Australia in New Zealand

Re: Australia in New Zealand

Seems a pretty fair chase to me, not unreasonable that with 16 overs less to lose wickets in that the required rate goes up by 1 run an over

Why wasn't the Punter player of the match?

Disgraceful decision again.

Agreed.

No idea how White's fifty was better than Ponting's. Simply incomprehensible.

Re: Australia in New Zealand

It's not that bad a decision. Sure Ponting's innings was flashier, but White was the one who anchored the innings and steered Australia home undefeated. Plus he took the crucial catch to dismiss McCullum.

I wouldn't have complained if Ponting won it, but White was hardly undeserving.

Re: Australia in New Zealand

The Duckworth-Lewis calculation favoured NZ, yes, but Australia were the benefactor in the other rain-affected game. Like Caesar has said, it all comes down to how much resources Australia has left and how many overs are remaining. As soon as I saw the game was rain-affected and that NZ hadn't bowled a ball, I knew Australia's chase was going to be a lot more difficult.

Even despite that they were up to the task. Ponting and White were great with Voges and Hussey chipping in.

They've won the series now, I reckon some of the other fringe guys will get a go, McKay will likely come in for someone and Bailey might make his debut.

Re: Australia in New Zealand

I love the way Voges and White were chipping away, getting there comfortably. Then Voges got out then... BAM... game finished, Australia win. Hussey comes in and all is won.

NEVER!!!

Lets go for 4-1, 4-1 looks a lot damn better than 3-2.

Full steam ahead as far as I'm concerned. Let's reload and charge again.

Re: Australia in New Zealand

Seems like a good choice for MOM but LtD would never admit it. Hauritz could have won it if it wasnt for that late smashing he copped

Bollinger has copped a bit of a caning in this series whilst Harris has been saved by some tailend wickets with the only batsmen he he can get out are Ingram and Broom

Re: Australia in New Zealand

Ponting deserved the MOTM, played the best, deserved the best. He set up the win.

Bollinger isn't having a good series. Harris has come back down to Earth, but he hasn't plummetted like another bowler I know. Now he's of standard Australian quality bowler. He will stay.

Also good to see Johnson in form.

Re: Australia in New Zealand

To be fair Eddie Bollinger has been up against one of the best strikers in the world in McCullum, as well as small boundaries.

It is hard when guys are throwing the bat and after 3 overs you have gone for 30 runs.

I wouldn't read to much into it, although he has probably been struggling for a bit of rhythm.

How has Clint McKay gone this series eddie?

Australia have a very busy schedule this year, resting players for dead rubbers is the best way to go. I suspect Cricket Australia will rest at least one or two players from the side that won on Thursday.

Give some Test hopefuls a lead up.

Re: Australia in New Zealand

If it weren't for Smith having just played a four-day game (albeit in only 3 days), I'd call him up and give Hauritz a rest. It wouldn't be a bad idea in the lead-up to the Test series. Pity about the timing though.

Re: Australia in New Zealand

Says alot about a player who has played 1 first class match in 12 months cant even get through an ODI series without getting injured yet is supposed to be in the test side?...
