A massive congratulations to Ian Longmuir who plays his 600th game this Sunday a herculean effort, a great man and a even greater servant of the CMCA and Bentleigh Uniting cricket club well done.:D

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Of course, make that "Wooly" scribe. Brett, could to see you have dragged yourself away from Facebook for 5 minutes to get on board here!!!

Jimmy,
The broken pipe probably sums up WB season. The one dayer on Saturday now becomes a bit of a lottery with a Wash up's team that has the batting fire power to take off if a few things go their way.It will not be a walk in the park for WB that is for sure....

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Evening All,

Back from sunny Perth to some very interesting matches at half way stage.

The Half Bottle
The B less machine seem to get out of jail against the hapless ants who will not get anywhere near the required 246.Has the great man got an injury or is he in holiday mode?
The highway pretenders scored their usual bully boy big score against the rudderless ANA with young Scorgie making runs again just like his father did in Merl’s youth so it obviously follows in the blood! We can’t even get the judge to comment on the tribunal anymore so maybe we will get a score out of him this week!!
Iron gloves just fell short of a ton and the cocobana beach mob may fancy themselves as they were the last mob to upset the jellies in the big dance! But they may need Brett in there to get the chocolates!!
Merl’s real Beach Boys came home to roost when they teed off on the Golf Club with the Brownlow favourite Bunting M picking up another ton while the unlikely Harris got a Watto! The BB could just stay in the club house and still win easily with that score.
Slim’s mob have left the door ajar for the tipless Brude’s mob although the Ommies will close it down in the field and make it difficult even on the run friendly panther ground.
At the new millionaires row with the two Wallet Park’s due to exchange currency a burst pipe and not sand according to Jimmy’s bugle called a halt to preceedings and we will have the one day big bash next week which could go either way.The new Wallet Park will need a win to justify their huge expenditure this year.
In the Bluff Road Cup
The big game at Merl exposure park ( aka The Brick ) Burgers’s mob have put a decent score on the board but my spies tell me the brick is as fast as Usain Bolt at the moment so if the sword,Hawy and even Vinnie get going they could make a fist of it.I did get in the Beemer and drive past the Brick today to see if there was a Bendigo Bank billboard erected with a picture and details of Merl’s identity provided by Burger and Jimmy but no cigar!!!
The RSL have not completely shut the door on the very quiet of late Uncle Mick’s mob who are more than capable of chasing down that moderate score on what is usually a very quick Memorial Oval at this time of the year. They are a definite chance!
The Champ’s 66 out of 236 at the George may not be enough if the inconsistent ANA get going but then again they may not get going and it will be enough!!
Saul & one of the Jammo’s mob have posted a feeble 183 at what is usually a lightning fast dog park oval and have given the pathetic purple and gold’s a chance to jump out of the relegation zone
The cococabana beach twos with Manakis P obviously losing a yard of pace with his run out for a paltry 4 have given the jellies twos a chance to get some points, but if the Harvey Norman big shot G Harvey can bowl like last week the boys from the new beach are a chance to keep the jellies off shore and anchored to the bottom.
The oasisless Bott put in a big 17 over stint to restrict Merl’s Cluden whose moderate score of 204 will be hard to defend but if the much acclaimed pace attack are on track it could be difficult for the widdop mob to get over the line.merl is predicting this one will go down to the wire.

No reports on Barrack's stint in the aqua blue but knowing him he would have got them all right and could look to promotion and even a possible finals birth!!

Sugar baby duties are obviously still preventing you to get the tips in but you need to get your priorities in order and when you get up for that early morning feed put a bit of thought into your tips as despite your mobs inconsistent performances you are up in the top 4 with your tips.

Burger & Jimmy I look forward to your thoughts on merl's identity as unlike the Jammos there is only one of me and as I have been a bit quiet of late I am not sure what has aroused your interest in the mystery that is Merlot.Burger's season long goal to expose Merl is running out of time and maybe the trip to the brick has proved fruitless yet again!!!!

Good luck in the search

Just noticed that I have hit the magical 200 BCF posts which I have enjoyed immensley in having a bit of fun with most of the posters. Thanks for the inter action

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

anyone can make big runs against cellar dwellers, anyone can take wickets against the rabble line ups......
do it against the top sides and your worthy.
100 against rabble or 5 wickets bowling to the blind aren't enough in my book.
there are to many bullies who can't take it up to the big boys, stop talking average efforts up, i'll say well done when i see it from now. ie: scott handley 19 overs 3/29 vs the real pretender, anton duddy 99 vs above ave bowling attack.....

The real pretender??? Big call considering their record against the Juggernaut over the past four seasons. Personally I thought it was a reasonable effort from kids playing their first season in the big league, including one that made his debut. It is the sign of a good team that can dig deep when in trouble and fight their way out of it to post a reasonable score. My thoughts about the achievement of the Juggernaut is on the record, however I have always suspected that there are teams that they would not like to meet in a final and the Oasis could be one of them.Archie believes his beloved Hoops will come good in the next couple of matches and make a late charge for the flag. Still have a lot of doubts about whether they have the mettle to stand up against a top team.On paper they have the line up, but as we all know you don't win flags on paper......:D

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Just hasn't quite clicked for WB yet has it Clock Man!! Nice half bottle Merl, glad I have been keeping abreast on BCF or I would really be struggling to keep up with the vast array of in-house references and would have no idea what you were on about. I do have a mild interest in your Peter Parker/Clark Kent/Bruce Banner/Bruce Wayne alter ego and am not sure exposure any closer "Burgs???" but there are a couple of others very keen to "make contact" with you.

