Come on big fella just cos your a GCA boy doesn't mean you have to jump to their defence every time someone challenges them. I think the game would be a cracker. Don't be so quick to jump on the back foot:D

Calnon has played for GCA in Country Week as first choice keeper twice, has over 100 Div 1 victims and averages over 30 with the bat inc 5 1st XI tons. In 98-99 he had 24 div 1 victims and made 331 runs. The old GCA Almanac; a valuable resource!!

Your a joke mate, you do know it's 2008/09 this season coming don't you? why not bring back Larry Greagan and Peter Mahon, might as well throw Damien Di Grandi in there, hey might as well even get W.G Grace in as the skipper.

Get with the times Renny, Calnon is an old has been hack, maybe your club should look at moving him on and even try a young blokes in your 1sts as a keeper?

im not supersaintjonny, just think that side would win easy.

looks a good side. we all should wait til round 3 and see how them sides would stack up on player form, then see if we would still pick the same side.

very very good side. my tip would be gca easily.
only doubt on that side would be calnon, surely there would be a better keeper/batsman in div2.

ps. GO AWAY bnichols

no benci for a.t this year apparently, and the best gloveman in div 2 is david kiss from alexander thomson, only issue is he's not sure if he bats left or right handed!!

say this did go ahead, make it a best of 3 series. where would you play them? one on hard wicket, one on turf and, if it went to it, a decider to be decided haha.
what's the best ground in the bpca? you'd probably play the turf one at east belmont maybe?

Maybe a 2 day game, 1 day game and a T20 game, I'd play the BPCA home games at Drysdale, super ground when in good nick and a great watching ground.

giving his body a rest is the rumour doing the rounds. he has got bad knees and looks to be pidgeon toes when i played him last year. not sure why he would need a rest, coxy only gets him to bowl 35 overs a week and bat at 4( they got 2 hits a shitload last year).

he's not a bad bat, just maybe use a bit of work to make it big. his keeping is already awesome, but yeah just work on the batting maybe a little more?
plays a nice cover drive but haha, not very attacking though

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

I hope this season that the Geelong Advertiser pull there finger out and give local cricket the coverage it deserves, I like to see a page each as a minimum like how they done the local footy this year, maybe a pull out section with coverage of VCA, GCA1,2&3 and The BPCA, also include the juniors results.

There's nothing worse than picking up Mondays paper and having two lines written about the best game of the round in each league.

I remember in the week leading up to the first game the Addy use to have league by league and have all the ins and outs of each side and a write up of who was the fav's and who would struggle also quotes from captains. What happen to this? We don't all want to read about GFC all year round:mad:

Whats people's thoughts on this?

I THINK I DESERVE MY OWN THREAD!

Imagine all the people logging on to read how the wonderful Murghie and the Jet are going.

Everyone on this forum love me, as no one else gives nothing......

A bunch of sooks that wait for someone else to stand up and say something and shoot him down. well my fellow forum wankers. This is your captain speaking.

It appears you may have a mutiny on your hands o' captain my captain.

The problem is there isn't as much interest in cricket as football. Cricket is always going to play the bridesmaid to football. Look at the herald sun, in cricket season, there is still a couple of pages each day devoted to footy. Football has more interest - more interest, more addy's sold - therefore, more resources invested in it. I think it would be a fantastic idea of a pullout section, but I don't think it will happen.
