There are some Rumours doing the rounds that The Cobras have picked up 2 new players, and from memory one of them is Cory Pennant from Fairfield and i can not think of the other but he plays in the Quick Shield.

Anyone else heard of the Rumours????

Not mentioned at training tonight (Corey Pennent), so don't think that is true unless he is still to ask for a clearance. Bowls ok but can be short at times, but if switched on will get wickets. Slogger with the bat, so may score runs once or twice a year. Very good fielder. HAS not played for about 18 months. Would be there abouts for fairfields 1st side if trained. Handy back up player for any side. Big game for us this week. Lose to Donath and season may be over. Hill and haywood are the key wickets. Get them cheap and its game on. Hilly is on fire at the moment so will need to get him in early while ball is moving around. Azza has it coming out very well at the moment with the quick stuff and spin. Back him to get another bag this week.

batting we can cover but not keeping when he keeps up to every bowler in the side makes it hard 4 the batsman!

Re: NMCA(formerly Jika) '08/'09

Corey Pennant has been cleared to play for cobras andy grey yet to be confirmed nut word around is hes keen to head back home azza wheatley bowls ok at best with the amount of overs he bowls himself he shoud be getting bags of wickets based on shear amount of overs he bowls

Re: NMCA(formerly Jika) '08/'09

Just got back from the local and overheard a interesting convo on the import down at baseballers. He has told the club he wants out as he is not enjoying playing at the dugout. He and his manager are working very hard to get a clearance to another top club in jika shield.

Re: NMCA(formerly Jika) '08/'09

Looks like the Cobras are winners now picking up Two very handy players in the likes of Andy Grey and Corey Penent.

We must drink at the same local or the rumor is flying around. Heard the same thing but I heard it was Camera leading the pack. Now that may be fact or fiction but either way the shoe fits and it's one hell of a story. Could be another A grade flag based on cash.

any idea which one?? their stats this year suggest that its not really worth mentioning..................either way if any club expects to have an os recruit more than 2 seasons they are kidding themselves, it may happen but they are purely here for cash

This is great!" proclaimed victorious Northcote United captain Sammy Kandage after his side claimed first innings points against all the odds over the powerful Rosebank-North Brunswick in their Jika Shield encounter.

"This is great for the club, great for the players, great for everyone" the jubilant Sri Lankan skipper added.Northcote United, enjoying a good season, welcomed the strong Rosebank- North Brunswick to Alphington Park. The visiting line-up, minus Damian Sampimon, were all back in the pavilion dismissed for a lowly 87 in 59 overs last Saturday. Captain Tony Tenuta top scored with 22, with he and David Plumpton, Bruno Piraina and John Ioannou the only batsmen to reach double figures. Mahesh Kumara led the United attack, snaring a remarkable four wickets while conceding just six runs off the eleven overs bowled. Ben McNeice and Adam Marcon each claimed two Rosebank scalps.

After rain delayed the start and Rosebank CC refusing to take the field in the fear of losing, Northcote United resumed day two at 4/ 50 and claimed victory through the experienced Adrian Marcon belting a boundary to finish up making a very well compiled 45no, much to the delight of the supporters who packed the grandstand at the pituresque venue.

It certainly does look like its time for the next generation of cricketers to come through, with the young Keon Park side winning last years 07/08 premiership and Northcote United's team of youngsters getting off to a great start to the 08/09 season. We look forward to following the remainder of NUCC's First XI season

There junior program is reaping rewards. Trouble is they have no decent juniors, just some 48yo hacks who should be playing golf ona saturday. By the way who is that fatguy who fielded at 1st slip 2day and bats at 10. Not a very good example to there junior program, why dont they put a picture of that on there website and say "united we eat doughnuts"