The Oasis has a good record against the Juggernaut in recent times, but name another that would quantify the plural? They've been able to roll West Bentleigh & Brighton Union who most would consider to be the other big challengers in the big dances gone by. Omega are an intriguing prospect. The inexperience could crumble on centre stage or they might thrive knowing they have nothing to lose. Rumour has it a weary Slim Tim is on a mission..... even trying to hide in the bags of opposition camps these days.

As the scribe has told us the bottom 3 looks like an interesting fight for survival with East Sandy and Hampton United in the box seat of their encounters and due to face each other next round. Highett West vs ANA potentially the only fixture in Round 11 that will have no bearing on finals or relegation battles.

Yes they did beat WB last season however the weather ruined the match.
I suspect that the juggernaut were probably happy to avoid meeting Bentleigh Uniting in a Granny. The second semi final will ultimately determine the winner of the flag as it has for the past number of years. That extra week off is just so crucial in the current format.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Evening All,

Sugar no excuses, just the tips snuck in!Also I see from the ANA website you took home the bacon in the 20/20 at Cocobana Beach the home of the former lakers.Any chance of a blow by blow description!also how is the kid?

I hear from a woman on the tram that Barrack might have had over counter problems as early as the first over in his big comeback game. There goes his Longy promotion chances.A brother of the same woman advised there could be another big name to join the aqua blues!!!

While on big names I believe that a huge name from a BRC team has gone in the book at the royal ground!!

Uncle Mick my humble apologies for missing the fact that the left arm sliders accumulated 5 wickets to give the best from the west, to do a Teddy Whitten and stick it up a few doubters.I also see that the sticky figures in the team managed to hang on to a few which I am sure has made a big difference.

Jimmy

I am glad you enjoyed the half bottle ( but is not really in your bugle league class )as the full bottle will appear at the conclusion of the round.I am not sure why everyone is interested in a quiet insignificant little man who gets great pleasure from getting on the BCF and having a bit of fun.Unlike Hansel & gretel there is no bread crumb trail and the defeaning silence from Burger after his trip to the brick tells me he is no closer than ever to revealing the mystery.Maybe Vinnie set him straight, that I do not live at the brick.
I may just drop into the brick in the sun glasses and trench coat on the weekend to have a look at the big game!!

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Care to elaborate on the huge name? One can only assume the royal ground to be one fit for a King (George).

No need to apologise. No mean feat after we've been knocked out of finals contention. However, if you read the HWCC website (which for those who aren't aware is regularly updated), you'll see the catching problem is still prevalent. Law of averages says we were due for a game where we'd catch more than we drop.

In response to Clocker's last post, I can safely say in my time there they were comfortable with a Uniting match up should it have been the case. They were the front runners all season the year I was there. After losing to ESBC in round 11 so too went the double chance and a week later they were bundled out in the first week by Mackie. Speaking to WB folk as recently as Monday about last year's GF even without the rain interruption they weren't confident of themselves.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

I'm assuming Merl is talking about Stewie Campbell, who was reported when he was dismissed against us after he dislodged all 3 stumps when he was bowled.

'B' missed this game due to a work conference, they were hoping to win the toss and send the redbacks in, but someone obviously found out that B was only available the second week.

It was a good day down at Mackie's $1,000 day on Sunday. Caught up with Bottsy who seemed pretty confident they'll chase down Cluden's score.

Big run chase for us against Burgers boys, but as Merl alluded the 'brick' is indeed lightning quick, and with the inclusion of a very hungry for runs Leon McGaw and a couple of other in-form bats, we're hoping on nailing a very important victory.

Think you've overestimated Le Page's ground Merl, from all reports from our players and the Oasis boys the ground is indeed one of the lushest in the comp.So our 191 stacks up well and will take some running down.

OB,

Considering mackie's 2nd's are sitting forth and trying to hold onto a finals spot in Quiney, I wonder if communications were made and he was named to help them chase down CS's 289???? Hmm.....

You appear to be concerned Army, and rightly so with a Round 11 meeting against the Washups and defending a meagre 151 this week.Getting very tight.....

Ah Clock,

I wouldn't say I'm concerned, interested to see what happens perhaps but we are in control of our own destiny and if we are good enough then it is irrelevant to our aspirations really!

Yeah my golden quacker proberbly not helping much in our "meagre" 151 either....

Yes being dismissed first ball is the ultimate leveller, probably more so than any other sport I can think of....even poker. At least you can take your anger out with the ball...Quite right that if you win the last two then you do not have to rely on anyone else.If the big man does play then it is game over..Not sure that they would have been that organised to think that far ahead.
