will grovedale struggle with harper playing 2nds. they have got no one coming thru who can do the job with the new ball. maybe it mite be a short stint in the seconds for harper
Yeah i would have money on it that he plays in the 1s from rd1 you cant have the best bowler of the lasy 10yrs playing 2nds, i dont understand that.
if he's gunna be out there for 85 overs he might as well play in the 1sts, even if he only got 1 spell in him he's still guna do more damage than most.

after loosing one of there bowlers i have heard that he is going to play but will be interesting if he can get many overs out of his knees

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

Don't underestimate Mike Chapple at West as a huge pick-up. Heard he made 500 runs in VCA firsts for Hawthorn only 2 seasons ago.

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

As from what we have heard im going to have a stab at gca top 6 i know where months out and clearances havn't open yet i don't think but here we go anyway:

1st(premiers)- East Belmont, looking strong as ever unlucky to lose to sth barwon in last years semi's.

2nd- St Joeys- recruited well with picking up morgan and fanning should go close Loftus is a massive loss, think they'll cover somehow and have a big year.

3rd- Geelong West- also recruited well with mike chapple as said above and loftus too combined with glenn talarico will have no worries making and chasing big scores if there's any worry its in the bowling. i think they will cover that and be a really good side

4th- Leopold- have also recruited well and i think will improve on 5th last season and be a huge threat come finals time, with the pick ups of harvey stevenson as coach and glenn skrobalak as assistant, and as far as i've gatherd havn't lost any. Big threat!

5th- Lara- always there abouts can't leave them out strong alround game and always competetive and hard to beat at home.

6th- south barwon- also recruited well with jeremy babb and jarrod moore. im just not sure what jeremy babb does now? is it spin or medium pace? south missed a quality spinner last year maybe its the piece of the puzzle missing. as we know alot depends on brad haurnstein and he never fails to deliver great player and expect another big year, Also brett anderton is the X factor in gca for me if he fires you can move them up to maybe 1st or 2nd. premiership threat big time!

just outside i have grovedale only because harper won't be playing and that hurts them big time.
also there abouts will be city fighting for the last couple of finals spots with scott lindsay back don't be suprised if they have a good season.
bell post hill will struggle around mid table id say
newcomb & district well who knows whats going on there seem to be a rubble with peter harrison quiting as coach before he started during the week
newtown at least there trying to rebuild with youth, dont be suprised to see them back in the not too distant future
north geelong struggled last year and with gun bat mitch troy moving to north shore and ash mclean also rumoured to be heading back will struggle.

thats my early prediction feel free to have a crack and let me know if you think i've missed something:D

your obviously a grovedale supporter, south barwon tryed getting marsland well before grovedale tried, and he aint going staying at city loves scotty lindsay
and the bloke you forgot must be a real gun if u forgot him. get ready for life after harps gunna be alot harder.
If it wasn't for harper grovedale wouldn't of got close last year.

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

newcombe will stuggle this year n it will be good to see and it will shut there feral supporters up.

all you'll be doing is chasing him, he'll never leave. i know south barwon spoke to him a bit, think he just enjoys ppl talking about him, think thomson had a crack at him aswell.

both thought they had him, his never gonna leave city.

because i think they could win a flag just too many buts and what if's at the moment. i think there a good side, i wana c how babb and anderton go together i know they love hitting the drink together and this could be a problem.
