Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Adam,

One of my impeccable sources advises there may have been less than 100 at the function!, similiar to a Go Dees vs Freemantle match.

Food was ordinary but did the sky blues behave? Was there any flying couch action.

I heard condeleeza was very emotional in acceping the Merlot predicted executive yet again nominated President's award!

Been very little movement at the station once again with all the cricketers turning into winter Hibernation bears.

Uncle Mick were you protecting DBM from the clutches of opposition clubs.

Clocker how is the other 6 project progressing that you were given over the Easter break!

Without upsetting 'the child ' is it any surprise that Barrack had nothing to do with the big night!

Any news on any surprise Longy applications as Old Merl has been a bit out of the loop recently and some how missed his personal Presentation night invite!

Haven't spotted the fiscal one or the dog lately, don't know if the child got the VCA job!So many questions and not the usual answers.

Will the Go Dees consign Wallace to the coaching scrap heap tomorrow and the Burger bourbon Hawks are slower out of the blocks than B is between wickets.

Tim Malane 'executive personality' would not have a lot of competition with most of those duds the child says are doing okay.

Archie ( mmmmmmm ) my alledged bosom buddy what's going on down your way anything to report?

Until the next slow news day..................................Merlot

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Very good summation of the night, Sugar. What a snoozefest that speaker turned out to be. And to be fair to Cracker, he was hassled at the last minute to get there so he could accept the Harry Morgan presentation and didn't have time to get a decent kit on. Certainly wasn't keen on the idea of being there in his 'chosen' attire.

I think the comment about DBM were very tongue in cheek, Merlot.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

hey uncle you any chance of going back to east sandy, i've heard a few rumors they are losing a few but gaining a new top shelf coach, you might get another longy premiership medal.
on that topic of premiership's, will mackie, union and wests pick up any one to take them to the top, not sure elwood will-they'll have to rely on the 3 guns again...

heard from a little birdy that the cmca's favorite pain in the ass brett will be making a come back as long they get a new coach, heard he hates him...

hey merlot, is there any chance of you giving a run down of your career, not mentioning your club(which we know you won't), just want to know games, wickets runs etc........sounds to me you know your cricket, but could you play....

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

No chance. Especially if the pest is back playing Longmuir Shield.

Rumours of losing personnel will be the same as every year. Speculation over whether Pitty will retire or not. Hard to see him doing it. Biggie Phelan might be your best bet. He's seriously considering giving it away full time so we could see him making a plethora of runs in one of the lower grades.

Gday boys,
Its Archie, and i've been away in England for a while looking for some recruits for next season.
Hey BMF, just a couple of comments regarding your questions.
The yellow caps are always looking for a ''top shelf coach'' but never seem to hook the big one, they will be alright once again unless the serious contenders pick up some players.
This brings me to the boys from the beach, word out is that they have got some cabbage and are prepared to throw it at the junior champ, not too sure whether he'll bite, he's still very much weighing up the options at point nepean.
The cmca's favourite is just spruiking with himself, he'll be staying where he is for now.
From the little that i know of Merlot, he was involved in probably 25 to 30 wickets per season on average, and at a guess, probably 300 runs a season.
As good as it gets over the period of time, very consistant performer.
There should be some more movements regarding the goss in a couple of weeks, stay in touch.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Greetings one and all after a brief absence with some sub continential financial dealings distracting me from a rather quiet BCF but with the 30 th April longmuir deadline missed by a couple of clubs it will be interesting to see what Barrack and the Congress come up with?

Big Mossy Fan we are poles apart as I was never a fan of the 8 burner BBQ model who did his best work at the bar after the game and always showed a relutance to report tokeep his ratings high.

I am thinking of starting a competition ' Who is Merlot' as word keeps filtering back to me that there are many including 'the child ' wanting to know the identity of the mysterious one.Uncle Mick had a couple of stabs with no cigar.

Some think Archie Roach and I are bosom buddies while all the gold caps are pretty easy to pick although rumour has it that a large rear proportioned multi premiership player may plaster a bit on the BCF.

