Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Merl my man i think i am a very good chance to get 12/12 right at least 11/12.

I think you should reconsider the leader been allowed to post his comments, it might help the people battling down the ladder to stop the run away PUPP.

:D

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Brett,

Not sure how many warnings you want any further mention of your procrastination about how you tip, will incur a minus 3 point penalty. As you will see from the the points blind freddy could have tipped well this week.

So disappointed that there are not more post mortems I am considering penalties for all who don't post mortemise.I can't have BCFers just giving us tips and nothing in return.

A typical post mortem would be as follows:

Jellies starting to thicken and set instead of wobbling,Elwood get the job done as a good side should, routine win for union against hapless golf club who are officially gone,Omega short change Wallett Park,West Bentleigh starting to earn their million dollar price tag,and flag favourites our very own B's mob shallack the lakers.

In the Bluff Rd cup where the Woolnough scribe hasn't lived up to last week's performance and unlike Merl is he ready to come out of the closet yet.

Young Omega side ease past the October champions,Union sneak past Uncle Mick's side from the Grand Hyatt,ANA with only Sugar tipping a win burst the RSL bubble, the oasis less Bottsy leads the westars out of the desert with a big over the laker seconds, the Burger Bourbon led Centrals pull of the first outright of the season despite Merl writing them off and perhaps my favourite for the week

Merl's new love child team Cluden watch as the Jelly twos snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

So there you go Brett and others give us a bit of why a team won or didn't win.

To the business end of the round with the BCF two favourites Uncle Mick and Merl move into the top 5 of the BTC with you know looking over his shoulder.

Rd 1 Rd 2 Rd 3 Rd 4
1 Brett 8 7 7 11 33
2 Pdog 11 4 7 10 32
3 Ord Bloke 7 6 6 11 30

14 Bottsy 9 3 3 8 23
15 Clock 7 3 4 8 22
16 Burger 3 6 4 8 21

the round 5 fixture is as follows: and make sure you are in by Peter Peter and no babbling on about your selections penalties will apply:

Longy
RD 5
Omega v Carnegie South
Bent Ana v Bent Utg
East Sandy v Le Page
Mackie v Wash Park
Bri Union v Elwood
West Bent v King Hth

Bluff Rd Cup

Brighton Dist v Moorabbin West
Hamp Cent v East Sandy
Bent Utg v Bent Ana
Highett West v Hampton Utd
Cluden v Omega
Aspen ERSL v Bri Union

Good luck to all tipsters as the season and the BTC starts to hot up.Please advise if I have incorrectly tallied your tips and Clocker are you back in the country to do your Rd 5 tips?

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Hello All,

Firstly I enjoy reading the comments in this forum, find it very interesting without having to slander anyone specifically.

The reason for this message is that I have just been going over the results for the senior grades, and have found some minor oversights. The following games (not including Round 4 games) have only progress results entered, not final results.

E Grade - Rd 1 - Shamrock 1 v Southside East Caufield 2
F Grade - Rd 2 - Omega 5 v Aspendale-Edithvale RSL 3
G Grade - Rd 3 - Heatherton 1 v Mackie 4
H Grade - Rd 2 - Aspendale Edithvale RSL 4 v Omega 6

Hopefully if anyone from these clubs are reading this, they can get these oversights corrected quickly so that these results will show on the ladders.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Longy report up on Website also.

Post Mortem

Longy just about set now, three near certainties to get in and a fancied 4th, maybe Utg or ANA can upset the apple cart but they can't make a mistake from here.

Bluffy not so clear, 3 near certs (outright helped one of them), but a bunch of others in the mix, 3 or 4 seasons over already!!!

Then again, my tipping has been disgraceful although not as bad as Clock, despite his studious statistic studying.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Merl, my good man. Great to see the HWCC website is getting some hits. We've been making an effort to keep it updated after a 1/10 rating earlier in the year.
Last Wedensday's T20 was a great night thoroughly enjoyed by all at HWCC. Unfortunately, Uncle Mick copped a heavy knock on the left mitt trying to catch one in his follow through in the latter overs of said game. Currently sporting a plaster cast and waiting on more x-ray results, I'm hoping the news isn't as bad as first diagnosed. Fear not though, as I only need one hand to type, so you'll still have to put up with my dribble on the BCF.

