Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Speaking of milestones, allow me to publicly congratulate Frank Loiacono who is playing his 300th senior game for the Bentleigh ANA Cricket Club this weekend. Frank, who is now running Bentleigh ANA's Milo In-2-Cricket program, has scored more than 5,000 runs and taken over 200 wickets. This milestone includes 136 first eleven games.

Frank will most likely not see this message!

What's with the question marks, Arch?

Hi Uncle,
The question marks are the games i'm having trouble with, hence my comments about being a tough round.

Good luck to your boys, hope the catching improves for you.

Congrats also to Leon on a great milestone, i played against him and learned quickly about taking him on in the field, my excuse though, he was younger.

Also, congrats must go to the hairy one at ANA, Frankie has been a great player over the years, a champion bloke who is now putting allot back for the club.
He was baptised as a player very early on in his career by one of his mentors, and hasn't looked back, some others may have been critical of the baptism at the time, not Frank, he'll know what i mean.;):D

Congratulations to both Frank Loiacano and Leon Mcgaw who Merl remembers as very young lads when he first saw them in action many years ago.Great servants of their respective clubs and I hope they pull off a win to commemerate their milestones.

Arch,

Maybe we are flogging a dead horse and Jimmy obviously has no power as if we are to believe that Congress reads the BCF why haven't they taken up any of the multitude of good ideas provided on the BCF?

Jimmy

Heard your dulcet tone on the SEN a little bit later than the advertised 10:30 start and heard that J word again. As far as merl is concerned they will be the Jelly noughts until they return to a position of power again, which I sincerely hope is many moons away.

The wintery weather is not looking to good and it could provide us with another one dayer next week if the heavens continue to open up.

until next time.............vino sipping poster......... Merlot

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Arch,

Have to agree with you who would play turf cricket in Melb?No subbies,no VTCA,no Premier 3 & 4ths as Saturday was bathed in brilliant sunshine.

Anyway it left more space in the Sunday papers that the CMCA scores finally found their way into. Some very interesting progress scores which will see many games go down to the wire.

Burger

Where are your tips as without them you will never catch Merlot and intheouta unless you touch base this week you will be deleted from the memory bank.

PDog you are the last one to get dispensation for late Sat morning tips the rules are mid night Friday and in future a 2 point deduction.

A couple of you tipped out of order and in future this will incur a 1 point penalty.Merl goes to the trouble of the printing the fixture for you so please use it.

Bottsy see you were among the wickets in the real cricket match must be more to your liking than the slap and run stuff.

Uncle Mick,

Looks like it was a hard day at the office and I can see why Arch had the ? marks.

Jimmy

Missed the show this morning as the Beemer was out of range and could not pick up the signal.Did I miss anything?

Am thinking of making a hit and run trip to India to see the Vics in the final and tidy up a few business interests while I am there if they make it so I may be out of action for a day or two unless the trusty laptop is able to fire up yet again.

until next time............... vino sipping poster......... Merlot

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

I wouldn't say yesterday was brilliant sunshine as my u/12's lost about 45 minutes due to rain. Does anyone know how to get junior results on the CMCA website ?

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Interesting finish to our game on Saturday. Would like to know people's opinion on this matter.

Union lost their ninth wicket on the fifth ball of the last over. No batsman came out to bat for the last ball and end of play was called.

The scorebook was written down as 19.5 overs bowled by myself meaning the Union boys knew there was still a ball to be bowled.

It does sound petty but at the end of the day and especially early in the year percentage is important.

Look forward to hearing responses.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

I suggest you boys claim the 10th wicket, Bottsy. If they're not prepared to send someone out and haven't declared, then it should read as all out. That said, if they batted with 10 because they're expecting someone to bowl next week who couldn't bat on the weekend, common courtesy would've been to let you know they were declaring. It's really up to your club whether they want to chase the percentage.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

The strange thing was the next batsman was there ready and padded up. Unless he had taken his pads off too early thinking he wasn't going to be needed.

Timed out. If they declare then they call them in.I assume you had an umpire? Isn't that why they get the big bucks?

A captain shall notify the opposing captain and the umpires of his decision to declare or to forfeit an innings. Laws of cricket.(Law 14 Part 3)

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

We had Steve Allen who is normally very efficient. It is baffling. You would've have thought Union should have told Steve there was still a ball to be bowled to maybe get a couple of more runs.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Only a bowler would think of that! Ha Ha! Bloody oath I wanted six. It's been a while!

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Thanks for letting me put in my tips Sat morning Merl....must admit was out of action last week for a long period of time. Still got the tips in b4 the game started, in future will remember to put them in friday. That 1st week must of been a fluke....only 4 last week- back to earth with a thud! Like Brighton Districts this week.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Bottsy,

Knowing that Union's firsts decided to play one short in order to allow Veitch to play this weekend, maybe Union made some late changes to cater for the player in their ones missing out, to go down to play aganist you this Saturday?

Having said this, surely a team sheet was provided pre match or by tea... or at least give you a heads up? Worth investigating I would say.

Yep sorry old fella, had a bux day on friday & didnt get round to it, & was more worried about my sleep on saturday morn than the tipping contest.. My bad, trust me I paid the price in the field for 60+ overs & having to watch the visitors reach 0/21 off 24 overs I was truggling to stay awake!!!!

I will give you my tips if your prepared to accept them at the half way stage of the match, I can honestly say I only know of 2 up to date scores (Centrals in Wooly, who I would tip every week & Le Page in Longy- who I will tip every week)

So here goes-

Longy-
ESandy
WBent
Uniting
Le Page
Washups
Union

Walnut-
Centrals
Esandy
Union
Uniting
United
Cluden..

Maybe impose a late tipping fine of -1 for late tips, surely if you submit by 12 noon on the saturday thats ok??

Happy to take the -1 if your wisdomness decides..

Cheers,
