Re: Geelong Cricket Chat

Bends his back very well, i would think one of the quickest in Div 2 but also does a lot with the ball and is a consistent wicket taker. Importantly, can also bat and that's what they would be looking at.

hold on a second... yes i was there all day.... and marshall choked big time.. but fought bakk well and got the reverse outright comfortably.... but stilll.......ordinary deck.... how many better decks are u blokes gunna play on this year.. our boys busted our asses to get that deck that good for u blokes.. and u turn around and call it ordinary... geez you must be playing on an mcg kind of deck every week if thats the case

mate if ya played at marshall you would understand his statement, they have great decks all the time, ask any opposition who has batted on it this year. And for as long as i can remember, everybody has thought north shores decks were ordinary, i havnet played on north shores ground recently so i might be wrong, but traditionally a crap hole.

The match was at North Geelong on the Sunday, so not at North Shores ground which has been renovated with new summer grass. In regards to the deck being ordinary the day before North Geelong made over 200 for the loss of 6 wickets to win the game, so unless something happened to it overnight you would think it would be in okay condition. I would not blame the wicket for loosing this many wickets for a day when the previous day it appeared to be okay ?

And Marshall do play on the MCG each week, Marshall Cricket Ground to be correct !! I am not sure about Marshall having great decks all the time, but since Kingy has taken over they have improved greatly. It needs a good scarify over the square at XMAS and they will be even better after so that they loose the thatch in it. :)

Re: Geelong Cricket Chat

there was nothing wrong with the deck at all, what a rotten statement. we made 218 off 75 overs the day before. we had a fucntion on yesterday and we saw an appaling batting performance from both sides. not to mention one of the umpires gave some horrendous decisions. marshall lost 7-22 in there first innings batting like our 4s, and then north shore batted there 2nd innings like our 6s, and then marshall still nearly failed to chase 83. ordinary deck. pfffft.. i was with ash mclean after the game and he had no complaints whatsoever

Well said ants....
clearly this bloke is being a banana :p
Alf would of ton'd up if they batted on for the last 10 overs.. and like mclean sed.. stoopid shots and stoopid umpire decisions were the key factors in the game

have to agree with u there renny, very consistant performer with bat and ball but would have thought there would have been another fast bowler playing in div 1 to pick from (ando) that would definatly take the fast bowler name before he has, but saying that Illingworth does bat well which probably got him over the line. strange that he is still playing in div 2 and hasnt gone elsewhere to play as he is a walk up starter in any 1st side in gca

Who sits on the tribunal?
And for those, like myself, who don't venture down the Independant path, what was written in Friday's edition?
Also any chance A 4 Effort or Dinosaur M & B we could get Vbookie for matches suspended for wednesday night?

I wonder if Grant Dew still sits the tribunal, I remember when I was in there a few years ago he was the main man.

Babies Arm and South will be hoping not, might end up with life:D

And anyone can put up vbookie TR just start a new thread than click on add vbookie and go from there.;)

mate i didnt play this week but was at the game. your probably right im probably being a bit harsh on the state of the wicket but it was a 4th day pitch wasn't it? but the pitch didnt really wasn't at fault for any dismissals i spose.

on the other hand it seemed like the umpires had somewhere to be by 4.30 some of the decisions had everyone scratching there heads