As for post mortems, East Sandy are just going about their business with the white man's Murali starring. Barney is close to full fitness, Ryan Pearce is back and after having shoulder surgery this year Pitty will be sniffing around for flag number 37 come Feb-March. No real surprises from the weekend results in Longy.
Chop got a much deserved win in his 200th. Good to see Panther back. Hopefully it's given him the itch cos with his bowling I think they're a very good chance to halt the juggernaut as opposed to the incosistent efforts New Wallet Park have put up thus far. Ommies & Le Page are showing signs of improvement; Mackie, Elwood & Union are doing the biz; Bentleigh Uniting are a player or 2 short; Redbacks had a shocker, but there are some good signs from the previous matches and Old Wallet Park look to be on the slide. Then there's ANA who, just when you think are beginning to show promise, falter once again and the less said about the golf club's disastrous start, the better. It's all about blooding kids for them now. Can't see much changing from last year in the top flight. Top 4 will come from East Sandy, West Bentleigh, Mackie, Brighton Union and Elwood.

In the Bluff Rd Cup, as expected Moorabbin West have set the pace. Omega have been a picture of consistency and Hampton Central are looking ominous after obliterating Hampton United. Brighton District have gone awfully quiet on here after 2 losses in a row. They'll fare similar to last season with a couple more surprise wins before the season is out. AERSL got a reality check from ANA, but that should only be a minor hiccup. ANA like their seniors show some promise, but are still lacking that consistency. Cluden are looking as dangerous as they were in Jan-Feb of this year with 3 on the trot. Brighton Union broke through for their first win and will need to get a move on if they want to give the finals a shake. Huge game for them coming up. Speaking of getting a move on, the same could be said for the 'Burra, Hampton United & Bentleigh Uniting. We came from 1-3 last year to jag a finals spot, so it's not beyond these sides, but another loss before Xmas and it might as well be curtains. The 'juggernaut replacements' are in dire straits with the same names popping up week in week out for no result in the W column. Hard to see where their first win is going to come from.
Top 4 starting to get a break on the field, but there are still 7 rounds to be played out.

Tips for next week are:

Longmuir
Omega
Uniting
East Sandy
Mackie
Union
West Bentleigh

Bluff Rd Cup
Moorabbin West
Hampton Central
Bentleigh Uniting
Highett West
Cluden
Brighton Union

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

any news as to what happened to the jellies on the weekend !! heard a rumor cluden may have had 8 men at one stage !

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

9 players. One of the boys within their camp tells me it was a pretty soft effort. The jellynoughts were 4/219 when 2 players were 'injured' and left the field. Seemed to spark the boys up though cos they took 6/19 after that.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

"Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."
Now Merlot, there are a number of clubs out there guilty of dipping into the hard earned savings of a club to pay a player,or convincing a generous benefactor to sponsor a player or three. It is a free market and certainly I think most of us are not communists, unless you are a Greenie.
Wallet Park set the trend with a number of high profile players ie Whatmore,Yallop, Watkins, Pickering and ofcourse Mr Caffrey who did at least win them their only GF in Longy. They have not had much luck with their selections over the years.Speaking of WP, they are playing with fire. After such a convincing win in Round 1 they have gone backwards at an alarming rate.To their credit they are playing kids, however when you have a proven run maker in C.Gorrie playing C Grade, I do not believe it is a luxury they can continue to entertain, not whilst they sit one miserly win ahead of the golf club.Sooner or later the Golfers will hit their straps and who knows. ANA had it all early on Saturday. They cut through the top order of Elwoods alleged two man batting line up, and then nothing..Unfortunately a lack of variety may have caught out ANA.Tim Finn had the last laugh, but it is a long season.Vorbs just cannot speak highly enough about this coach. The Machine looked in trouble and then a run out and it is all over. How does that happen??? Really thought Uniting had a little more backbone than that. The machine are in blistering form and woe betide the men with the big wallets. Buddha may want to feast upon the WP bowling attack. Ahh the juggeranut, just continue to win and get better as the year progresses. Bruce Haley and the Spiders (good name for a band) are at the crossroads. A win is an absolute necessity for them on Saturday and the same goes for the young ones at the training school. The Spiders have three winnable games coming up and if they can pinch the next three it will leave them at 5/2 going into the new year and a real chance for a finals shot.Le Page just fell short again and this one really hurt. With one win to show albeit against WP, they have had two respectable outings and fallen short on both occasions.Finals are quickly fading.West Bentleigh got out of jail, but they are far from convincing at the moment. A somewhat straighfroward match awaits them on the weekend and hopefully a few runs for some of their batsmen. Finally the Hoops, with a regulation win but a couple of moments where the feisty Golfers dared to challenge the Hooped ones. Gentleman Alexander Gerdan once again provided some backbone for the Hoops who are quickly getting the reputation of being the Indian cricket team equivalent of the CMCA. Paid the big bucks but cannot get the job done when it counts against the top teams..
In Woolnough it is crisis time for Hampton United. Backs up against the wall, I am told their fielding was abysmal in Week 1 and their batting in week 2 was not upto I Grade standard let alone Woolnough. Some serious soul searching to be done by all concerned and come out hard against an inconsistent Highett West who have their own issues to deal with. Moorabbin West minus one or two players got the job done and they are really humming along. Centrals are now threatening to unleash, but lets wait one or two more matches before we start pencilling them in the GF spot.Irrespective an outright win is an impressive feat and notoriously difficult to obtain. ANA ended up as convincing victors against a disappointing Aspendale-Edithvale.Another good prospect unveiled by ANA so their youth policy is coming along nicely.East Sandy are gone and will now shape the finals, which could be interesting. Cluden keep winning despite being written off every week. Brighton Centrals are now wobbly and my pre season prediction may come to fruition, but still a long way to go. Omega marching along with a mission in their eyes, trying to redeem themselves for last seasons horrors whilst the Hoops starting to come good with Zeus looking quite ominous with the bat.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Evening Gents on this Balmy evening,

Uncle Mick,

Best wishes for a speedy recovery and I hope the injury doesn't effect your tipping ability.Great post Mortem ( PM ) that's what we need.Who is responsible for advertising the T20 scores as they should use the CMCA defacto website the BCF to publish their scores that is where everyone comes for their information.Merl may have another glass or 10 tonight after hearing his new love child team Cluden beat the Jellies with 8 players I could die and go to heaven or some may say Hell!

Lindblum knight

good luck trying getting on to Barrack or Hiliary to get those collective clubs off their back sides as scores are due by 10pm of a Monday night.

Jimmy

Thanks for getting the font right and another great report and your PM was top shelf as usual.

Quilton,

You are on a minus 3 point warning for posting tips and no PM we don't want any leeches here who just use the BCF for their own good.

Brett

Where is your PM you've blown the trumpet now let's put a few words to the song and it was noticed you did not pick either of the Lakers teams while Uncle Mick and Sugar both stuck to company policy and tipped their teams respectively.

Woolnough Scribe

In or out of the closet another great report and Merl particularly liked the Merl inspired gold cap park line which can also be known as Jelly park particularly in the twos where I see the fiscal one nearly had more wickets than runs!!!

Burger

I am expecting a big PM from you following the lazarus like performance from both you and the team it maybe be time for some Burger Bourbom odds now that you are on the way back.By the way who did you hand the baton to in the twos after your sudden elevation?

time for another frothy

until next time......... vino sipping poster........ Merlot

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Sorry Clocker,

forgot to welcome you back home and hope the trip was successful.

Merl has a few sins some would say he commits a sin every time he posts on the BCF but never the less we need to keep the wheels in motion.

