Thanks Jimmy Olsen for your description of my batting as whirlwind on Saturday. It was so ' whirlwind ' that after 5 overs we were 0/0!

Can't get to every game Golf but having seen you perform and knowing you were out by mid-arvo I had to figure you a) elevated yourself up the order and b) played with your usual flamboyant style.
One might say you teed off but nothing wrong with working through the short irons early and getting your eye in before you pull out the Big Bertha!!!

It was that ugly the first few overs, that I was getting coached and sledged by Brudes at first slip. Evidently I had to put $2 into their end of season trip for every lousy shot I played. At the end of the day I was informed that I owe $10.
I was also getting plenty of advice from their spinner. Evidently I'm a D Grade hack and my batting was a charade.

Nothing like a bit of coaching when you are scratching around for a run.You claim everything even leg byes.I am sure you and the illustrious firm of Manning & Manning will return the compliment when Brudar has his turn at the crease. At least for the last round of the year you won't have to put up with Cedric nattering away, just put up with Sugar if he gets a chance at you. He has really settled down since becoming a father and has become the elder statesmen of the team trying to nuture a few of the young bucks. All these news stories about the antics of teachers at his former school has rattled him a little.Such a prestigious school being dragged through the mud is just not cricket. In my day it was just a straight out flogging by the Brothers.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

c'mon golf it was $2 bucks per poor sweep shot you played and after the first 3 overs i stopped counting at $10. I wouldn't calling it sledging, i would call it admiration of shot selection. Credit where credits due though you did hit a couple of straight sixes into that wind. Clocker hopefully it will be like last game and i will sit there with the pads on all day next in.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Evening All,

Brudes

Nice to see you are still alive and obviously lost interest in the tips. Not sure you will be sitting in the stands all day this week as I am sure the golfers will require you to put the pitching wedge to good use at some stage.Sounds like you had the same counting trouble as our leader Barrack and had to stop when you ran out of fingers.

Burgs,

As there is still no update on my cricket could you get your computer inputer to update the batting details and maybe you could confirm that BCF's very own Uncle Mick did get you with the ball of the century?

Sugar,

Thanks for your post mortem that's what we need from our man on the spot.

Vinnie,

That's what we need from you if you have now returned from your trip down the highway.Maybe Jimmy could give us some odds on you defending the 196
against the leaderless RSL!!!

Arch,

My good friend nice to have you back and tell the boss the BCF is far more important than any thing he can dish up!!

I'll gladly confirm this for you, Merl. After taking long enough that our boys were asking the umpire about the time out rule, Burgs spent longer getting to the crease than he did at the crease. Given the score at the time, it was a welcome wicket.... otherwise we'd probably be chasing around the 300 mark if he got going.
Ball of the century might be a stretch though......

Cheers Clocker,

Being educated from the best in Cedric Jansz, I haven't lost any passion in trying to 'buy' wickets with a bit of conversation on the field, and will take credit for claiming a handful this season through doing so. However I guess there's a time to keep your trap shut when you're being spanked from pillar to post, which has happened a bit too often this season. Having sad this, it's rewarding to teach such lessons to my younger teammates, most who have been part of ANA's Under 12 golden era under the guidance of myself and Adam Stone.

Speaking of my old school, I went to a Melbourne Football Club function late last year where it was all you can drink event. I happened to bump into fellow Grammarian Jack Watts, who was more than happy to strike a conversation when I said we went to the same school. In my drunkenness, I said "what's with all the pedo teachers there??" to which Jack Watts kindly asked for permission to leave the conversation and speak to someone else.

A good test in media training I thought.

LOL....Personally I would given him the 'do you know who I am'? I pay your wages.Probably not far from the truth last year.He will want to do well over the next few years. I don't think you will need an excuse to get into him.Where's Merlot when you need him?:D

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Plenty of gas left down at the 'brick' Merl.

I'd back our boys in with their backs against the wall, and it's one of the few times we've gone in with 5 bowlers, so that 160 might indeed come up to be more than competitive.
Look out for a match winning performance from Clemo, as he's due to take a game apart, and nothing would be sweeter to him than to rock up too M.Buntings 21st that night with a massive win under his belt.

Similarly we're confident of defending our 194 against Asp-Edi. We did let a golden opportunity slip with the bat after Snake and Hawry gave us a ripping start. But like the firsts we are predominantly a bowling side, and with plenty of options we think we can come through with a very important win!

