Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Leroy i understand 100% were you are coming from, But i have to agree with Sugar.
I didn't know anything about this matter & probably overlooked the origional post on the matter for the reasons you said, but now that you have brought it up again i am found to be wanting to know more on the topic.

But against better judgement it has nothing to do with me, & i think we should turn this topic back onto proper Cricket Matters.

QUESTION 1

After another dominate year by ESBC who can be the clubs to potentilly knock them off next year & these clubs what do they need to add to there mix to do so.

IE. Elwood- perhaps an all rounder who can share the load with the bat & contribute with the ball. Maybe a Craig Park like player (not that Craig is going anywhere)

QUESTION 2

If you are the Heath what would be there realistic exspectation for next season & maybe UM is better suited to remark on there day what are they capable off.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Well, well.... 132 posts later and Mr.Ernst is finally starting to make a worthwhile contribution. Looks like you've done an exemplary job and led the way with the bat. Why you persisted with bowling is still a little bemusing. I would think it to make sense of sticking around and bearing the fruits of these seeds you've planted.

Probably not a bad call about a Craig Park type, but let's not forget Baby Bunting's year. Was probably the pick of the all-rounders this year. They need some stability beyond Harris, Bunting & Ano in the batting and their bowling stocks were found wanting at times. Wests are a legitimate contender. Chop has an x-factor and the Panther can turn a game in a matter of a few overs with both bat & ball. Deano seems to have developed and holds his own nowadays. The brothers Holmes are more than capable as is Casey & Frew has proven himself over the journey. Being the only side to topple the juggernaut last season was indicative of what they can achieve if they get it all right on the day.
Fact is though, East Sandy don't have a weak link. They've got matchwinners all the way through.

As for the Heath, without any recruiting I would think they'd back themselves to follow a similar path to Le Page & Carnegie South. Where the similarities end is their's is a much younger side than the aforementioned at the time they've gained promotion. So, they may get bullied a bit and find the going tough, but with so many kids coming through I think they'll be a lot better for it in the long run.

Leroy - I'd have to agree with Sugar's sentiments bud. More than anything, don't get sucked in by this unruly mob. It's all about piss & giggle on here.

Merlot - the kid in question is the son of the former gold cap who was cited by the bbq mob and subsequently suspended from any playing duties in the Heath's assault on the Woolnough Shield title.

Thank you all for your friendly advice. It will be noted and taken on board.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Golf,

If you are a West Indian loosen up man, or you will hook and slice your way through this forum.Listen to that wise owl UM.

Just remember it's a forum anything goes within the rules!

I got plenty of clues and enjoy a bit of a spar and chat with the forumsters with a variety of different opinions!

Brett,

Thought I would post early before you fall asleep after your mid night post last night.

I will shoot you down as expected and deal with Um later.

You once again trott out the tired old party line, get some cricket balls!Do you really think the big cricket forum is about cricket , when it is just a vehicle for rumour and innuendo and having a bit of fun don't get too serious you might believe half the rubbish I write if you got to read the other 4/5ths.

Iron gloves kid is a good topical issue that has opened up the chat lines.

Uncle Mick,

The voice of reason again setting a few straight but you make me laugh labelling Brett making a worthwhile contribution when just trotts out the normal Barrack propaganda yet again.

Thanks for pointing out that it was iron gloves kid but Old Merlot did a bit of research last night to try and find out himself was due to respond tonight but you beat me to the punch.

I started with Barrack's ineffective website thinking I would find what I wanted but no cigar,I clicked on scores no cigar,I clicked on junior scores no cigar , then I had a brain wave I clicked on Kingston Heath website, looked in the F grade scores and it hit me like a beacon!!! , the mouth was iron gloves kid that no one wanted to name for some unknown reason until you produced the goods as usual.

The Hooker or slicer from the golf club can defend him to the hilt but it is inbred and ingrained!

When we start taking this forum seriously Ceasar will cross the Nile again and Barrack & Co will actually do something good for the competition and it's constitutients.

