Re: Williamstown and District Cricket Association (WADCA)

Does anyone know if the WADCA will be getting any new clubs into the competition?
I heard a while ago a few of the sides that went to VTCA were keen to return.
Ive also heard a rumour that the Moreland Association might be folding, therefore Sunshine Heights and Sunshine YCW might be interested in joing the WADCA?
be interested to know if anyone else has heard these rumours?

The comp can only get bigger and stronger if this happens..

Re: Williamstown and District Cricket Association (WADCA)

heres hoping that happens. be good to have some more teams in the comp and get rid of the lesser teams.

I've heard maybe Old Westbourne might have a team in the lower grades of WDCA. most likely matting

the thing is the teams that will come back will be lesser teams, they will come back because they are geting thumped in B section, i watched a game where seabrook (1 of the teams prolly coming bak) got bowled out by underage medium pacers, they looked terrible, so i dont think much quality will come back into willy

Laverton played Seabrooke in a 20/20 game and made 220 and bowled them out for 100 odd. They had a couple of blokes that could possibly do some damage with the ball but couldnt see them making any runs.
Point Cook might be the go, although they dont have turf so they are no hope.

Most of the teams in A turf last season were fairly competitive besides rams. Where only 1 point was a difference in ladder standings between 5th and 8th place.

Deerpark/Ardeer helped the standard by going down to B Turf and l think Rams should follow the same route this season and maybe promote Point Cook if their willing to play all games away on Turf or include a new side willing to move comps.

If Seabrook were that bad last season , they probably should start of in the B Turf section if there interested comming back to the Willi comp.

To make the draw fairer would be good to get 12 sides in A turf, where each side plays each other once. Though if it means sides getting belted week in week out, better of leaving it at 10.

Any sides started preseason yet? ANA starts 3rd of Aug, picked up 3 players though may lose one or two to retirments. As to the ability of the new recruits no idea, will find out at preseason l guess. Couple of under 17s training with footscray, best of luck to those guys.

From my understanding Seabrook are staying in the VTCA, but there is a possibility of another former WDCA Club coming back from the VTCA. Hopefully they do as it will make the A-Turf Competition stronger.

Still to early to be thinking about pre-season!!

CYMS won't play wdca, nor would Sunshine United. Sunshine YCW perhaps as the MMVCA apparently is struggling.

I'm sure we will know soon enough as they will need to decide where they are playing soon.

Yeah doubt cyms would come back, thought they left because of GU in the frist place. YCW might if they want back in A turf, as to Sunshine Heights, havent heard anything at this stage. Werribbe Centrals may be a possibility, having so many teams.

they have struggled since comming back to the willi comp. Losing a couple of players hasnt helped their cause either. Didnt win a game last season.
Need to pick up some quality recruits to be competitive in A turf.

Mate they were going downhill when I coached them.I took them to a semi final in the churhes comp. When Woody went to Tassie the joint just fell apart.Maybe they should swallow their pride a play in B grade