Results so far look to be in our favour, let's just hope Saul and Jammo's mob can see off any outright loss too Uniting.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Evening All after a bucketfull of rain,

Sugar,

Nice to hear from you and I am not sure I would have quite engaged young Jack in a conversation about the strange types at the Alma Mater. But we need the young chap to grow up quickly and give Trengrove and Scully a bit of a helping hand as the Go Dees return to power.Clock be assurd I would have handled the situation impeccably and the young lad would have had no reason to leave my illustrious company!!!

Not sure about this footy in February business encroaching on our cricket season but not much we can do about it.

Vinnie,

Nice to hear from you as well probably just got back from the trip down the coast and you will have to turn around and go back again.

Good to see your confidence in not having to reload the gas bottle and while Huey has done you a favour with the torrential dump today I still feel you have the job ahead of you but cricket is a funny game anything can happen.

Uncle Mick,

Thanks for the clarification, but what was the method of dismissal against the Burgermiester!!

How would the speeches at M. Bunting's 21st go???
He would possibly do it himself & turn it into a testimonial night.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

I would like to know if it is true that WP have 2 new recruits for the all vital last 2 rounds one of which is done and dusted?

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Evening All,

Before I get on to the full bottle I have a few things to do.

Brudes this is a 2 way street you come on here asking for information and give us nothing in return. No tips, no post mortem, no how you won or lost.

Burgs was it a bruised back or a bruised ego after the ball of the century from our very own Uncle Mick?

Is it correct that the oasisless Bott was reunited with the oasis Bott at the Oasis on Saturday?

Vinnie I can smell the BBQ with two full gas bottles and a very intriguing last round for the two bottles!!Although I did notice you did a Burger and did not trouble the scorers last week.

No points given for the tie as no one picked it,Jimmy you forgot to tip the Omega v Elwood game, and Saul your lack of tipping was as pathetic as yours and Jammos mob's onfield performance.

The Merlot Full Bottle

Vinnie was right and General Slim out marshalled General Bunting at the Brick where the Beach Boys ran out of tunes and unfortunately for Marshall there were no birthday presents and no key to the four!!According to Jimmy's radio programe which I caught up with this week Clemo would have no breath left for speeches as he did some of his best oratory on field this week. When there backs are to the wall go with the boys from the brick!

The Highway Patrol sent the Ants back to their nest in a very disappointing performance from the red and blacks which was also replicated by the team carrying the same colours over at Subiaco!!

B's mob had a training run against ANA at the oasis and i suggest ANA sign Biggs before the Gold Coast come looking for him to join Gazza up at the G17!!

The boys from the new cocobana beach declared wallet park bankrupt again with another strong performance.Old man Chubba got another 4 to take his season tally to a handy 26 in a consistent effort from the pensioner!!Maybe Wallet Park could get a few of their Longmuir premiership team to pull on the whites next week when attending the big reunion bash!!

The Golfers blasted out of the bunker when they took care of their former Valentine suitor The Panthers with an easy win.Maybe merger talks could be reopened now that the pupil has taught the master a lesson?

The Millionaires are looking at a negative return on their huge investment when they let the jellies run over the top of them. Can they beat the Ants outright to get a return on their investment?

In the Bluff Rd Cup

Merl's own Cluden accounted for the troubled Highway patrol for a rare win against the traditional rivals. Will John Bennett get a seniors discount at the bar after the game?

Uncle Mick led the way to give Burg's mob a fright and again according to Jimmy's radio programe Uncle Mick was leading the charge of the best from the west when he was unluckily dismissed.A lack of depth has again hurt the petersen st team!!

The inconsistent cocobana beach twos gave Saul and one of the jammos mob a mother and father of a hiding with Tim Doherty collecting a Bo Derek haul of wickets in only his 3rd game at the beach this season after over coming injury. The skipper even got runs for a change and they will certainly be put to the sword to claim a spot in the four!!

The bottless/oasisless Moorabbin West had a picnic at the George with ANA running out of gas and succumbing meekly to the BRC ladder leaders.

Vinnie's mob got the job done as he told us they would but i have no details and will await Vinnie's overnight return from down the coast to be enlightened on how the win was achieved.

The jellies and the purple and golds tied but who cares!

I will provide a seperate post for the BTC

until the next post.................. vino sipping poster........... Merlot

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

The BTC reaches an exciting climax with the BBQ boy Vinnie joining one of the Jammos in the lead.In the case of a draw there will be no countback, drink off or bowl off ,they will share the title.

The title may come down to whether Vinnie's BBQ boys have enough gas in the tank to beat the cococabana beach boys in both games. If either of the two leaders want to private message their tips to keep the other one in suspense feel free to do so.