BMF my stats are not that important and are a bit dated now and I wouldn't want to upset my good friend Uncle Mick by comparing players of my era and you baby boomers ,gen y & X types.Let's just say Merlot was a solid all rounder who could even don the gloves in emergencies and when playing down the grades he even did a bit of BBQ ing as is the case with the lack of them and the lack of quality in them. Not being a big BBQ fan it was a task I did begrudging rather than expose young kids to some of you forum types out in the middle.

Merlot will remain a mystery because that's how I like it, and you lot out there in Big Cricket Land can try and work out who I might be.It maybe easier picking the Gold Logie winner as unlike Hazel and Gretel I don't leave any tracks.

Those of you listeners to SEN and beer oclock may have heard Tony Schebecki praising a nice Merlot from the land of the sheep enjoyers but I will stick to the Aussie stuff.

Adam still awaiting our tet a tet in the Long room while watching the Go Dees!

Clocker any update on the forgotten six but does anyone really care.

Burger how are the burbons and a bit of a quiet one for the striking one Buddy Big head! How are the Black Rock boys travelling?

Until next time and a finish to the quiet time Merlot

PS is the child really coming back?

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Mr Merl,

I think I have a fairly good idea who you might be, it does puzzle me I must say!!
I've narrowed it down to a few, from some inside mail I picked up at the local footy a few weeks ago..

Rockers 2-1, played ok in patches yest & got over the line..Loca derby this week vs Highett

First home game this weekend, come on down for a look.. you a local footy watcher- bentleigh I hear is yr local??

I might start another of my now famous (burger bourbon's) books-

Who is the hiding Merlot??

10-1 the field.....

John Bacon
John Park
Cedric Jansz
Tim Malane
Humphrey B. Bear
Neil Vorbach
David Hampton
Danny Frew
Rohan Schreier

100-1 Kim Pitt, Adrian Fisher

well well cheese burger,
good to see your back and about, the fact the hawks aren't winning hopefully hasn't shut the burger man up.
its not that big of an issue who merlot is, all i know is that he didnt mention any flags so that counts out a few club?????
is omega sticking with the same coach???they could do with a top line bowler if last years coach could poach some hampton players, they'd be handy.
archie will the golden greek get the flag he his after, where is his best chance to get it, there are certantily some probs at bucc, maybe he could help west bent step over the line......
spoke to a hamptoncentral player he said that they are looking to back up in longy next year, mays will smash woolnough, i'm tippin that lepage will be back down next year...and east will find the challenge harder than ever, every team will pick up to stop their run..

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Another random poster Mossy Fan... they should call this site random posters anonymous!
Much prefer to know i'm talking to, makes for better conversation

Hawks not winning spare me, another 2 prem defenders back this week, another 3 in a few weeks.. just building the pyramid, an old saying- you dont win flags in April!! should get to the mid year break 7-4 & hit full steam just after in rd-14/15.

already got my dbls at big odds, looking ok..
Sewell Brownlow in to hawks flag 400-1 (to win 10k)
Ablett- Hawks 50-1
Judd - Hawks 70-1

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

BMF,

I didn't know you wanted Premiership stats of which there have been several.
Again not important to serialise them as they are all wonderfull memories and not a foreign legion in sight.Still in regular contact with my multiple premiership team mates , and enjoy an Aussie Merlot at the reunions!

Burger not even warm and just as an example would I bag the Gold Caps so much if I was Kim Pitt? I think the bourbons have gone to your head?

As always until next time .............Merlot

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

It's amazing how some people are over-obsessed with who posters are on this site. I couldn't care less to be honest. The same names bob up with their opinions, so we get the gist of who the online people are, whether they tie in with their real life persona or not is not too much of an issue.

Shows how little CMCA 'experts' know of the competition's personalities when they think that Merlot could possibly be of all people CEDRIC JANSZ??

BMF, I doubt Maysie won't get any phone calls in the winter when his incumbent team is guaranteed Woolnough next year. The man is known to move when the right offer is in place. Hampton Central may have very well submitted their Longmuir Shield application in time before the deadline, unlike some serial offenders, however breaching this 'deadline' by the CMCA has never enforced penalty.

