Re: mmvca

Does anyone have any news on the Socials, player gains and losses, besides Danny Campbell (Broadmeadows Subbies). What's Vernon doing now that Campbell has left?

I hear 5 of grounds won't be ready for round one.
Is this true and if so will round one be cancelled?

Apparently our ground is unplayable ( HG Smith ), but there is a chance that our game will be switched to Glenroys ground.

But we have already called a training session for Saturday.

Just spoke with our pres who has also been advised that it looks like it will be called off and all clubs will be advised today.

Re: mmvca

Nothing official yet through about turf games. But from last nights meeting there was only 6 turf grounds available: Both DeChene, Both McDonald, Morris and Cole #2. Association was deciding whether to call the whole round off or at least play one turf grade.
Looking at the grounds available, it won't be A Grade playing.

It was also thougth that the reason that grounds weren't ready was that the council was that sure that we would be going onto stage 4 water restrictions that they didn't bother spending that much time on the wickets.|@

The council have always been incompetent when it comes to preparing turf wickets. Wonder if the round will be re-scheduled? You'd be spewing wouldn't you Woodsy, missing out on the battle with the Socials? (although Cole 2 might be alright)

Always look forward to the match against Socials Banno. I'm not one of there favourite people, so its always an interesting encounter.:D I guess that will have to be put on the backburner. Now look forward to the new look Sunshine Heights, although I'm not that confident that we will play even next week.
I guess it will be a brief training session tomorrow and then a few frothies in the bar watching our 4ths.:)

Re: mmvca

hey guys, long time since I've been on here....

I'm not sure what info I can provide from Barkly Street. Largely the same team, although most of our bowlers are now fit.

I'm no longer captain as I resigned due to personal circumstances, and I'll only be playing sporadically at this stage, but I'm sure I can still knock up a few runs when I have to.

We are pretty confident of a good season as we finished the season really well last year. We have a very strong batting line-up and that is certainly our strength. Justin Summerfield (aka Crusty) is the captain of the firsts.

As for our ground, it is in great shape although the wicket table wasnt ready.

We have also had our clubrooms completely refitted and upgraded, and the old grandstand has been completely restored. In short, I'm pretty confident that our facilities are easily the best in the comp now. Both ground and clubrooms are A1!!

Interesting to note that some people would rate Anthony Hoang in the top 5 bats of the comp as I would say there are at least two guys in front of him at our club. He has plenty of ability, but he has a ways to go in consistency. This year could be the year though, and it should be great!

Re: mmvca

How are we loooking for a game this week fella's?
How are St Francis and West Coburg looking this year guys? Any lads from the 2 clubs on this forum?

Re: mmvca

Doesn't look like we will get a start again this weekend due to the terrible weather conditions forecasted.
It would be good if the comp would just make a decision durinf the day on Thursday so we dont have to worry about selecting sides.

Friday Showers, local hail. Windy. Min 10 Max 15
Saturday A few showers. Min 8 Max 16

Re: mmvca

Let's hope the weather man gets it wrong. Council seem to have got their act together.

Re: mmvca

another week, another washout..... probably.

have heard that the rnd 1 turf game will be on the 28th of oct, and if we get washed out this week, the rnd 3 two day will become 2 1day games. by that i mean that rnd 2 will be played on the 1st week of rnd 3, therefore making rnd 3 a 1day game as well.

looks like another season wasted.

Why would they organise Sunday's games. Surely players cannot agree with this after playing Saturday already.

Question 4 you guys
Can players play in the 2nd's in round 2 this weekend and then say for example play in round 2 in the 3rd's on hard wickets 2 weeks later?

Not sure what your trying to work out here. Turf and hard wickets are all playing there round 2 games this weekend. To put it simply, once you have played in a round, you cannot play another game in that round even if you are playing a catch up game down the track.
Now I'm confused.:)
