Don't you think the problem lies with the VTCA though? The fact that everyone can have this perception that YCCC pays everyone, whether they do or not, means that the competition isn't managing the Paid Player process effectively. It just seems like it is another shambolic half-arsed attempt by an organising body that is pretty inept. These are the same guys that swear by the bonus point system, which encourages defensive bullsh*t cricket and rewards teams who play every second game on a postage stamp, scoring more runs and therefore getting more points.

here here!
Finishing at 7.00pm every Saturday, just to make an extra 20 runs!
Lunacy!

Not saying Jones would struggle - he's a gun, always makes team of the year and looks really organised at the crease. But with the ball coming down a few kms quicker just think the one coming into his body that he doesn't seem to like might undo him a bit more than most of the pop-gun attacks in Senior A tend to trouble him.

I'd love to see them with 10 players in the GF because Jan has demanded more cash again on the eve of the big one. Shocking behaviour! Unfortunately probably only Strathmore will get close, and I'm not sure whether it is worse having Tupper win a flag.

Yeah i heard about that. He wasnt going to play in th GF until his club paid him more money!
Rumour has it he sold St Albans out for 50c more too!

The RPB guys reckon there was some genuine animosity in the field from his own teammates during that game too. Think the sandwich lady just pipped for best clubman that year.

Agreed!!! Don't think Jones is playing for the love of the game, and he's not listed on their paid players. And if the rumours about Jan's fallout with his previous VTCA club are true, then he is on a fair whack of coin too. Will be an interesting conversation to be had if they make the GF this year!

If you were their committee, you wouldn't be happy seeing that much coin go down to a bunch of park cricketers like CYMS.

And what a win by CY's and an even better choke by APW losing 6-30 odd , good to see how they play under pressure! Big smokey come finals CY's.
Maybe its the green tracksuit thing , ala YCCC , but great to see them lose.

Don't think CY's will be figuring in finals. But they will be the biggest hit or miss team in the comp. They were all out for 90 and 160 against the pedestrian mediums of Melbourne High, and then racked up nearly 300 against the likes of Jan, Brown, Jones, Macumber etc. Go figure!? They could clean up some sides if Leetet gets going. The bloke got 51 wickets last year. No matter what grade you're playing or what puss you roll down, 51 wickets is a big f*cking year!!!

Is it true Donaldson was asked to play ones round 1 of the season due to a lack of keeper in the 1s, but declined as the thought of playing some real cricket against quality cricketers scared the crap out of the big talking blonk?

That's a true story. Came from the great Garry Turner's mouth, as he has to take up keeping at the young age of 57.

NYHUS - Slogger.

Those that pay mercenaries deserve to get burnt occasionally when they get outbid at last minute.... not saying what Jan did was right but if you choose to deal with these sort of people, and lets face it - he has screwed Druids and Wyndamvale previously - you need to realise its a chance.

Glenn Jones - gun - will make plenty of runs in Senior Div !!

Moderator - can we just bar clubbed from speaking here, think we;ve all had enough - they cheat, they win, we get it.....

The St Albans story gets better. Apparently Jan took the call from AWStC while at his first training session down at St Albans. Agree with you OnTheLookout, it's not as if St Albans would have been going in blind on what sort of bloke he is. The coach would only have to talk to his brother or his cousins about how he farked over Druids. You can see why Druids recruited Kirk Lucas the next year, most honest bloke in VTCA.

The StAlbans coach Dave Roach knew about Asif as he was captain coach of druids when they won the flag but no one thought he was this low and if you want to know the story Browny was in the car park waiting while Asif was training with St Albans so it wasn't just a out of the blue phone call they had this planned well before he told StAlbans he wasn't playing. This was proven by AWStC leaving a space on their professional player list.

Just to let ya know, there is an ignore function. You can choose to add him to that list and then you don't have to worry about him.

And apparently paying $65k to players this year. Premierships don't seem to come cheap. Would be interesting to see how many players on cash take the field in the GF. Who knows how many in Senior last year (22...?), would ahve been only one in Senior A - Ferguson, Bottomley might have been getting looked after with some stuff, but wouldn't have been on any big coin.

Not sure David was captain coach that year though, think Fraser as in charge, but the Roach connection is definitely there.
