I always finish off a text message with an icon, otherwise it seems emotionlessI once kissed the Blaney stone Jessica.
I could talk the spines off a hedgehog.
Sometimes I like to express some emotion by an icon rather than words. Not always. I feel an icon can often express better and more succinctly than words. And even be deliberately ambiguous.
When teaching I loved drawing pictures with lots of colours on my black and white boards. I taught the "kinkiness" of the graphs of polynomial functions with slender, smooth and colourful curves, for contrast to other powered polynomials, of course. Go Pollys. For my Seniors I explained with a deliberate straight face the more powerful a polynomial function, the more kinkiness it could have and all the possible roots it could have. I expected and ignored the sniggers and chuckles that followed but knew the general rule had sunken in, even snippets in year books..
They were shocked to attention the day I told them I was going to teach them all about "Sets".
Language and communication is more than just words. It takes many forms and styles. Body and facial expressions, the visual in many ways, the voice including its tone, eye contact, ... like even the way one dresses and appears, .... smell, ... status, ... gold chains, .. MAGA hat, ...
More importantly, I keep in touch regularly with my two east state wonderful daughters by Messenger with many an icon.and funnie.

Did this happen to you Terry.
I hate days like that Craig, when everything goes wrong.Woke too early today so knew it was gonna be one of those days. Not wrong. Firstly Bonnie did a crap on the decking as it was raining overnite and I walked on it with bare feet. Then my pool filter did not prime until I found the problem 100s of tiny palm seeds had clogged the filter and skimmer boxes caused by the violent storm Then to top off my bag of pool salt sprung a leak as I was carrying it to be applied. All this before 9am. ggrrrr. It is so bloody humid too so closing windows and doors.
Jeez I hope the rest of the day improves.

Thanks for the offer mate. My son says he does not know why I am unable to shut down the usual way so I am now using the button on the hard drive. Failing that turn off at the power point.Need some help?
There might be two reasons for that, you might have a computer virus that's preventing you from shutting down. May I suggest you Google and download an antivirus software like Norton's and use their two free trial then run it after you install to see if that's the issue. The other reason might be that your on/off switch is faulty, and it might need replacing, that's a hardware problem. Thanks for the offer mate. My son says he does not know why I am unable to shut down the usual way so I am now using the button on the hard drive. Failing that turn off at the power point.
Thanks for advice, but my son built my computer so he'd know if that was the case and would've told me..you might have a computer virus
Ok try an antivirus software then and see if that helps. Thanks for advice, but my son built my computer so he'd know if that was the case and would've told me..
Why are you?does not know why I am unable to shut down the usual way
That is the question. Only via the normal PC procedure as I can shut down by pressing the button on the hard drive for about five secs. Why are you?
Already mentioned that to my son. Yet to here if he has acted on it.Ok try an antivirus software then and see if that helps.
If you don't. have anything important you need on your hard drive you might consider doing a total reset and wiping it clean and starting all over again. It's most likely an adware virus you picked up whilst surfing the net, lots of rubbish internet sites put advertising pop up viruses on your pc without you knowing it. Or you can try an antivirus software as I suggested beforeThat is the question. Only via the normal PC procedure as I can shut down by pressing the button on the hard drive for about five secs.
