Uncle Mick, this bowler you have added to your line up has alot of pressure to perform, we will see what he has got this week. It would be pretty embarrising to lose after looking at the draw and thinking one bowler is going to make a difference, we will have to wait and see.

Again with the ignorance and naivety. Bucks my young padawan, you have much to learn. There is no pressure on any one particular player. We've got 6 bowlers whom I believe are all capable of 20+ wicket seasons. 4 of them have done it in the past 2 seasons alone. 1 other is an 18 yr old & the other has done it twice before, but hasn't been playing much cricket until the past couple of seasons. It'll take 11 of us to get the job done, but the onus is on the bowling to get it right with only 149 on the board.

No offence Mick, but you're reminding me of the Western Bulldogs king spindoctor James Fantasia.

Each to their own, Adam. There's no need to spin doctor here. We've proven we're capable in the past, and I believe we have reason to be confident on the weekend. Not an ideal total to defend, but defendable all the same.

Must also be said that Merl's new favourites appear to be going under the radar somewhat. I was only there for the first hour on Saturday, but the boys were pretty impressed with the Cluden attack. As has been evidenced by their performances to date it's arguably the best attack in Woolnough Shield - definitely seems to have a variety of capable bowlers.

I've said a couple of times now, champ. I think we will defend this small total. As for me, I've been missing with the bat all year.

Just a little bit after peter peter here, and expecting a penalty of sorts, perhaps various penalties

UM, that would have to be the two most outrageous tips i have ever seen (HW making finals and HW having the runs on the board against the Klansmen)and you should expect nothing less than to cop a few cheap shots from anyone and everyone. But alas, you do as you do best and climb the pedestal once again and attempt to show your supposed ultra-high intelligence.

Three things,

1) Your west mob wont be playing in March so book your vacation early.
2) The Klansmen will get the runs no more than 4 down.
3) Your a cumb dunt, one of the biggest cumb dunts i have come across.

Happy scrunching, happy folding, merry christmas and a safe and happy new year to all at the BCF !!

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

There's not much of a pedestal to climb among the likes of yourself, shags. I haven't said we will play finals. I said if we were to it would be somewhat of an effort given our run to the finals. It's comments like yours that make it quite easy to be perceived with an ultra-high intelligence. Nothing but a weak cat who takes pot shots without the nuts to put a name to them. Man up you piss ant.

I'll happily take your bet of no more than 4 down as well.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

going to be an interesting clash between you 2 today UM, think there might be a bit of banter to be had..

I am looking fwd to the forum following the days play, think either way someone will be in for an ear bashing..!!!-???

some big results today to shape finals before the break, none bigger than ours.. hopefully we can get the job done, as the old saying goes the ball is in our court..

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

and the choclates go to......... the klansmen

think UM might leave the laptop at work this holiday season and i dont blame him. unfortunately HW are/were kidding noone, have played 1 of the top 4 sides and are still sitting in the bottom quarter.

good to see central come through with the win just and that MW can be beaten,

look forward to a interesting second half of the season.

happy festive season.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Evening All,

A very interesting round of cricket with the finals wide open and our first bakers dozen in the BTC.

The Merlot Full Bottle as follows:

Slim and the boys got the job done over the inconsistent and disappointing ANA.The Highway pretenders fell in a heap to again give up the Gorozidis and the other blokes trophy and potentially a finals birth.

Merl's supported golf club overcame a bogey start to the season where they extracted themselves from a deep bunker thanks to iron gloves and son and a great 7 for from a young kid returning to longy after a spell in the twos, to leave the ants with nothing.

one of Merl's other favourites the Beach Boys were on song in making old Wallet Park look like paupers even though it was a struggle in the end.Well done to Craig Naidu for showing sportsmanship is not dead by recalling a batsman after an aqua blue error!!

General B had the machine purring in a big win over the tipless Brudes mob who can be chocolates one week and boiled lollies the next week.

The millionaires despite not securing the services of the returning Stacey Brown were far to good for the inconsistent lakers who bombed out yet again.Look out for the millionaires they are coming hard and fast and will play a big part of the action in March!!!

In the real Bluff Road Cup match of the season Merl was priveledged to see our very own Burger Bourbon led the two blues to a win over local rival Moorabbin West in a very tight game that went down to the wire, and therefore secure the Guy/Shaw trophy for 12 months.

Genuine premiership chance Merl's very own ( why don't I tip them ) Cluden struggled to get over Uncle Mick's mob in a tight game.If I believe what I hear on Jimmy's radio show a few dropped catches didn't help the cause and it will now be difficult but not impossible for the Kookas to see the March action.

Also in supporting one of the BCF best contributors ( who I know can look after himself ) I am disgusting with a couple of cheap shots and disguised profanities directed to Uncle Mick and would hope that these people would move on elsewhere. The BCF is a forum for views and comments not what we have seen lately. It smacks of the good old Aussie tradition to shoot down the tall poppy.Keep up the good work Uncle Mick the BCF needs you!!

Back to the bottle, with the RSL having a regulation win over the hapless Dog Park mob, while the Highway boys are starting to strut their stuff with an impressive team giving the Jelly twos an O for 7 start to the season and could we dare say staring relegation in the face?

The Manakis P Lakers mob did what all sides are expected to do and gave the Purple and Golds a hiding, while Captain Cal Wilkinson led the good ship Omega back on track with a tight win over ANA and I am pretty sure my cricket will show Cruwys getting more wickets than runs, while I think our very own Vinnie whose PM I look forward to was out in the heat of battle helping to secure the win and claim our very first 12 point winning tips for a round, well down Vinnie.

