Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in Bangladesh

Re: Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in Bangladesh

Sangakkara has moved along to 37 which gives him 7000 ODI runs. A fantastic effort.

Sri Lanka are now 6/69 off 30 overs. They requires 84 further runs to win the match.

Re: Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in Bangladesh

Sri Lanka 6/114 off 43 overs.
Sangakkara 59*
Maharoof 32*

These two have put on 63 runs so far.

Sri Lanka need 39 off 42 to win.

Re: Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in Bangladesh

Shakib strikes!!!!!!!

Sangakkara is gone for 59 caught and bowled. A fantastic knock that under pressure.

Sri Lanka 7/114 off 43.1 overs.

So 39 needed off 41 with 3 wickets in hand.

This will be a very tight finish.

Re: Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in Bangladesh

Shakib strikes twice in the over!!!!!

Kulasekara gone for a second ball duck.

Sri Lanka 8/114 off 44 overs.

A double wicket maiden from Shakib!!!

Sri Lanka need 39 off 36 to win with 2 wickets in hand.

Re: Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in Bangladesh

The last 5 overs will be under powerplay conditions.

35 needed off 30 with 2 wickets in hand.

Re: Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in Bangladesh

A shocking over from Rubel Hossain as Murali take 20 runs off it.

Sri Lanka only need 15 runs from 24 balls with 2 wicket in hand.

Well done Rubel Hossain. You just cost Bangladesh the series. @|

Re: Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in Bangladesh

Sri Lanka won by 2 wickets with 11 balls to spare.

Murali hit a career best 33 not out off only 16 deliveries. Maharoof did extremely well to make 38 not out and more importantly hang around with Sangakkara when the game was on the line.

So Sri Lanka win the series but not convincingly.

Now Zimbabwe face Bangladesh in three more ODI's.

Re: Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in Bangladesh

Hmm... not the result they would have been wanting. To have Sri Lanka 5/6 and then lose, well, thats terrible. They did very well, but that last over from Rubel Hossain was shite. Aww well, they are definately on the improve. Shakib (2 for 22 from 10) was once again very good.

Re: Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in Bangladesh

Terrible choke, says a lot about Bangladesh really. They either get absolutely smashed or they get themselves into a winning position only to let it slide.

They should have won this game, letting Muralitharan score 33 off 16 is unforgivable. Sri Lanka did enough damage control to give themselves a sniff, Sangakkara was superb as was Maharoof and then Murali put the icing on the cake.

The one-day series between the Tigers and Zimbabwe should be a beauty.

Absloutley Positivley agree with you on that one mate.

Re: Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in Bangladesh

Zimbabwe's 3 game series against Bangladesh is underway. On a pitch where scoring has proved difficult, Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat first.

They've crawled to 1/12 in the 9th over, Rainsford and Mupariwa have bowled five maidens between them, including the first three overs of the match. Rainsford has the sole wicket, getting Junaid Suddique plumb in front for 3.

Bangladesh XI: Tamim Iqbal, Junaid Suddique, *Mohammad Ashraful, +Mushfiqur Rahim, Raqibul Hasan, Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmudullah, Naeem Islam, Mashrafe Mortaza, Nazmul Hossain, Rubel Hossain

Zimbabwe XI: Vusi Sibanda, Hamilton Masakadza, +Tatenda Taibu, Stuart Matsikenyeri, Sean Williams, Elton Chigumbura, Keith Dabengwa, *Prosper Utseya, Ray Price, Tawanda Mupariwa, Ed Rainsford

Re: Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in Bangladesh

Ashraful gets a leading edge and Rainsford takes a nice diving catch at mid-on giving Chigumbura his first for the day.

2/15 from 13 overs. Tamim Iqbal is 6 from 36, Raqibul Hasan is the new batsman.

Re: Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in Bangladesh

Masakadza picks up a wicket in his first over, a wide delivery outside off and Tamim Iqbal hangs the bat out and edges behind to Taibu.

3/31 from 18 overs, Shakib al Hasan is at the crease now.

Re: Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in Bangladesh

Raqibul Hasan scoops a return catch straight to Ray Price for 28.

4/66 from 24, Shakib up to 15.

Re: Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in Bangladesh

Chigumbura juggles a catch giving Price his second wicket and sending Shakib al Hasan on his way

5/71 in the 28th over, Bangladesh are in real trouble. Here's Mahmudullah.

Re: Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in Bangladesh

Mahmudullah throws his wicket away with a silly reverse sweep that travels straight to Dabengwa at point. Price has 3/20

6/103 in the 38th over, Mushfiqur Rahim has 21 and must be there at the end if Bangladesh want to post a competitive score. Naeem Islam walks to the crease.

Re: Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in Bangladesh

Keith Dabengwa comes onto bowl and strikes in his first over. He uses the arm ball well and it gets through Rahim's defences as he plays the wrong line.

7/105 after 39. Mashrafe Mortaza is the new batsman, he can hit a ball too and Bangladesh will need that today.

Re: Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in Bangladesh

Dabengwa has another, Mortaza tries to go down the ground but picks out Masakadza at long-on and he is out for five.

8/121 from 45 overs. The powerplay is now on, Mortaza's hitting would have come in handy.

Re: Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in Bangladesh

Nazmul Hossain tries to smash Price into next week but is stumped for a duck and then Naeem Islam also tries a similar apprach but top edges and Dabengwa completes an easy caught and bowled in the very next over.

Bangladesh are all out for 124 from 48.1 overs, Raqibul Hasna top socred with 28. Ray Price secured his best ever ODi figures, taking 4/22 with Keith Dabegwa taking a handy 3/15.

Ashraful's decision to bat looks to have been a poor one. The last four games played at this ground has seen the side bowl first win so Ashraful's choice looks to have detrimented his team. That was their third lowest score against Zimbabwe too.

Plenty of work to do for Bangladesh although this pitch looks to be nightmare to bat on so it won't be easy for Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe don't have to do much though, they've got plenty of time to score the runs, they won't be in much of a hurry and can afford to take their time.
