Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

The Spiders had the factions at the Hoops on the ropes at 8/87.Once again the veteran, Gerdan lifted them to 8/174, which will be enough against the brittle Spiders batting line up.Interesting season for the feisty veteran. His beloved Tigers are in a rebuilding phase after five years of Wallace hype, and one wonders where the Hoops would be this season without his contribution; 322 runs @ at an average of 80.5.Quite surprising that the injured fast bowler Veitch was scratching around in the seconds when he from all reports was desperate for a rest. With a week to recuperate he could have been very useful in week 2. The Spiders are far from being safe from the big drop and a win here will ensure they survive another year. They will never get a better chance.

The Juggernaut had a slight hiccup and now have the work ahead of them.A win to West Bentleigh could make it an interesting finals series. The Ommies have lost all momentum and possibly feeling the pressure of playing the equivalent of a finals game each week. The Beach Boys live to fight another week, but will have a big assignment against the rampaging Machine in the final match.

The Machine have a difficult decision, whether to bat on, or try for that difficult outright.A 10 point result for the machine and a favor from West Bentleigh could mean that a home final against the Juggernaut beckons, assuming the executive does not change its policy again. A lot to ponder. It seems the wheels have well and truly fallen off at King George.

Kingston Heath made a respectable 5/242 (much to the relief of their bowlers) which will give them a chance to defend.Leroy led from the front and it had the desired effect. This one will go down to the wire, and if the golfers manage to get up, then stage is set for a nail biting last round at the top of the ladder and at the bottom.

Bentleigh Uniting had a day out and will ensure that Washups have to pull something out something special this week or face the prospect of receiving updates next week at their fate. Facing the rampaging Juggernaut away, will not be the most appealing prospect.

ANA's finals aspirations took a pummeling after the movie star and his young team pummeled the ANA attack to the tune of 7/333, whilst Bottsy was enjoying a number of wines at a retreat. Hopefully a few of the ANA veterans will pull out something special and make a game out of it.Unbelievably, ANA are still a chance of making the finals with some results going their way, and no doubt they will be carefully monitoring proceedings at Asp-Edi.

The Ommies are in a good position against Asp-Edi and have the runs on the board. The combine are another team which has struggled chasing these type of scores so it will go down to the wire.If the combine get up they open up the finals race.If the Ommies win, then they eliminate a few contenders who have been harassing them for a finals spot.

Hampton United finally managed to pass 200.The abacus would have been out when totaling the score as they have not reached those sort of numbers for quite some time. The Juggernaut have struggled chasing scores all year so this one will be interesting.

Bentleigh Uniting got the job done against Brighton Centrals, and guess what, if they manage to pull off an outright then they are back in the finals hunt.My pre season fancy for the flag are now finding their form.Is it too late?

The faction afflicted Hoops just folded and seemingly lost interest after the 'Real Deal' opening bowlers tore through their top order. Another wasted season.Let the blood letting and branch stacking commence. The 'Real Deal' just continue to march on.You would have got 66/1 or better on the Real Deal finishing in the top 2 before the season.

Hampton Central got the job done and posted a very healthy 8/259 against a game Highett West. Which Kooka's batting team will show up next week? If it is the one that is happy to count the bye and no balls, then it will be a short day for all concerned. The Centrals should win, but the Kooka's have the talent to chase down that score.Let's hope they make a match of it.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Evening All,

Quite a warm day and a question for my learned BCF colleagues.

If you don't get the Sunday papers or listen to Jimmy's radio show and get the pathetic Monday papers how would you ever know the scores?

Botty's looking at some of your tips you obviously picked them before Saturday.
Merl is a man of great trust just when you assured me that the oasis bott was staying put, I believed you!!I can just see the ideal scenario a Longy & Bluff Road Cup Premiership with a Bott in each winning team.Bertie the bagman what are the odds.

Burger,

My good friend don't give up so easily and what has Vorbs got to do with it.I recall him as a young lad and knew his late father but haven't seen or heard from the youngster in many moons. Is he still President of ANA?

A woman on the over heated metro tram today told me that you may have been a victim of the BCF's very own left arm slider machine Uncle Mick who was able to snap you up without troubling the scorers!!!Tell me this isn't true as I haven't been able to verify it yet on my cricket. Was it just the case of the best from the west producing the ball of the century?

Clock,

Your usual high class post mortem which would not be out of place at the top of the town. When the millionaires get up this week you will have to drop the J word and start calling them the jellies!!

Vinnie,

Fill us in on how you will refill the gas bottle as the carrier pigeon is still flapping his wings on the return journey from the RSL.

Arch,

That boss of yours must have you tied to the desk as your posts have been few and far between.

How's the baching going and when are the wife and two daughters due back from the Hunter Valley. No doubt she will bring you home a couple of bottles of their finest!!!Might even catch you on the boundary line in our usual spot this week?

Jimmy

Haven't had much out of you lately and have missed your excellent radio program due to interstate and other committments. You and I have completely different ideas about clocker as we seem to be poles apart.I don't really care whos who in the zoo although I believe there are many out there who would like to have Merl caged in a Zoo it's just a bit of fun when we unmask a few like one of the jammos, who still want to hide even when we have exposed them butt naked!!