BTC

As mentioned Vinnie scored 12 points on the back of his beloved 2 Omega sides winning while Sugar scored 10 but would have had 12 if his 2 inconsistent ANA sides had saluted.Being the humble unassuming type that I am my 10 points has propelled me into outright 3rd place and chasing the self aclaimed beer drinker who is danger of penalty points if he does not give us a full account of his return to the crease in graphic detail. Our former leader has slipped down the slippery dip and shares equal 4th spot with Sugar as we turn for home in the exciting BTC.Adding to his slip the failure to tip in the big BRC game gave him no points for that game!!!

Cheers Keithy.

I'll make this the last time I repeat myself and quote the post just to make it clear for those who seem to be confused.
"Certainly not getting ahead of myself or making any bold prediction, but seeing our run home now....".
I'm well aware I shoot my mouth off at times and am all for the banter that comes my way when I make an outlandish statement. In fact, the past 2 seasons have probably been my most enjoyable due to the fact that while I'm out in the middle I get heckled quite fiercely. I thoroughly enjoy the sh*t being flung. It makes the game far more entertaining and puts a bit more pressure on everyone who wants to shoot their mouths off as well. For example, the Cluden lads had a lot to say over the past couple of weeks and I would've let them know about it had we got up. But they got home in the end and to the victor go the spoils. Kudos to them. They outplayed us and deserved their win.

Post mortem for Prof. Merlot.
We started the match knowing one of our bats & one of our bowlers was unavailable for much of week 1 and one of our bats was unavailable in week 2, so we were hoping they'd win the toss and decide for us how we'd approach it. As it happens Cluden won the toss and sent us in. At 1/41 we were happy with our start, but a Highett West collapse saw us 7/78. Our number 11 got 21n.o and still reckons we cost him his first ton, but we got up to 149 and we thought that might be enough. Not a lot has been said about the Cluden attack, but it's clear from their results just how potent it is. A couple of run outs and plenty of pressure in the field compliments the strength of their bowling.
Week 2 and with 1 sub-fielder already in this side our opening bowler and keeper became unavailable on Saturday morning. Disastrous start to what was already going to be a challenging day. The young Cluden bats played with a maturity beyond the years of most of them as they used up all the overs (I'm pretty sure they past us in the 63rd) to get the win. Josh Bennett bobbled one up to gully where we made an absolute meal of it. He was on 1 at the time and went on to make 40 after being dropped to an even easier catch not long before his dismissal. That was the match defining innings. Special mention has to go to our skipper who's having another solid season. His '5 for' was one of the best spells of bowling I've seen in Woolnough Shield for a very long time. With a little more support from the other end we might've got home (cue Quilton snipe here).

We're now in a position that will make it extremely hard to play finals, but I'm still confident we can shape them given that every side we play for the remainder of the season is a genuine finals contender.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

PM regarding ANA's loss to Omega.

ANA were very confident we could chase down Omega's 202, with perfect weather setting the scene. Out young bats were embarassing and played like millionaires and didn't respect Omega's combination of disciplined bowling and excellent fielding. It was known before the game that despite not having a 'threatening' attack, all bowlers had good consistent results this season so far, and unfortunately the boys weren't up to it, losing wickets consistently and succumbing to Omega's tactics. The key moment was Chris Clement bowling Adam Mikkelsen for 23 with a yorker that I believe was deliberate through a lot of practice duting the week. Kudos to the Ommies.

After last season, people may be surprised that they are 5-2, but it simply confirms that after taking on some risks in the last couple of years with kids, is now starting to pay off. With Omega's legacy of focussing on the one percenters over the years, blokes like Tim Malane, Leon McGaw & co can pass this trait of Omega's on to their younger blokes like Bychkov & Beckett etc. They are a very good club.

As for ANA, we will need to start focussing on 'shaping' the finals mix and try to win all four remaining games with the aim of building great momentum into next season. We imagine that with names like Lovell, White, Jansz, Gebert, Lawford, Morrison & Dolman all 23 or under, they will be much more resilient and better cricketers then, than what they were only 3 months ago.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Riddle me this CMCA experts.
If the Wash-ups were to end up on the bottom of the ladder in Longmuir, and their C Grade were to win the flag in that grade, would that automatically preclude them from being relegated from Longy???? What is to stop the brains trust at the Wash Ups to simply stack their team for the remainder of the season to achieve this goal? Will Moorabbin West,Hampton Centrals or the 'Real Deal' get the short end of the stick??? Have the Weststars hit the wall? Will Uncle Mick conjure up something special for next year and end up having the last laugh against the 'Real Deal' possibly in the finals? Can the Hoops overcome their fear of chasing large numbers (Arithmophobia)???? Will the Mackie boys become Budhists over XMAS? Will the Ommies have wiped away the tears of their success long enough to focus on the remainder of the season? Will Sugar step aside for one game to try and get the average age of the ANA 'Young Ones' team to under 20????? Will the ACCC rule that West Bentleigh are guilty of uncompetitive behaviour since they are now unbeatable??? Any chance of Jimmy Olson working for more than 4 weeks before taking some more leave???? All these questions and more will be answered in the New Year. Same CMCA time...Same CMCA forum... Merry Xmas to all......:D