A Great PM but wouldn't we expect anything less from such a learned and well educated and travelled gentleman.

I hope the form guide produces a few more winners for you this week.

Merl

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Merl i did not tip the BUCC lads and i was proven correct. Bucc have always battled against the machine especially at Bailey park.
Just trying to tip on my little knowledge i have for the game, picking with my head and not my heart you would say i really wont to meet you and take those bottles of red of you.
Anyway you are doing a good job with the BCF tipping comp keep it up, i will have a installment at some stage but have to head off to the land of Nod.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

A group email is sent around with scores and Noel Pullen works out the ladders after each round of the T20 comp, Merl. I’m involved in the process and will include the results from Rd.1 at the bottom of this post. I’ll endeavour to continue doing so for the remaining games. You can always check the HWCC website for a detailed report as well.

I was interested to read in a post that the Machine have it over Bentleigh Uniting at Bailey Park. I wasn't aware they’d played many games there to make it somewhat their fortress. Good effort all the same.

Does big Al want to elaborate on the potential tribunal hearings?

Results
Brighton Union 7/143 (20 overs) def Highett West 9/100 (20 overs)
Elsternwick 7/84 (17 overs) def Cluden 10/84 (14 overs)

Ladder
Brighton Union 4 pts 1.83%
Elsternwick 4 pts 1.50%
Cluden 0 pts 0.66%
Highett West 0 pts 0.54%

Next Matches - Wednesday 18 November
Elsternwick v. Brighton Union @ Elsternwick
Cluden v. Highett West @ Cluden

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Evening All,

Just back from a little jaunt up the Calder to the Goldfields town of Bendigo where a young chinese lad sitting next to me on the tourist tram informed me that there was a tribunal last night.

One D.Frew was up on one or two charges he wasn't really sure of the details but it involved some harrassment of a young batter and a send off of another I think

Chairman Andrew ( not Phil yet ) Hamburgler and Jumbo were the presiding judges.Obviously the other 5 listed tribunal members had a cold in 38 degrees that prevented them sitting.

Only one BBQ laid the charges ( the other heard nothing ) and a very lucky hot handed wicket keeper can thank himself lucky he wasn't up on equipment abuse after his gloves and inners became so hot they left his hands in a very demonstrative fashion.

DF having an impeccable clean sheet in the centuries he has been playing with a multiple of clubs was slapped on the wrist with a reprimand I think ,
and not doubt Chairman Phil will have more to say on the next youtube episode. There was no truth in the rumour he was wearing a gold cap at the tribunal!!!

Sugar

Another great ANA cricket show but you looked a bit casual without a tie when you are normally a picture of satorial elegance!

Uncle Mick

Thanks for the T20 info and I will visit the HW website on a regular basis as a fruitless trip to the MJFWS gave me tribunal information from 3 years ago but someone keeps telling me Congress is reading the BCF so if you are please update the website or just pass it over to Uncle Mick and he could at least get some current content on it while also instigating a archive button instead of leaving those tired old news stories on there longer than a used by milk carton.

Brett

You have already met me why would you want to again. Many of the BCF'ers have met me they just don't realise.

In the words of Lynn Anderson 'I never promised you a rose garden' which translated for you, if you are lucky enough to maintain your lofty BTC position at season's end, means I never said I was presenting the BTC trophy personally.Jimmy has never answered my request to have it presented on his radio program and my initial thoughts are that one of a multitude of those Moorabbin West posties could deliver it to the Ernst's bunker wherever that maybe.Alternatively it could be left in a railway locker or Merl who like Carlton ( who didn't Deliver ) is coming and may have to present it to himself.

until the next scoop....... vino sipping poster.... Merlot

Another great show Sugar. Interesting statistic you raised concerning West Bentleigh. 13 of their last 20 wickets have fallen to spinners. There could be a few teams searching their lower grades for a spinner or two..The judge looked like he was quite annoyed when discussing the Elwood match.Good to see.I suspect that he may be setting himself for a big game this week.:D
