Moreland Council holding a Water Forum tonight. Should be very interesting on where we're heading with the grounds for the up coming season.

I went past Smith reserve yesterday( st marys turf ground) and they were digging up half the turf table. Cannot see it being ready in 2 weeks time.

Re: mmvca

Just received an email from the NWCA, outlining the proposed merger between the NWCA and the MMVCA for season 2008/09. Its a discussion paper that outlines everything from new name, colours, administration and competition structure.

This is the first time a possible merger has actually got past the associations and to club level for discussion. Its very interesting reading and it will create great debate.:)

Re: mmvca

Any new arrivals for Barkly st?

Seen in the local rag, they had a major upgrade of their club rooms $600,000 or so.

I dont know why it keeps coming up it my sound good but it sounds pretty clear they need it more than us all of our committee eg pailini and co only signed til the end of this season and he said it will b his last it will just b a takeover if they have already gone too this much trouble we dont need them although they make it hard with clubs with juniors and council wont build any more turf ground they want too get rid of them for costs reasons

Re: mmvca

Have heard that along with 'Nifty' Neville Taylor hanging up the boots, Heath 'Small man syndrome' Karlson has gone bush to captain/coach. Won't bother St.Andrews, they'll just 'acquire' some more handy players. So they should be up there again.

With Callum Appleyard coming back from O/S the Redbacks attack will be bolstered, but we all know they'll make the semi again and do the big choke. If Tarek 'Moneybags' Moughanie remembers he has 10 others playing with him they might just be a chance.

Bring on 07/08

Thats going to bring them back to the field. Hows your top four looking mmvca, with the season just about to start, and not to many changes to club lists, it might be time to have a look at your top 4 again.:)

Lets just say I'm a keen supporter of the competition.

Other news doing the rounds:

* Socials - Danny Campbell's had enough and needs a rest after continuous hard-fought footy and cricket. Also a bit of uncertainty about whether Johnno will play.

*St Francis - Have opted for a young coach, not sure of his name. Will be re-building due to a couple of experienced heads dropping to the 2nds to help their youngsters. They had a pretty young 1sts team last season anyway so they'll be up there again.

Does not look like a takeover to me. Has a whole new name, and structure with the assocation commitee and sub commitee and also the playing structure broken down

Re: mmvca

Hello All,
I have been involved in the Eastern Competition (where I played all my local cricket) however my Brother-in-law started playing in the MMVCA this year. I was quite surprised by some comments made about the "poor" playing level of the MMVCA. Old Greys play in our Senior grade and played a game against the Haig side and got rolled on the weekend. I recently had a look at the MMVCA website and was staggered to find that this club finished bottom last season. Sure Old Grey's had some players out but they were beaten through out the day and where lucky to only lose by 40 runs overall by a very very young side who were quite exceptional in the field.
I would like to know what you guys think about Haig and where they are going and where they have been in the past years?

Haig has finished bottom of A Turf the last 2 or 3 years, and they seem to be getting worse each year. They have only avoided relegation because of the way the comp is structured, with most A Turf sides having B Turf sides.

Hopefully for their sake, they can turn it around this year and get some good results on the board.

As for my top 4 bomber27, i still stick to my original 4.

Re: mmvca

Who has been coaching them?
If that side on the weekend was a side finishing bottom then I wouldn't like to be playing against a top side.

Hello guys,

Just wondering when are the upcoming seasons fixtures being released?

The word is that Moreland Council has not allocated grounds yet due to clubs either owing money or have not completed all the correct paper work. They are sticking to this, so I can't see how the MMVCA will be able to complete their fixturing until the council lets them know who has has been allocated which grounds.
