Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

Clearly not a big fan of Mt.Clear thickedge! Will just have to live with the underdog tag by the looks of your assessment. Think we'll find that the final is a pretty competitive match up.

Yeah sounds like sour grapes there thickedge. Wendouree only have themsleves to blame and if you say they had a pitiful bowling attack only reflects back on the wendouree bats. Wendouree surely must be asking themselves how they lost that one but when under a bit of pressure along comes stupid running. I think the turning point was the first run out. he was out by a mile and wendouree struggled from then on. Fletchers run out off his own bowling was very good.

Grand final will be good and i think it even money at this stage although if Jeffreys is out will be a massive loss as he is in top form.

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

was away for the weekend, so saw none of the semis. sounds like 2 cracking games though.

interesting, nothing in the papers re jeffers getting reported, but some on here saying that he is? is this rite or was it just a caution? also, if he is reported, then i guess that puts fletcher on report as well?

anyone confirm or deny?

I heard that there were approx 3 reports from Mount Clear and also heard that a few custard heads made it into the book.

I just hope that if these blokes do deserve a little holiday for there actions, the leaague doesnt go lightly on them just because they have a GF to play this week.
I mean I may be speaking vastly out of reality here, but say if Jeffers does deserve and does get suspended, well then so be it, everyone know's the guy is a mouth and missing a GF may be just the wake up call he needs after all these years to pull his head in.

agreed, but there is no way in hell the bca are going to suspend jeffers from the gf. none. they have been 2 soft on his antics for way to long, & letting him off this week, whilst it may be tough, needs to happen if his antics were worthy of a report. but it will not happen.

Exactly right, thats why I say this. It pissess me off too cos I dont think it will happen, but if it deserves to happen whether it be a Home and Away game, or even the GF then the BCA need to have the balls and make it happen.

rumour has it a coulpe of lads from the semi final games may be missing a week or two from cricket.....Jeffers innings against the red caps was the usual individual performance you would expect from such a bloke...the skipper fletcher played a shocking shot which should have cost his side the game. From all reports the way the mt clear and east boys handled themselves over the weekend was only just short of disgraceful. Jeffries should get a few games from his outburst and irving may face a similar outcome. Pitty the fools who have to pl;ay in the grand final with naps being the form side and wendouree just falling short against a pitiful bowling attack in the way of mt clear. The mountie boys will have to make a mountain of runs against the nappers to go further than their abismal effort last year after throwing away the unlossable grand final.

jeffers innings was the usual KING at his best, hes playing as good as ever!! the pitiful mountie bowling attack defended 208 againts arguably the best battin line up. geez what a ******** attack???? and if jeffers goes for sayin lets hav him a 3rd time it shows where cricket is at. congrats nappers, and keep writing the mounties off boys thats what they love best!!!!

If anyone goes to the tribunal they are guilty before they walk through the door and so is the captain. The prick running it does not care who you are, and the umpires are supported 100%. The best that you can hope for is the get the captain on a suspended sentence.

after a win like that you wouldnt think mounties might have the edge over naps but otherwise it should be another cracking 2 weeks ahead.

If Jeffrey gets suspended for what happened yesty it will be one of the biggest disgraces i have ever seen. Im not sure on the ruling but i thought u have to directly dispute a decision in order to get reported. Time will tell i guess.

Jeffrey was a disgrace throughout the game. Huge appeals when it clearly wasn't out.
He should have been reported on the Saturday as when he was clearly out stumped said to umpire you are f****** kidding and "that was a f****** disgrace" What ever happened yesterday was irrelevent. He should and will get at least one. Fletcher no much better in a putrid tirade of personal abuse at A. Beacham.

We were pleased to get our 4 junior teams (1 x under 16 and 3 x under 14) into the finals this year. Seconds obviously snuck in with lots of kids. Big future.

I assume the Western will be a road as per usual, Sticker. Bowling is for mugs in Ballarat, isn't it!

Its a batsmans game these days. Western Oval should be renamed Concrete Colluseum as the outfield is as hard as rock. Point will win the twos for me with rowdy leckie to take 5 fa - just make sure you bat first !!! In the ones, surely we are due. It will be pandemonium when we win. 6/4 Fav that the reports go missing in the mail from the Mounties game !!!!!

Worst case scenario it would be a toss up between four players. Paul Mckee, Cam Snowden, Tim Mcleod but the most chance would be youngster Matty Ward. Never played a senior game but would be needed because we need a keeper. Handy bat too but would bat down the order i think.

Hey Don you may be able to tell us does Jeffrey have a suspended sentence or caution hanging over is head from a previous indescretion? What are the feelings about the pending tribunal hearings in the mounties camp? Do you guys think there is mush to worry about?

fair call Stick. Its disappointing when finals are played on sceming wickets that give batsmen no chance but its equally disappointing when their played on roads and concrete outfields. Very bizarre at the 2nds yesterday when by just after tea on the 2nd day Point had medium pacers on and about 6 on the boudary just trying to minimise fours. Not a criticism of Point - if I was captain I would've done exactly the same and full credit for them for getting 354 on day 1 to enable them to apply those tactics. But it just didn't seem like the type of contest you'd expect in a semi Final. And I see the scores from the semi at the City Oval were even higher.................. Obviously the drought is no one's fault but is there any reason apart from flies why Naps wouldn't be considered as a finals venue for 2nds??????

As far as the firsts look this week well Mt Clear definitely have the experience and wiser heads but Naps is full of momentum and some times momentum can be very hard to stop. One of the problems at Naps in recent years was even when we won games we would just fall across the line - like chase small totals and limp in 8 down or defend massive scores with only 10 or 15 runs to spare. But not so this year. Last 5 wins over Darley (twice), Coronet, Point and East have all been extremely convincing. We've being playing cut throat games since basically after Xmas and have coped with that pressure of having to win well. The bowling is absolutely relentless. So you see off Thommo and Ringo (which is difficult enough) and then on comes Trav Faulkhead, Cordo and Branchy. Teams will need to bat extremely well to set or chase 250 against that attack at the Eastern. I guess Mt Clear would be slight favourites but am still very very happy with where we're at............

Unless you are Matt Skinner and were out there most of the batting innings you dont really have a place to comment on the decisions. Paul Jeffrey (apart from the umpire) is in the best position to tell whether it was close or not. And as for the Beacham incident, i think it goes a little deeper.

I'm not Mat Skinner and i never mentioned that particular incident of Mat's at all. I just commented there were a number of decesions throughout the day that had huge appeals (with huge amounts of disbelief they were rejected) and from my vantage point appeared as if they were not close at all. I'm sure whatever the issue is for Beacham and Fletch it does go deeper and from what i know of Beachy im sure he has playe his part in other incidents in the past but it was a bit full on and un called for on a cricket field in my opinion. Not saying im right but it did seem a very full on.