Golf I hope you hit them long and straight tomorrow and I hope the rains haven't dampened things too much and if you can't stand the heat get out of the Big Cricket Kitchen forum as I can assure you as no doubt iron gloves will also tell you, when you play with the big boys next year there will be plenty of heat and it won't all be from the Sun!

Is that enough clues for you!

Until next time ....................Merlot

Cab Sav. Please mate. Do you really think that anyone going up to the top grade wouldn't expect a hard time? We are well aware.
As for not standing the heat, I stood up for a player at my club. Something everyone has the right to do.
Thank you for your obvious insights into the world of Longmuir, I'm sure it'll be helpful to all at the Heath.

Golf

A very courteous reply you are getting into the Uncle Mick and Clocker school of eloquence.

Hope you hit them long and straight and the wind didn't get hold of your ball.

Heard a little whisper that there could be two up and two down ah la the VAFA?

Just a little tip to both you and all those other forumsters stop wasting space by replying to my post just hit post reply not quick reply!

As always on a quiet day and a day after the Go Dees went down to the mortal enemy in black and white..........Merlot

Don't get used to it Ernst. I still don't rate you as an individual, but can separate opinion from fact.

So many sleepless nights to come for me knowing you don't rate me.

In the market for Insomnia tablets because of UM.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Come on gentlemen, the last few posts have had no substance and become a tit for tat slanging match between a bottle of red and an ex-cmca player. I'll have to use a few sheets of my 2 ply to clean things up although I wouldn't waste any time, effort or sheets of 2 ply on the queer from Peterson St.

I have never seen so much senseless dribble in my life, kind of reminds me of what my rear does the morning after a very bad curry.

Good for bagging the crap out of people and clubs on here, but when someone decides to respond, he just freezes up and goes off crying to the administrators of this site to have posts removed.

Lagger, Dobber, Dog are some of the terms that come to mind.

Softer than butter on a 40 degree day.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

I guess this could classified as a slow cricket week... not surprising seeing as the season ended a few weeks ago.

It might perk up in the next few weeks following the CMCA Presentation Night, but other than that weeks like this are going to be expected during the off-season.

To amuse the die hards of this site, Merlot's cheeky cricket related comment to Brett offered minimal substance, however Brett's subsequent reply brought a new low to BigCricket content.

Hopefully people, such as Collingwood fans post match, lift their game!

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

On the topic of Presentation Night have there been (or are there being) letters sent out to those who have won awards? Going by the mycricket stats we've had a couple of award winners, yet we still haven't seen anything from the CMCA.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Speak to your club secretary Mick... emails were sent to them last week informing of their club's CMCA award winners.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Brett,

The gentleman that I am doesn't need to respond to your inaccurate reply apart from advising that I have sired a large tribe which have produced multiple grand children all of whom would last longer at the crease than you.

Quilton,

Strange name, even stranger comments which could see you join Ham & Cheese on the sidelines. You don't need to join us in the forum however if you do, please observe the required standards which maybe difficult from where you come from!

Adam,

A bit disappointing with the black & white riff raff belting us both on and off the field but you would have been oblivious to all that at Sorrento no doubt. Will there be a report on the trip and when will you and Tribunal Chairman Phil be producing the post season outstanding youtube show?

Uncle Mick,

You would have no doubt not been surprised that Condelezza or Hilary or whoever hasn't sent the invitations would you.Melot remembers the good old days ( I know you don't like me saying that ) when trophy winners were given a hand written personal invitation to the Galah oops Gala evening.I am not sure you would call it Gala these days!Congratulations to your winners ,were you among them with the left arm sliders?
I hope the sky blues behave themselves but if they get kicked out it is not too far to get to their own watering hole!

Hope you are still awake Brett as the short posts obviously play tricks with your mind!

Archie ( mmmmmmm ) cold enough for a Horlicks tonight unless you have packed the camper van and taken the family north somewhere?

Merlot - you're a lot better than to get into a tit for tat with a child. I thought you might've learnt from when I was foolish enough to get sucked in a while back.

