yeah that was last week and it was a new pitch, now that grass is almost gone which by the look of it, it might do something later on.

Fair point then. Maybe for blake, kentish, johnson s. miller they should use a new pitch this week.
Your points of the spin be crucial anyway is true, both sides will use their spinners to tie down batters for a lot of overs anway. That it the way mounties play and Wendouree may now have to do the same with no dipper

Why spin on Austar Arena. The talk is it is covered with grass?
Didn't East play north there in the last round of the season and 30 wickets fell in two days to mediums pacers? I may be wrong about where this game was played but if it was at North then surely it is not going to turn into a dust bowl in a week?
Wendouree spinners are underated and i believe are equal to Mt Clears. McDonald taken a lot of wickets, Webb didn't bowled for 18 months but now has five games under his belt and took wickets last week.
Tim Miller may play for Dipper and as i have said earlier has taken 8 wickets against Mt Clear in two games this year, although i suspect the mounites wouldn't mind if he played in the pressure of a semi final

also pyke enjoys facing spin. you can expect he will be trying to put Fletcher & Nicholson onto the roof of the sports club.

I reckon the other factor would be our bowling line-up...no rest against this attack so a lot will rely on yater and irvs...

if Corden bowls he would be the medium target Yates will go after. He will use his feet at him and swing hard. you would want to bowl just that little bit shorter to Yater with no width and he could get himself out.

i think you will find theres more to east batting line up than doggy and myself.. you dont finish on top relying on two blokes.. by the way, ive only played after xmas so theres a few other guys that have got us to the finals...

that is fair Irv.

you and Yater though are the most experienced blokes in the batting line-up and are the mainstays from the success 2 years in a row.

Wright, Gardiner, Thorne are all yet to play finals where it is as much a mental thing as ability.

mt clear over wendouree, mt clear got a good all round team and spin will win on the austar wicket.
naps over east, east are getting a little ahead of themselves and naps are coming into good form.

i played at austar last week and played at austar 4 ten years and i can safely say the medium pacers will be more affective than spinners.. even if jock uses the same wicket as last week it will make no difference.. still plenty of grass on it.. it turns a bit but very slow.. spinners can play a part, but the bulk of the wickets will come from seamers.. naps are hitting a bit of form but hardly beaten good teams last couple of games.. i dont know how you come up with east getting ahead of ourselves though.. lost one game for the year and that was first game.. since then have been pretty consistent..most of the guys in the team have played a lot of finals cricket the last few years and we know better than most that you take it one game at a time.. we cant wait for the contest this weekend..as long as the rain stays away it should be a great game...

that said though cordo has taken yates wicket the last couple matches..and has really been consistently tight on that slightly short of length area lately..it'll be a good contest nevertheless

Did I spill your chips and gravy on Saturday night, Irv? Steady on there, son. We were a pretty reasonable side this year with our young list. Naps did get over us easily in the end but don't forget we beat a full-strength Wendouree well and almost beat you blokes (14 runs short) after doing pretty well against East the year before. Top two batting aggregate. Second and third in bowling aggregate.

I can't see how anyone will be "ahead of themselves" this weekend. There will be some sleepless nights on Friday.

Think about these ones:
East only just got over Naps earlier this season;
Wendouree played Mt Clear twice with one win each, but Wendouree won the last one easily.

And then if you're in a side that gets to the Grand Final:
Wendouree haven't played Naps (wash-out);
East have beaten Wend. fairly easily;
Mt Clear have beaten Naps easily.

If you went purely on form and head-to-head you'd say it will go down to East beating Wendouree in the final, but I wouldn't dare. The semi is the toughest one to win and anything is possible.

Good luck all.

HAHAHA.... Merely kicking tyres shakes. Just seeing what research has been done. We'll see what happens though. Im tipping the eastern to play a little more true than the northern. They are more than happy to 'clip' hell out of their wickets by the looks, obviously this is an aesthetic as all other wickets on the table didnt posess a 100% uniformity of grass. Results from this were a definate inconsistency in bounce at times. Should be an interesting final the wend/mt clear one.

Any thoughts on the lower grade finals? I see naps and wendouree have all team in. Naps usually pretty strong in the 2's but lost to point last week so should be a good game.

Another good game should be the contest between wendouree and ballarat-redan at the city in the 2s. If it's the road that is normally served up there trust ballarat-redan batsman dean whitcher to come into his own. played against him earlier on in the year and he carved us up. a fine young talent who hasnt yet been tried at first XI level yet but definately a class act who has a very bright future. rumour has it that he a bit unsettled at the club and has been approached by another club in the BCA

Good stuff SteveO, you might have had individual brilliance in that team of yours but it wasn't enough to make finals. No-one remembers who finished where unless you made finals. Who was it that said Josh White would struggle in the last few games ... good call in the end. Good luck to all playing this weekend.

Maybe he should quit now so I can take his spot on the weekend? That's absolute rubbish Murphy, Whitchy wouldn't spend so much time up at the club if he was unhappy. Get him to have a chat to me if you know what you're on about.
