worry about me Clarkey I'm eying off a ton here myself

Timmy ended up not out 70 odd when Stick creamed a cover drive straight to 1st slip for 0.

Yep DJ - definitely the most underrated batsman going round but can play a lovely late cut with any pool que..........

Any danger of one H Pyke from Wendouree of being the best Keeper in town? Certainly the best batsman/w-keeper and the one you would pick for your team above the others.

Waka 05, are you the most boring person ever! No one gives a continental about your 'new competition'! At the end of the day you will have no bearing on the way Ballarat Cricket is run because no-one knows who you are!

Well what a nice introduction. You've made your thoughts quite clear, here are mine. Do your homework as I have done for the past few weeks before you start shooting off random stupid comments. There's now 150 pages of stuff to go through so take a few hours and read back what we have all had to say over the past 2 seasons. Call me boring, that's fine, but I'm doing my bit for the blokes that make our competition, pipe down.......or keeping piping up you damn stoner!

i'd say its not a bad list however les at 8...i mean he has put down some sitters in my time but there is no keeper id rather have behind the wickets purely for his athletic ability and his arm. several times ive seen him pick up and throw down the wickets at the bowlers end..and in more recent times his ability to be up2 the stumps to ringin and cordo when they mix things up and to great effect

to save hastles about paying out on blokes from your own club how about we just make it general. Who are the most overated and underated players in the comp. Come on jedi9 throw your blls out there...

I dont mind throwing my 2 cents worth, and I'm first to admit that it may not be valid and informative any of my thoughts. I do not play in the comp and only watch from a far.

But I dont mind giving my opinion, and I know that not everyone will agree. We are all entitled to this.

Ok then I can understand a few blokes on here no each other so its fair enough not too list overated players, but underated players would be still interesting to hear.....

As for the comp though, my uninformed opinion would be
Overated - Brendan Parker
Underated - Daniel Scott

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

Here's another topic of discussion for the people out there. If you were able to get someone to your club eg. in a trade period, who would you target??? I know a few id be chassing. Matthew Cape, Simon Irving, Sam Miller, Eamon Johnson, Pete Appleton just to name a few. Pure match winners in their own right.

That is a pretty accurate call Jedi.

Parker for some reason keeps being called upon come country week each year.
I'm still astonished how he gets the wickets he does??

With Pyke in there he is now 9th. You couldn't possibly have him ahead of the previous 8 blokes.

I'd take Jacob Branch for the follwoing reasons:

1. Turn's it a cm
2. Can make runs when the game is a fore gone conclusion
3. Loves a beer
4. What a bloke

Interesting. Can you Naps blokes tell me why big Sticks and Geoff Martin would be telling our seconds blokes over a beer at the Naps rooms last week that they don't rate Banwell as a bloke or a player? Palms and Madge were stunned and amused.

Im not to sure that you'd call him underrated but I think Brendan Burns would be one of the most courageous cricketers in the comp. ive had some great battles with and against him out in the middle but he's one bloke who gives it everything...

im not to sure that youll find too many people that would come out and list the reasons why players may say something about that...has a lot of potential but just doesnt seem to live up to it...we know he can and he has shown it at times!!

yeah SteveO pretty sure the entire club doesn't rate Banners as a bloke or a player which is why the board decided to promote him to the leadership group this year as A grade vice captain. a board which contains G.Martin and D.Murnane by the way.

Nice effort trying to rock the boat there digger - stick to the rain dances me thinks.

Daniel Scott underrated? By who? Be the 1st bloke picked to have in the trenches with ya every week.
