The BaggyGreens Thread

allrounders are basically pointless.
Why. Not with all rounders the calibre of Cameron Green and Aaron Hardie, even Xavier Bartlett while Spencer Johnson or Nathan Ellis are my only specialist quicks. Looks a pretty useful attack to me.

Am currently following the first Test of the U19 Aussies v India dual format tour.
India only scraped in by 2 wickets so a good overall showing by our kids in their conditions. the second Youth Test starts tomorrow. You guys following this too?

Why pay for it when it is free. New Shield season starts in an hour and it too is free live stream on CA website.
Bit hard to get NRL games down here in the land of Crows and Port. Plus I support Cronulla and we hardly ever get on FTA.

Plus from a cricket perspective if I can get away from listening to that verbal diarrhoea riddled peanut James Brayshaw I'll take it.

James Brayshaw
There are worse than him commentating international cricket. There are free sites that cover NRL and cricket live. Just ask and I will drop you a link. NRL itself will have full replays if you miss the live game.

I did the whole pirate sites thing back in 2009 when Leeds United (the team I support in English football) were languishing in League 1. I won't do pirate sites anymore.

Kayo is worth it for me as I watch a vast array of sports on there.

I am including red ball domestic cricket in this thread.
State cricket is now underway for another season. Most interest is in finding the next Test opener after Dave Warner retirement. Candidates Travis Head (SA), Cameron Bancroft (WA), Matt Renshaw (Qld), Sam Whiteman (WA). Yesterday 19 year old Sydney native Sam Konstas put up his name with a first time century (152). Two years ago he broke his clubs First Grade all time season batting record at a tender 17 yrs.

I’m still strongly against opening with Head outside of Asia. Against an accurate bowler with a brand new swinging/seaming ball he’s dead meat. He statistically has a small box near his off stump that he really to deal with compared to everything else.

Opening with him exploits that weakness, I’d rather keep him at 5 where he’s been exceptional.

I would love for Konstas to be consistent, he could EASILY find himself opening the batting for the test team in a year or 2.

Dead set against it too. Selectors are trying to juggle the possibility of not having Cam Green to bat, with the need for a new opener with Smith moving back down the order where he became a legend, to take Green's spot. I think Smith remaining as opener against the strong India attack is the best option.

I say fast track him as he is an exceptional talent, best since the emergence of Will Pucovski imho. George Bailey watched Konstas yesterday and no doubt was impressed. As there is an A series against India shortly he may be tempted to give the kid a crack.

Sam Konstas is now the youngest player to score hundreds in both Shield innings since the country's all-time leading run scorer, Ricky Ponting. Some feat and in only his fifth Shield match.

I hope he's not going to be another flash in the pan like other youngsters have been in the past. He sounds like a weapon.

Good to see you back Zman Zman . I dont think Sam is a flash in the pan. Doug Walters wants him to open against the Indians. A huge call but Dougie shud be able to recognize talent when he sees it.
