The BaggyGreens Thread

Correction guys. I have been watching so much cricket last few days have lost track of time. Today is final, not the third day of the shield. Tassie lose to WA, Blues/Bulls a draw with SA v VIC also looking like adraw too. draws in four days cricket we dont need. Can thank the Jekyll and Hyde pitches, good wicket first two days then flattening to batting paradises for the remainder. You'd not think so given the capitulation by Tasmania this afternoon on a Bellerive belter. My Tassie mates at the TCA wont be happy. Lefty Joel Paris the pick of the Warriors quicks. Ashton Agar finished with the incredibly economic figures of 3-12 off 18 overs, to go with his vital 74 runs. Who said his career was over

Not sure, he bloody well shud if he is their opener choice for the First Test. I do know that pet Marcus Harris will be given yet another chance to impress.

McSweeney is opening the batting for the 2nd A match.

Along with Harris, who although I don’t want him in the side, is probably our 2nd best candidate. Bancroft is horribly out of form and Konstas looked like he didn’t have the right mindset with how he got out in the last A match.

Also Harris opening means he’s more likely to fail and not be picked.

Guess which one is Labuschagne and which one is McSweeney:

I do think the back lift could be lower for both as takes longer to play a forward defense.

McSweeneys is definitely a fair bit lower, the higher camera angle for the photo makes it look higher. I really like his technique, it looks very compact.

Marnus definitely has struggled against proper fast bowling before. McSweeney does have that lower backlift and seems to get forward very well when defending.

McSweeney has been selected in the test squad. Inglis has also been selected, presumably as a back up wicketkeeper and middle order bat given his fine form in the shield.
Finally selectors seeing sense and choosing youth. Of the three main contenders, Mac has the better temperament. That mature Konstas knock yesterday showed he aint all that far away from following those two into Tests. Webster prob a touch unlucky not to have the reserve bat job.

I might be biased but I honestly rate Inglis higher than Webster as a pure bat. Although Webster being an allrounder is a huge plus.

Konstas’s knock was great but his other dismissals show he isn’t quite ready for the Aussie team.

The fact that it was his last knock shows he is a fast learner and maturer. Not quite ready yet, but will be when both Ussie and/or Smithy retire. I see Konstas as our future long term #3, the place which made Steve Smith a legend.

How did you do. Any footage.

Yeah I think I posted the the link in the sub-state thread.

Shit tip of a pitch, we restricted them to 130 with the ball not misbehaving much.

They bowled, supposedly with a cheaper ball and it started falling apart in the 8th over which meant but was rolling.
