i will tell you that if you have a target on your head the story has Jeffers in a very bad spot acting like a tool, and if you were wearing the blue and white it is all about the history of how Don Jacobsson hates Jeffers

No it wouldn't be. You quickly learn to laugh about the mistakes printed and move on. it is generally a new source for hanging s*** on blokes at your clubs, and sledging opportunities

Amusing to read the final round preview (mid match) about young eastie, rob ryans potential for taking a bag against north ballarat.... The young fella hasnt played in the 1's since christmas. Its not investigative journalism, its just a matter of reading the team results sheet handed to them after each weekend. And the bloke probably walks out of the courier with a lazy $70k tucked under his arm.... DAYLIGHT ROBBERY

i agree.

not sure if you had ever read the tennis write up from the courier but basically there is a bloke i know who used to write the atricle for it, for nothing, and he would e-mail it to the courier before 12pm Sunday.

The courier would then go and edit (which consisted of hitting spell check) the article and attach a reporters name to it. dodgy??

the joke was on them in the end because due to their lack of involvement with tennis this bloke was altering his mates names and they had no idea

I believe i am pretty truthful and am not too biased. As i said before Jeffrey did not say anything directly to the umpires on the Sunday. There were lots of appeals and groans, but when isnt there any of that in a Semi when the game is tense. The best way i can put it is if anyone (even the most hated player in the BCA) was in his shoes and got suspended from a Granny, i would feel sorry for them cause it didnt seem like it was worth a suspension let alone a report.

Its the same when he does the central highlands footy. obviously doesn't cross reference his preview with the teams. Probably just makes stuff up when under the pump. Atleast he is better than Ken Hill.

Correct but before that, Skinner was dropped and almost run out. Those could be classified as the two chances dont you think?
And it wasnt directed to the umpires

a dropped chance and an almost run out is not "getting him out"

it does imply that he has already been dismissed twice.

if you took the two examples given you would have to say something along the lines of lets get him out this time

Regardless of weather the tribunal should of suspended him for the grand final or not after seeing the incident and hearing from numerous people involved in it, I find it difficult to believe that a five match penalty was warranted. I believe Fletcher copped five as well which would seem EXTREMELY severe.

Is their any grounds that Mount Clear can apeal the severity of the sentence or the guilty verdict in any sort of forum?

I believe there is no appeal process that is run by cricket victoria like there is with footy. Not sure if there is anything in the local system that can be done once its set its set

How about we have a look at the game.

They haven't met since round 1 so any previous form between the two is few and far between.

Mount Clear won easy last time but will be without Clark from round 1 but gain Goonan.

not sure if faulkhead played last time.

Not sure how naps go against spin but that will probably be the main factor. if they can dominate in this area they will be well on there way to victory.

I think the toss is very important. Mount Clear like most teams love to bat first but I reckon they will struggle when the pressure heats up if they have to bat last. Guys in the middle to lower order like Ash George, Sam McVitty, Lincoln Stephen & Steve Nicho all are agressive and like to hit in the air alot. If it comes down to these guys in a run chase I would be backing Naps to clean them up.

Having said that Naps batting can be like a yo yo at times. They were dismissed for 53 in one game against Ballarat Redan and only 151 in round 1 but since the early rounds have looked very good.

My tip is whoever wins the toss wins the game.

I believe Naps will win because they carry more depth in their batting. Yes they were bowled out for 53 but it was on a goat track that day with Landry cleaning them up. L. Stephen, Micho, George Mcvitty are all aggressive but i doubt they have the technique or temperment to bat for long periods or time against cordon, thommo, ringin and faulkhead. naps middle to lower order will much better handle Mounties bowlers as i rekon after Blake and Kentish who are both guns, their bowling is not strong.

Both top orders are evenly matched and possess strong batters however over four days of cricket it is the middle to lower order of naps and their more consistent bowling will see them get over the line on a close game.
Man or the match prediction: L. Cordon (Will take wickets and make runs)

just on that, why isnt there a man of the match? if you have been lucky enough to play in a grand final, and perhaps even win one, there is always a bloke who gets the horn on such an occasion an plays out of his jocks. (babs snowy?)

Credit should be given to a player who may well win a premiership for your team. Even if you dont win and someone takes a 10fa for the match. that deserves some sort of recognition for the biggest game of the year? any thoughts out there.

And if so, down to what grades should have a man of the match? All of them? just first and seconds? Im interested to hear peoples thoughts.

all grades should have a man of the match medallion. they do it in footy and all grand finals have two umpires that can decide who gets it.

they could name each grades medal after former greats of the past.

agree totally. For eg. the 3rds could have a medal named after the great Ron Jennings. Purely on the fact that he sledged me saying " Gee I thought you could bat". I was batting at 10, obviously i couldnt. Genius ron. Genius.

Seriously though, i agree with the dishwashing detergent. That should be a proposal for next year.

Faulkhead, Walter or Banwell didn't play in round 1. So would be fair to say that the Naps batting line up will be a bit more secure than the 140 odd they made back then. Lot of cricket been played since then, so recent form much more relevant.