Seeing as the door has been opened to bore people on this site with footy speak, I'll follow the lead. Merlot, I look forward to sharing a red in the Long Room in the not too distant future... maybe when Jesus Watts appears in the red and blue. Saturday's match winning left foor banana on the boundary line for Casey was a sight to behold.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Anyone out there that may be, or may know of anyone relocating during the off season down to the western district and are looking for a game of cricket please post your interest and we will swap details

Con won't win a flag at union while the elitism of the older heads hang around the club. There is always too much talk of how good they were and the reasons they won flags. Union have a very good team at the moment and there needs to be more talk of the future than the past. Their centenary year was a perfect example.

There is a good reason why East sandy are so successful. They tend to talk more about how good the next upcoming junior is (Cracker, Corpy, Manders to name a few) and look for new ways to strengthen their team. They can be unbearable to listen to most of the time but I suppose records speak for themselves.

Turn it up, Sugar. I only know Cedric as a cagey old timer with a bit to say on the field and a reasonable chap off it. Hardly think anyone is out there chasing the title as an expert on CMCA and it's characters.

I would be extremely surprised to see Maysie leave Centrals. The folk down there have looked after him very well finding him suitable employment and the like. Has seemingly slotted in well with the personnel down there too.
Have to agree with BMF. Maysie will tear the 2nd grade apart. Seems almost unfair to have someone of his ability playing in Woolnough. We can only hope he breaks down again to even things up for the batting teams.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

what would the best 20-20 side the cmca could put up?
i'd say the team would be alot diff to the cmca team of the year.
the exec's should look into playing a pre seaon opener against another comp, seeing no one wants to play sunday games for the comp anymore. i'm sure blokes would play a 20-20 game.

my team would have no slow unfit blokes, so buddha, milane???(is he fit now), biggy, big al gerdan, stu campbell, you guys wouldnt fit in.. burger might scrape it in after a solid pre season.

i just think it would be a great idea to get it up and running.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Burger Bourbons

Don't know where you are your mail comes from but I am more a local cricket fan than a local footy fan.I much prefer the comforts of the Long room with Adam watching the Go Dees try to win a game.I could be tempted down to the Presidential box at Black Rock after the renovations are completed.Just pop an invitation in the email to merlot@hotmail.com

I might hear you on SEN with your muppet line as used by schwarter reguarly.

You could be close with Humphrey B Bear but I did hear that he has been sold to American interests so the trouserless one may be departing the shores of OZ.

Why would a gentleman like Cedric be a clown like me!!!

BMF,

Surely it is contradictory to be a BMF and then not wanting to select the CMCA heavy weights in your team! You could have a team of heavy weights with the 8 burner BBQ behind the stumps.

Did hear a little whisper that Barrack had a meeting with a couple of BBQ's recently to tie up a few loose ends! Also Condeleeza is supposed to be moving out of the area and who knows who will be in charge of not updating the website with his departure.

There have been unconfirmed reports that not all clubs submitted longy applications, and there could be a couple of surprise Woolly noms!!!

As always until next time Merlot.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Don't know weather this may interest people i played against a bloke in the DDCA thie year a bloke i grew up and knew since we were kids.
He is a superstar in the DDCA at 25 years of age, he played for Mordialloc and is a super quick bowler i am talking Scheliger at his best quick, he also has made over 500 runs each season in the last 2 years @ some where near 50 and it's been reported his club Mordi pays him 8-10K and he won them the flag last year.

I have heard he has been snapped up by a Moorabbin club (i believe in the CMCA) for 20K, he could not refuse that much after been offered 12K prev and has decided to leave his club were his family is at Mordi to this Moorabbin club.

Can anyone confirm this to there club or another CMCA club, this guy is a star and will probably be the best player in the CMCA i have never seen an all rounder like him oh yeh his name is TRAVIS CAMPBELL.

seen him play, not as quick as you suggest brett!!!
gets help of good bowling turf decks, smart bowler, he won't get the same help off the lifeless cmca decks..
the cmca has had players come in and people have had huge raps on them and they haven't delivered,, ie liam pickering, mat merifeild,
any way brett, you dont seem sure it is in the cmca, he should stay with turf if thats is his preference. good turf cricketers dont make good cmca cricketers......

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Spoke to a member of the exec yesterday and he seems to think that longy won't change again this year. Discussions have been held and they have suggested that Kingston Heath wont cone up because 4 players are over 35 and the rest are under 18. Shouldn't matter if you ask me, you win wooly you come up, you finish on the bottom you go down. Centrals might be saved again.
