The MMVCA and NWCA merger again on the agenda, I can keep heaing whispears but nothing ever happend, this merger was first discuss a few years years ago, who stoping the merger, I know the NWCA are keen to get a turf up but have failed. Shall wait and see what happend to cricket in the area.

I think mixed messages have been going out to teams of both leagues.

As far as i know, the merger was never put to rest by the leagues, as they have only ever informally spoke about it.

It is up to the teams of both leagues as to wether a merge does or does not happen. I think the NWCA clubs have been alot more keener in the past and the MMVCA clubs not so taken with the idea.

What do you guys think about the possibilty of a merged comp?

i for one think it would be good, as they have a very strong junior base, and it would also bring all our juniors into the same comp as their senior teams.

In my opinion, a merged comp does have a lot of merit, and i think it makes perfect sense, as at the moment, in our club we have our juniors playing NWCA, and our seniors playing both NWCA and MMVCA.

It is not the ideal situation.

Re: mmvca

Yeah i think you are right about that MMVCA it would be good for the junior side of things but i dont think it would affect you guys that have a turf side but for us teams that play in matting grade it would be interesting to see how they do the gradings least it would make A mats a stronger grade because at the moment i play in A mats and there is not to many good cricketers out there

How does the MMVCA compare to the grades of VTCA
Eg Senior, Senior A, North A, North B

As a competition, compare it to North B.That is, the better sides would be ok in the higher grades but after top few teams, standard falls away dramatically.

Training well under way. Season only 4 weeks away. How are everyone's numbers?

numbers at our club have been very good for this time of year.

we have been avraging about 25 per session, with probably 20 regulars still to train, due mainly to footy finals.

so it looks like being a productive summer........hopefully:)

also, why is it these days that councils refuse to uncover hard wickets at the end of footy season???? as far as im aware, they will do it, as long as you cough something like $200!

what a rort. like they dont charge enough for grounds they dont even look after.

Re: mmvca

MMVCA,
council will do what ever they want and we have no choice but to give them money every year or risk playing on ground like merlo which would be classed at a cow paddock at best,

Also speaking to mates that play in the jika league rumour has it that Blast from the past is signed at Keon park and is coaching there under 13's side can anyone confirm that, i would hate to see sir shane not have a crack in a second rate comp as he calls it.

Half of that is true. I am coaching the 13's only because my son is playing their with his mates from the footy club and we are the reigning premiers in that grade. oh another flag. lol.
The other half is bull have not signed for the upcoming season.

Need to have grass on the ground before you can put cows on it. At least you don't have to play on it every second game.:D

And what about your username. The only thing in common is that I work in monty.

Re: mmvca

When does the fixture look like coming out?

Looks like there will be a uneven amount of teams with Sunshine YCW joining. Is there any other teams which have come up or gone down?

St Marys now have C Turf instead of A Mats.

Re: mmvca

Moreland Council holding a Water Forum tonight. Should be very interesting on where we're heading with the grounds for the up coming season.