Speaking of which Saul and Jammo give your loyal BCF members a run down on the pathetic performance with only one of Archie's sponsored arrivals getting any runs!!

until next time................... vino sipping poster....... Prof Merlot

Army,
Can you enlighten us as to what supplement Mr Hesketh took before his innings of 222? There are a number of broken down hacks on this forum that would greatly benefit from the information.Must have been some innings! Good of them not to give you a chance to come in for a quick 40*.;)

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

MyCricket: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association

Prof Merl, Scores received as at 11.00am Sunday are posted under Longmuir Report on MJFW.

Clockers eloquence fails to mask the fact that he is a salt of the earth character.

Not sure if you are trying to throw peeople off the scent with your Archie "free information giveaway", 2 daughters or three sons??

Here's the half Burger Bourbon, West to prevail at little Vic, if no big McConchie ton this week no LPP, no 10 points for Machine, the 6 planets might line up for Redbacks, Woods to run home in the run home.
P&G's to have a win, AERSL to chase down 196 although they have buckled in situ's like this in the past, other BRC games pick themselves.

Bucks, he had a pretty bad on field rep a few years ago.......might be paying for past indescretions?? I always found him an alright and quite amusing opponent.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Given the fact all 4 of our wins this season have come chasing big scores, I can only assume this means we pick ourselves, Bunt?

I don't like AERSL's chances without their skipper.

As for Bucks - Webbe is a mouth. He'd know it himself. No harm in what he does though. The game needs its characters.

Clock,

No supplements that I'm aware of (maybe a few amber ales the night before??). The fact of the matter is in my opinion he is in the top 5 bats in Quiney, unfortunately for us his form this year (prior to this round) wouldn’t justify that statement. A few starts but nothing sizeable, he does have a history of getting big scores when he gets in though, he has only played about 5 years of organised cricket and boasts 3 scores of 150+. Hopefully he has hit form at the right time!

Jimmy, I’m sure he will appreciate that you gave his 222 to Ads in your Longy Report… hehehe :)

Don't believe everything you read hey Army!!! Your scores were not in so I scoured the web and put it in the memory bank but as age wearies me it has obviously let me down. Pass on my aplos and shall expect a nice Xmas card from Ads next year!!!

Unc, you're 5/1 mate

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

I was being facetious, but I like those odds. Put me down for a ton and I'll collect next time I'm in the studio.

I just couldn't help myself, Webbe wouldn't last 1 game in Longy if the bbq mob got serious.
Good luck though for lasting this long.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Evening All on this warm Balmy evening,

Jimmy

I know I can get the scores from you and the MJFWS all I was doing was to point out for those few without a computer or computer access, if you didn't get the Sunday papers don't bother getting the Monday papers as while a few of the other Associations are in Barrack's tribe don't rate a mention.

Like our opinions of who Clocker is , you and I are poles apart on my good drinking buddy Archie who I have stated is not who you all think he is!!!

Nice touch with the half Burger Bourbon and some good pontifications!!!!

Like Uncle Mick my good BCF friend I also fancy those 5 to 1 odds.Your not Bertie the Bagman are you?How do I get on?

Bucks,Webbe and any others who may wish to listen,

Webbe did as much talking with his mouth as he did with the ball.Just like the Gold Park mob he is a very talented cricketer and if he and they let their ability do the talking instead of the north and south, Barrack's little competition would be all the better for it!!

Speaking of Barrack did he manage to count the 6 balls correctly this week,
and how did the former Gold Cap who has been struck down with injury, go in his Aqua Blue debut?

I believe an APB has been issued for the GK who at last reports had been despatched to get another shipment of corks for the pop gun.Just where is his player meandering around at the moment??

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Keep up the good work Merlot its good to get an insite on whats going on around other clubs and the characters who play the game. i find Steve Worker and Burger interesting characters i'll look forward to the battle in the finals if we can hold on to our spot. i'll take the 5-1 odds on highett west to win this week.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

I thought it would be worth providing an honest assessment on ANA's terrible batting performance on the weekend, not to mention Mackie's chances come finals time...

Embarassing day for our boys against Mackie at the Oasis... wonderful ground to play on I must say. It's a shame we didn't want to be out there long enough with the bat. The pitch definitely gives a lot more to the bowlers who are prepared to put it in the right spots, and can see why Craig Park gets so many wickets there. Despite being a big bloke, he bowls within himself, and works on his cutters which go both ways, and with a very responsive pitch to these deliveries, batsmen need to be disciplined and patient. Our youngsters certainly weren't that and that's why it was a terrible result on the weekend. Colm Kinsella bowled with a good tail wind to collect the spoils as well. He compliments the attack with his extra pace. More to be learned this Saturday.

The way our form has been in recent weeks, I can understand why the competition will be keeping a close eye on us v Kingston Heath in Round 11 as it could very well have an effect on who gets relegated.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Not wanting to tread on the toes of our fine statistician, but since the new pitch has been laid all Longmuir clubs except Carnegie South will have played there in the first 2 seasons. Of those clubs, only 4 have batted out their overs and none of these sides have lost the game. Not a lot of science to it I would've thought.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Thanks Jimmy Olsen for your description of my batting as whirlwind on Saturday. It was so ' whirlwind ' that after 5 overs we were 0/0!