The former runaway leader who must be far too busy trying to track down his alter ego GK, has settled in third possy with the fast finishing oasisless bott taking Merl's spot in the four after Merl again made a few stupid selections.

Our statistical Wizard Clocker is holding us all up at the bottom of the pile and was only joined by Saul who failed to put his tips in.

I am considering running a finals tipping contest for all grades if you are interested. It could prove interesting as to what you know about the lower grades.Let me know of your interest when submitting this week's tips.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Yep your right Merlot it was one hellava hiding that Uniting gave our boys over the 2 weeks! Simply not good enough and we were totally outplayed. Young Doherty is a fine bowler who didn't really bowl a bad ball over the 40+ overs he sent done and rightly deserves his figures. His pace certainly shook up a few BD batters. I think he is good enough to be playing Longy Shield. Ive got a feeling Uniting are running into good form at the right time of the season and may just sneak into that 4th position.
I'll put my tips later in the week but as you stated I think the tips might come down to the Uniting v Omega games. Ive got a feeling I know who Vinnie will tip.......will I tip differently?

A quick look on the CMCA website yesterday would've given you some details, Merl. The Woolnough write up had a little bit on it, but I"m sure Vinnie can give us a more detailed account.

In our game; our new openers put on 50 (albeit in very slow time), before McInerney & myself got us up to around par at tea - I think we might've been just in front of Centrals score at tea the week before. We had about 5 good overs after tea before Maysie clipped his leg sending down a half-tracker which I tried to swat several times and it ballooned off the gloves to the former housemate - sufficed to say there was a few words in my direction as I trudged off.
Then we had another epic collapse as the skipper tried valiantly to keep us in the game with some quality stroke play at one end while the wickets tumbled at the other. Unfortunately, he was running out of parnters fast and went for one big shot too many to be the last wicket down with still over 50 to get and enough time to do it in.
Centrals should be ruing the amount of drop catches they had, but we let them off. I think our openers had 5 chances between them early. As usual UM never gets an early chance, but was put down when he clipped one straight to square leg 2 balls before he was out.
Full credit must go to Mssrs May & Gold who bowled really well at a crucial point in the game. Still yet to be convinced there's an outright flag favourite in Woolnough this year. Logic says that Hampton Central should have the edge in experience, but having seen first hand how they cope in the big games it opens the door to what should be an entertaining finals series.

Looking fwd to a big final round with some interesting games still to influence the final 4 make up and the potential for relegation.

Well if you check G grade Washup match you will notice that a L.Pickering came late in the day and made a valuable 104. A little coincidental. Looking at the Longy ladder it is interesting that someone at the CMCA has already given the points to the golfers.A little premature? What a great finish for the Woolnough. They will need a tough and seasoned aqua man to look after this game.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

It was indeed a great weekend for the club with both the 1's and 2's recording massive wins when all looked lost!

I think the most pleasing thing for both sides was that we did not have to rely on old heads like a Reimers in the 1's,or a Cruwys in the 2's too lead the way, instead it was Clemo and D'Amico both taking 4 fa's in the ones, and Fletcher taking a 4 fa in the two's. Pretty much the future of the club coming up trumps when we needed them most.

In the Longy game it was again our disciplined bowling and exceptional fielding that led the way after the birthday boy took a liking to Trimmer Reimers. With Clemo at one end and Dimma at the other, things suddenly turned in our favour and once 'Boom Boom' Beckett ran out Bunting the game was as good as over!
Great to see 'Boomer' back with the gloves and showing everyone that he's one of the best, if not the best 'keeper in Longy.

In Wooly it really was a game where the momentum swung countless times throughout both innings. While we were batting we got off to a cracking start(Haw and Slucki), then collapsed and then got going again (Holland and Fletcher) before falling in a heap at the end. Yes Merl I didn't trouble the scorers and unlike Burgs I didn't need a Uncle Mick special to get me out, instead I thought i could smash 'digby' onto the highway, into the wind. Unlucky!
Aspy Edi also started well even though we managed to get one of their gun bats early, but they consolidated and were cruising at 1-45 before we managed to snare some quick wickets and have them 4-88 at tea. After getting another wicket in the first over after the break, the next pair then managed to guide the score too 5-130 before 'Fletch' ripped the hearts out of their lower order and we managed to get the last 5 wickets for 20 odd.

We now have 4 of our 7 teams playing elimination finals this week whilst our One day side has cemented top spot.
