Or better still why don't you work on your weaknesses and start turning them into strengths.

Any thoughts on the lower grade finals? I see naps and wendouree have all team in. Naps usually pretty strong in the 2's but lost to point last week so should be a good game.

If we get Brad Palmer early in the twos we would be confident of turning it around from last match. In the ones, happy to back us to win against East in a tough match.

I see there are 11/16 teams to play finals (1sts - 4ths) from the clubs with strong junior numbers - us (Naps) East & Wendouree. A good sign for these clubs.

Dear Pidgeon,
is it positive to comment on the way someone else quotes on this blog?
doubtful.

if you start a negative line of posts then be prepared for those to retaliate in a negative manner or better yet, don't bother posting on here.

do you have any positive thoughts for any game this week or are you too busy reading that hand-guide of prpoper quoting on a website that is a bit of fun to read when we are talking about cricket rather than correct grammar?

We were pleased to get our 4 junior teams (1 x under 16 and 3 x under 14) into the finals this year. Seconds obviously snuck in with lots of kids. Big future.

I assume the Western will be a road as per usual, Sticker. Bowling is for mugs in Ballarat, isn't it!

Did I spill your chips and gravy on Saturday night, Irv? Steady on there, son. We were a pretty reasonable side this year with our young list. Naps did get over us easily in the end but don't forget we beat a full-strength Wendouree well and almost beat you blokes (14 runs short) after doing pretty well against East the year before. Top two batting aggregate. Second and third in bowling aggregate.

Good stuff SteveO, you might have had individual brilliance in that team of yours but it wasn't enough to make finals. No-one remembers who finished where unless you made finals. Who was it that said Josh White would struggle in the last few games ... good call in the end. Good luck to all playing this weekend.

We are pleased we are going in the right direction, Wise Man. Played 16 blokes in the ones including 4 first gamers.

And having made the finals in the previous two years, you are miles off the mark. Nobody remembers who finished where unless you're in the Big Dance at the end.

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

hit the nail on the head there steveO. The only side that I can remember making finals appearances is wendouree as they have (choked) lost the last 3 semi's. Ohh ohhh will they do it again. Assumingly they aren't favourites this time but wouldn't it be a shame to see them lose 4 in a row. S miller needs a big one along with the 2007/2008 cleary medalist e johnson. Any other locals on here have any thoughts as to who could hold the key to the games being played tomorrow, who is the player most likely or needed to break the games open......??????

I really think Mount Clear need someone to take a bagful if they are to win. Blake or Kentish must fire because after that Pellisier and Stephens aren't much to handle and then you throw in some spin. Wendouree bats will handle the mountie attack with ease i reckon.

In the other game I think Naps need somebody to stand up big time in the bowling too. I reckon Trav Faulkhead may be the surprise packet after resuming from injury a couple of weeks ago and will take a 5 fa.

i agree 100% that Trav is the x factor at naps. he has the ability to take a bag or make plenty of runs on his day (and he is well over due)

Kentish is Mt Clears most important player all-round he can win you the game with either bat or ball in one session if he is firing.

Wendouree will need Johnno firing if Dipper doesn't play and one of their big guns to fire with the bat. Pyke appears to be in pretty good form.

East will need one of their top 5 bats to make a big score because i think that they have the least penetration in their bowling attack. Irv is the one they need to play to his full ability all-round.

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

Poor ol' Dipper is no chance unfortunately...nice bloke but seeing his injury, not in the hunt (i may be proved wrong). People have been talking about Pikey and Sammy Miller to do the job for Wendouree, has everyone overlooked one M Skinner?

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

mt clear v naps. Gary davies would have had that at massive odds. Naps massive upset. well done fellas. mt clear v wendouree was on ethe best games of cricket ive seen for a while.
Not a lot of runs on a slow wicket at best. The tension, the drama, the buzz, the crowd, the atmosphere. Some very crucial run outs at pivotal times played a big part in the outcome.
looking forwards to the next 2 weeks. you and me colonel, you and me!!!!!!!

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

Well, we're back to where we started, with the last time Naps/Sebas and Mt.Clear met being in round 1. Close to impossible to read anything into that game because it was so early in the season and most players take a few games to work into the season. Looks like a good match up between two balanced sides with a mix of solid bowling and batting options on both sides.

Mt. Clear v Wendouree semi was a rippa, with a couple of terrific innings from Jeffrey on Sat and Skinner on Sunday. These two guys were certainly a class above for the weekend on a challenging batting wicket. Memorable game with the old saying of "pity there had to be a loser" ringing true.

With the quality of game and skills in the semi just wondering what guys think about a small entry fee to the finals games. I had an engineer friend recently comment about charging less for a service communicates an undervaluing of your skills. Is it possible that by charging a small entry fee, people might take our games a bit more seriously and come more??? Any thoughts???

By the way, Waka, how did your meeting with Ronny Jennings go??

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

rumour has it a coulpe of lads from the semi final games may be missing a week or two from cricket.....Jeffers innings against the red caps was the usual individual performance you would expect from such a bloke...the skipper fletcher played a shocking shot which should have cost his side the game. From all reports the way the mt clear and east boys handled themselves over the weekend was only just short of disgraceful. Jeffries should get a few games from his outburst and irving may face a similar outcome. Pitty the fools who have to pl;ay in the grand final with naps being the form side and wendouree just falling short against a pitiful bowling attack in the way of mt clear. The mountie boys will have to make a mountain of runs against the nappers to go further than their abismal effort last year after throwing away the unlossable grand final.
