well it looks like the four best teams will play off in this years finals series..a bad bit of luck 4 the big dipper.. im sure he would play with a broken leg.. good luck 2 the big fella.. he'll play 4 sure..good luck 2 wend and mounties on the northern oval, after playing there on the weekend i can safely say there will be plenty in it 4 the bowlers..and good luck fielding on there 2...looking forward 2 playing on the eastern 4 the first time this year..should be a hard fought game this weekend with both teams in some good form..nathan yates is bowling with some real heat at the moment, thommo also bowling well 4 the nappers.. cant wait 4 the weekend, this is what you play for..go the custards!!!!!

Injured in the last home and away game. Poor **************. Don't know the guy but can definitely feel for him there. Raises an interesting question though. To play or not to play. I missed out on a 2nds premiership campaign because I broke my hand in the last round and thought long and hard about whether I'd keep it quite and just play through. in the end being an opening bat and slips fielder I figured I'd better come clean and fess up because realistically I wouldn't have been much use to the side. In the end we won the semi easilly and the final was pretty much decided by rain so I've often thought if I had've kept quite I could've easilly been part of that premiership side.

so would be interested to here what blokes think? Do you play through or do you step aside?

Injury is an unfortunate part of sports, I'm sure most "experienced" campaigners have played through many matches with some niggle or other, however it's a team sport and I can't consider letting team mates down. I think if it's a significant injury and will affect your onfield performance, you step aside...no question

Not if there batsman do the job Thickedge. While he is a loyal servant and a champion bloke/player the club must stand up for him. Having played all sides Wendouree is clearly has the most talent especially with the bat. S.Miller could be the key. E Johnson would be loving a bouncy grassy wicket at Austar as well so hopefully the slips can hold onto them.

He tryed out for Vic Country- You Didn't
He is playing finals- Your Not
He won a country week final of his own bat- The selectors have never heard of you

i think in Dippers case he should play, even if he can only bowl 6 overs and is then spent. he knows how to bowl with a new ball so if he can make it to the crease he is still very valuable, he doesn't need to be quick on that pitch.

S.Miller is also not too bad with the ball and if he can maintain a god length he could cover the lost dipper overs.

if i was Dipper, i would be playing provided there is nobody in the 2's who can do the job with the new ball.

My tips for this week are East over Naps and Wendouree over Mt Clear, only because the Wendouree batsmen are much more patient on a bowling wicket.

Any thoughts on results this week and why?

got one for you

your trying to bag someone behind a fake name because you are to scared to say anything to someone with them knowing who you are

we are obviously not comparing us as he is quite obviously better than me and he is a good mate of mine

1 thing is true if he has done his hammy properly 6 overs would be about all he could bowl. I know they need to make the grand final first but you'd think if he did it again this week there would be no way you could risk him over the four days. I reckon he should rest up this week and hope they make it so he can be fit for the big one.

I'm tipping Naps in an upset. They seem to be coming good at the right time of the year and I don't like East.

I think Wendouree should win with everyone talking about a grassy track i think Johnson will be too strong for Mount Clear and Wendouree also having the better bats too.

east over naps, naps better pace line up but east batting i think will be to strong

i think the bowling will determine the other game, both teams have some bloody good bats and i think they can all play a patient innings if needed

Off course Dippa should of played and every other good player should play in the last round. Wendouree had to win to make the finals and Dippa is a star.

Sammy Miller bowels ok but is no way going to cover the lost overs of a bowler who played first grade cricket in Melbourne and Sydney for ten years. However he will have to maintain a good line and length as he will have to bowel some overs.

Dippa can't play and he won't play. Don't worry about whether he wants to or not. If you can't you can't. He will concentrate on the granny IF wendouree are lucky enough to make it.

if wendouree make the finals i doubt luck will be involved. Pyke, Skinner and Miller are all in fairly decent form so if one of those three can bat for 40 overs or more i think they will win.

Mt Clear have some very good bowlers in Kentish and Blake but will they get the ball in the right areas enough to trouble the batsmen?

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

The other game depends a lot on Rowdy Scott. I have always thought that he is the best batsmen Naps have got, not on ability but mental toughness. If he can make 3 centuries in a row Naps are a big chance to knock the Easties off.

I reckon the other factor would be our bowling line-up...no rest against this attack so a lot will rely on yater and irvs...

naps over east, east are getting a little ahead of themselves and naps are coming into good form.

Why spin on Austar Arena. The talk is it is covered with grass?
Didn't East play north there in the last round of the season and 30 wickets fell in two days to mediums pacers? I may be wrong about where this game was played but if it was at North then surely it is not going to turn into a dust bowl in a week?
Wendouree spinners are underated and i believe are equal to Mt Clears. McDonald taken a lot of wickets, Webb didn't bowled for 18 months but now has five games under his belt and took wickets last week.
Tim Miller may play for Dipper and as i have said earlier has taken 8 wickets against Mt Clear in two games this year, although i suspect the mounites wouldn't mind if he played in the pressure of a semi final

yeah that was last week and it was a new pitch, now that grass is almost gone which by the look of it, it might do something later on.