As for Adam & your mob's post match incident on the weekend.... Isn't lovely to see the Collingwood faithful further enhance their standing in the football community? The term 'rabid dogs' comes to mind. And where was Eddie Everywhere on this one? Normally out on the front foot his head seems firmly stuck in the sand - either that or I've missed something.

Lastly, thanks for the heads up, Sugar. I'm pleased to say that 2 of our bats won the Woolnough awards. One in particular, has finally lived up to the weight of expectation I've been heaping on him since his return to HWCC as a senior cricketer. By my reckoning the most talented batsman in the 2nd grade.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Uncle Mick,

The voice of reason as usual, you would get a job on a Kevin Rudd aeroplane,or the United nations with your clear reasoning, and analitical skills.

It wasn't so much tit for tat as just letting the child ( as he will now be known as ) that old Merl has been around a few more decades than him.

Haven't heard from the doona maybe he went west or is that east with Ham & Cheese!!

Keep up the good work in this slow period for news.

Just a prediction the receipient of the Presidents Award will be a member of congress !!!

Until next time ..................... Merlot

PS Clocker don't forget a bit of Easter home work to quench the thirst of those eager to read your comprehensive thoughts on the other six!!!

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Wow, what a night last night.

All the big names were out and about at the CMCA's night of nights. As usual, ANA's table was positioned in the back corner/cheap seats, giving us plenty to look at and assess during the night. Kingston Heath were in celebratory mode, booking two tables of their own, which is a great effort. They mean business as next year's Longmuir Shield's apprentices. Not so 'celebratory' was one table being shared by 3 clubs, being Aspendale Editvale RSL, Southside East Caulfield, and Longmuir Shield's own Brighton Union.

The night started with Tim Malane who battled manfully as MC after being given only 24 hours notice after David Hampton pulled out, thus disappointing the audiene who were ready to extend the MC Hammer jokes well into the night. Light on when it comes to one liner gags, it was nonetheless a serviceable workmanlike performance from Tim, who would have to be considered the 'personality' of the CMCA Executive.

The food was of good standard by the Bentleigh Club... you would want it to be, at $50 per head for 2 courses... however it's all for a good cause as Merlot would agree, in supporting the fundraising of the Melbourne Football Club. Thanks to Jenni Ashkar & Guy Hulston for collecting the money and making sure the Demons weren't short changed.

Speaking about money, Phil Cox early in the night was very jovial early on, boasting about how he didn't have to do a thing in regards to organising the event, and that the sub-committee had everything under control. However his appearance quickly changed after viewing the entertainment hired by the sub-committee. I think everyone are still picking up their chins from the ground. A cricket historian, who seemed to resemble the NRL's David Gallop, who I'm sure was well versed and very informative in promoting his book on cricket, however his lack of ability to speak loud enough on the microphone, let alone ENTERTAIN was unfortunate. Even John Jones was wiping his hands from any responsibility. "Bring back Austin Powers" weas heard in some circles, however, it didn't stop some tragics bailing him up at the end of the night.

The highlight of the night (in that the audience responded) was Con Pothitos accepting his award on stage from Frank Robinson, who subsequently received thanks by being reminded of his requirement for 'meals on wheels' services. It was also interesting to see some award winners dress for the occasion as if they were about to play tennis. Speech of the night went to Hampton United's Mark Bell, who was quite comfortable in reminding everyone of how good he is... I need no reminding as he belted me for 26 in one over in round 9.

The Champion Club Award remains a two horse battle between Omega & Bentleigh Uniting, as both clubs have shared the spoils 14 times in the past 18 years. This time it was Uniting's turn as Friday night junior cricket continues to realise extra benefits.

The post formality obligation of networking was in full swing, with Con Pothitos receiving drinks from most other clubs, maintaining the off season mystery of who will snare him. However with the watchful eyes of Phil Arnold & Noel Pullen already on the pulse, it would be foolhardy to bet on him going anywhere. Interestingly enough, Big Cricket's own Uncle Mick was VERY protective of Devon Byrne-Murray's movements.

In the end, well done to the CMCA for trying. It's always a more entertaining night when you've had a few drinks under your belt.
