so where have gibbo and oneill gone? if they lose vernon as well, they will be a shell of the team that has made the finals recently.

hey mmvca, watched a good game of cricket on the weekend between
Keon Park & Camera and things have not changed, Camera won in a tight one
and Mcgann still sooks like a baby we he gets smashed for 4.
But I give him credit he has played an outstanding season to date and if he keeps going they will be a certain for the flag.

Hey bomber how is merlo going, any wins yet.

Lost all three. Tough weekend losing both games in close affairs. Had a chance to win all three games but didnt finish the job off. No excuses, playing some good cricket but just letting ourselves down in a couple of areas. Looking forward to the two day cricket starting this week against East Coburg.@|

Re: mmvca

Usual suspects remain undefeated after three rounds. St Andrews, West Coburg and St. Francis all recording comfortable victories.

I think Glenroy will feature in the top 4 come the end of the season with the three mentioned above.

Scott Wernham on fire with the ball for Socials as is Costello from St Francis.

Tips for this week:

St Marys vs St Andrews - Big knock from Jolley
West Coburg vs Barkly St Uniting - Runs for Portelli
Glenroy vs Haig Amateurs - Wardy to roll them by himself
The Socials vs St Francis - Will be the closest of the round
Pascoe Vale vs Sunshine Heights - A revitalised paco outfit?
Merlynston Hadfield vs East Coburg - Merlo to get the ball rolling

Re: mmvca

Scott Wernham for ST ANDREWS that is. ^^^

I would also like to mention that the youth at St Francis is unrivalled in this competition. Reading up on their player profiles on their website, I noticed that 7/11 current first XI players are 24 or under.

The trend continues in their 2's with the average age around 20 (thats with Steward in the side). Both St Francis 1st and 2nd XI's remain undefeated after three rounds which shows real positive signs for the future of the club.

Glenroy and Merlo have also taken a similar path.

Haig have blooded some tender age players but have been criticised by a few teams who have played against them as 'Crucifying their kids' by giving them large responsibilities.

It would be great to see these youngsters hang around at their various clubs as there is a lot of young talent going around. This will only assist the level of competition in the MMVCA over the next 5 years.

Re: mmvca

Played against St Francis on the weekend and they have picked up a very handy young batsmen by the name of Harding. You can't miss him, he's got to be about six foot four. Not sure where he's been playing before but he was wearing a Broady playing top.@|

Re: mmvca

Was driving past cole res and had a look at st andrews and socials pitch and it did not look like there was a wicket going to be prepared.... unless they were doing it later this afternoon.

There was no pitch definition within either of the squares at st andrews and socials.

The boys are currently putting the covers down at Hallam reserve and have imformed me that the wicket hasn't been prepared. Word is that council did not finish Raeburn, Hallam and both Cole grounds. Will be rolling them in the morning.
Don't think its going to matter anyway. Just had a look at the radar and Adelaide is absolutely copping it at the moment.

TW,

I think you will find mate that we werent supposed to put covers down tonite, as the councils have to prepare wickets tomorrow morning.

I have also heard that Moonee Valley great, Mick Harvey will be lining up for St Andrews this weekend. They are only getting stronger.

Re: mmvca

hello all,

Has been interesting reading through the thread.

Is it possible West Coburg has been a little under-rated?

A Turf is 3 from 3 and seems to have a settled side with 11 capable players.

Stephen Greenwood in his second year at the club is getting used to the Greenish tinge of mmvca wickets and has hit 40 and 66 in his last two digs. Tarek has shown good form and Portelli is always a threat.

Bowling attack has to be one of the best in the competition. Barker Appleyard and Adams are a good bunch.

Only weakness may be lack of a spinner. Captain of B Turf is an offie and there is leg spinner in C Turf that bowls good balls but is raw, neither can bat and would be unlikely to play any part.

Huge week for the club last week with 10 wins from 10 games for the senior side including an outright victory!

Also good to see the annual mauling of the Barklay St attack. The 320 earlier today not quite as impressive as the 500 last year.
