You surely aren't talking about Chris Morris from Point are you? Sure he was a very handy bat about 15 years ago but he's well into his 40s now and helping us out in the 5ths when he's not down the beach.

I'd like to meet you one day Pidgeon. You are definitely one of the strangest, most out-of-touch people I've ever come across. I enjoy how you are obviously passionate about cricket but you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about......ever.

You remind me of that footage of little Johnny Howard trying to bowl a tennis ball with the Australian troops. You're keen to appear knowledgeable and your heart's in the right place but you're f**king hopeless. A cricket tragic.
I might be out of touch but you and many others in here are rude.

You absolute tosser!!! You obviously were not at the granny so ill leave it at that. For anyone that was there, they saw a game that saw both teams in winning positions. As for the lion Show, id like to see what you would do if the opposition needed 8 an over off the last ten in a grand final. Oh thats right, you guys have not been in that position. Hopefully your recruiting is as good as you say and Darley will be challenging next year. Then we will see how your team takes pressure.

If playing with the fielders on the boundary wins the game and ultimately a grand final, then why not do it?! Would worry bout it Don...Bit of a difference between 1st place and 7th placed lions...

Still a long wait ahead of us to see if all this talk can be warranted from lions etc...

But then what is bringing them through the gates?! Certainly not the BCA...would it kill them to maybe advertise big games other than a one paragraph sentence written in the courier once a week?

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

im pretty sure whether Mt Clear or anyone else for that matter started smashing 45 zacs a game it aint gonna bring the ballarat people out to watch a game of cricket.
BCA is clearly stuck in the 80's thats why people are not playing anymore. its boring....

the premier league game that had over 650 runs scored in 100 overs didnt bring people through the gates so i doubt a ballarat game ever will

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

why can't a local game pull a crowd, there is no reason what so ever that a ballarat game can't pull at least 150ppl. All it needs is some smart advertising and a marketable game that sponsors are willing to throw some cash at

Exactly and that is the problem. Footy teams can manage to throw money into actually paying players and the entire BCA cant even afford to advertise a little...

Most people are oblivious to the fact that there is cricket going on of a saturday arvo unless they have some connection to it. Put on some food, sell some drinks, get more than a half page coverage of sub-par reporting in the courier about the A-grade or something...

You cant complain about not having ppl playing cricket...there are more cricket players than there are footy players around..The grand final was amazing to play in because at times there were hundreds of people there and the atmosphere was brilliant!

You blokes obviously don't realise how boring cricket is to watch. Its hardly action packed and supporters have to wait 2 weeks to get a result. If I wasn't a player you'd have to pay me to go watch local cricket every week.

true with that but the 2 week game is boring for a spectator aspect but why dont they try and to promote the 20/20 games. they should look how they improve how its run and promote it on tv or better in the courier and it might pull a crowd.

Come on you blokes. You sound like netballers whingeing for their slice of the exposure pie. Who cares if people come to watch us? Just enjoy playing the game! They don't go to watch Premier League in Melbourne so why would they come out and watch us? Footy's great to watch because a) it's a great spectacle, and b) there is f**k all else to do in winter. Summer has hot weather, the races, the beach, the river, golf, etc, etc. Unfortunately, watching local cricket that has ************ all attacking flare has hardly the appeal of a day at Torquay or Flemington or Echuca. I am 34 and never been to Cox Plate Day due to cricket commitments, and I love the Spring Carnival. Now if you had to choose between a day watching horses and scantily clad lovelies with the boys in Melbourne or sitting there at the Eastern Oval on an esky watching Steve O'Loughlin play across the line all arvo what would you choose?

I was referring to your potential bumper crowds. They wouldn't show up to watch because they'd be doing those other things. As far as we go, three days a week (training and playing) for us older blokes is enough and many of our younger fellas work part-time jobs so 20/20 is not an option for us. And lastly, you can't honestly suggest Mt Clear won the flag because they played in the 20/20 comp.

I didn't think I'd hit a nerve about this one. I just can't understand why it is so important to you to have people watch you play cricket. For the most part the cricket in the BCA is not boring and is enjoyable to play. I'd think that is enough for blokes who have played all their life. But if you're keen to sign the kids' autographs while you're down at fine leg then knock yourself out!
