Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

It was a good day of cricket. I think both teams will feel they have done well. India batted well in the post lunch session but lost their way towards the end. Dhoni and Pathan are both capable with the bat so 350 is possible. I think India could have had a chance of getting 400 or more had they not lost the wickets of Dravid and Laxman.

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

How was Ganguly unlucky, he was undone by a good catch, cant comment on the Tendulkar dismissal as i didn't see it, but from what people are saying i would have to agree with you. But the pitch isn't fast or bouncy, its a slow featherbed, easy for batting, and i think i see a draw over the horizon

Dravid fell to an ugly swipe, just when the century was his for the taking. But its good he made the most of the life he was given, and cashed in well and truely, his form seems to be creeping back

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

Yeah I mean he was unlucky because he got out to a brilliant catch. Otherwise the ball would raced to the boundary. Dhoni has to prove himself tomorrow or karthik is waiting to replace him. I hope we can get a good partnership. You are right that the wicket looks to be flat.

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

Oh right, i get where you are coming from, Hussey must have brilliant reflexes to old onto that scorcher. But like you said, that was on its way to the boundary and him on his way.

Isn't Dhoni the better keeper compared to Karthik? Personally i feel that a wicket keeper should be selected on their skills behind the wicket, rather than in front of it.

Its such a shame that such flat wickets are being produced nowadays, just so that the test will last the full 5 days and more money in the coffers. I guess money is more important than an interesting game of cricket

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

Day 1 ended with equal honours to Australia & India.
India: 297/6 (Dravid unlucky to miss out a deserving century).
Brett Lee took 3 wickets.Superb bowling!!!!!
Good to see Sehwag opening and Dravid batting at no.3
Tomorrow is important for India as they have to score at least above 350 and Australia have to bowl out them within 350.
So it will be an interesting contest as well.

PS: Heard & read a lot of Shaun Tait;but was he effective enough worthy of all the talk.

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

Well he has recently been in one-day mode, just needs to find his rhythm. Hes deadly when he is on the money, and hes been that in recent limited overs matches, domestic and international

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

India have been bowled out for 330. A few dodgy decisions, but the pitch isnt as bouncy as expected. They lost the last 4 wickets for 33 runs. Johnson bowled erratic but he got the wickets and Clark was a bit unlucky. Australia bowled well but now its down to the batsmen. I will be interested to see how well Rogers will do.

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

Will 330 turn out to be a good 1st innings score? I guess we'll get an idea when the Aussies bat. The Indians had a good partnership or two but the lower middle-order managed to throw it away again.

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

awesome start for india. australia are already 3 down. and that too without zaheer in the team. brilliant stuff from pathan and rp. rogers was unlucky. especially to get such a decision on debut. few decisions went against india too but two wrongs dont make a right.

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

It was a good session. The first half was won by Australia and India dominated in the next half. Australia are under pressure after the loss of 3 quick wickets, but their middle order is very strong. India needs to make more inroads after lunch if they want to restrict Australia under 300.

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

Big wicket for India. Great ball by Ishant to get Ponting and good catch by Dravid too. He wasnt in good form but everyone know how great his batting is. India are on top. Great bowling change by Kumble.

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

It's down to Gilchrist to pull them out of the mire. We've seen him do it so often in the past, will it be his match again?

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

australia are counter attacking now. we need to get either symonds or gilchrist soon. preferably symonds.
i was impressed by irfan and sharma the way they bowled in the beginning but india has lost the plot again. hopefull the drop catch by sachin wont prove too costly.

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

Australia have been scoring at more than 6 an over for the last 10 overs. India got two vital wickets of Clarke and Ponting in the post lunch session but the counter attack by Symonds and Gilchrist has shifted the balance slightly in favour of Australia. They are not out of the woods yet but these two are putting up a good fightback in this session. India are in desperate need of wickets.

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

That drop catch by Sachin is costing us. We need to make a plan to get Symonds in the tea break. The runs are coming too easily.

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

jumbo gets his 600th wicket!!! what a great player. we get a breakthrough just after the 100 partnership was completed. right back in the game now. lets wrap up the tail soon. a lead of more than 120-130 will be invaulable.

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

Congratulations to Kumble for the 600th wicket. He is India's greatest ever bowler and one of the best in the world. Now India are back in the game. I hope we can get the tail as quickly as our tail got out.

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

Kumble has been a great servant for Indian cricket and India's biggest match winning bowler. Congratulations to him for his 600th wicket. With the wicket of Symonds and Gilchrist India are well and truly into the tail. Seems that the pitch is not that flat after all. Indian bowlers have bowled quite well.

got him yes piss off your out!!
haha 12th man
symonds should say it lol
i think lee was lucky to get tendulkars wicket that looked as though it may have gone over the stumps
but from here on in i think australia is gonna wipe india like a dirty arse
hahahaha isnt that exactly what has happened until now. except india has done that to australia.
bowled them out in under 2 sessions. australia have just managed to last 50 overs.

great bowling performance from everyone. we have bowled well even without zaheer and sreesanth in the team.
the lead of 118 is a very good one. need a good batting performance now to build on it.

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

I have a prediction alright. India will get a lead of 500-700 and Australia will be bundled out for 350 if they are lucky. But Phil Jaques will make 200 and Chris Rogers will make 100. Then the rest will be out for less than 50. Even with Jaffer getting out at the time of writing I'm still saying that.

Man there have been some bad umpiring decisions this test. Nothing like Sydney, but first Tendulkars, then not giving Dravid out to an inswinging yorker and then Rogers one. Maybe replacing Steve Bucknor wasn't such a great decision, because if you ask me Asad Rauf is worse
