wel bcci wants that he is unbanned othewise the tour will be in danger.
but how can you label harbhajan a racist just going by symonds word. isnt it the same symonds that stayed batting when he got a healthy nick on the ball. the same symonds that appealed for dravids wicket even though it was clearly not anywhere near the bat. it shows that he is not honest. maybe he was just playing mind games with harbhajan. i remember symonds made some bad comments against india before the odi series started.

arguable both players have made racist comments against each other both should come clean of it

no dravids pad hit the ball the bat was hidden behind the pad.
but your right that they should come clean. symonds should accept if he said anything to harbhajan and harbhajan should tell us what he said to symonds. if he called him a monkey he should accept it and apologize so that there will be no arguments.

Yes if Harbhajan was punished Symonds should be punished because he would have said something too.

Its in the news that Bucknor and Benson will umpire in the next test too. ICC says that BCCI didnt file any complaint. BCCI are stupid. They had a press confrence and made claims and they havent even made a complain. I am shocked with this.

I know its from Andrew Symonds view but i think it gives a good account of what happened
I dont think that just because Symonds didnt walk that it makes him a dishonest person, he did walk the second time round, and RP Singh looked content with that. I think that its up to the umpires to decide whats out and whats not. i have complete respect for those that do walk, its just that as Jack Hobbs (one of the games true gentlemen) said, It is unfair to undermine the umpire.

Harbhajan does deserve to be punished but three matches (or whatever it is) is enough. Its ridiculous to say he should be banned forever because of one thing

Yeah, it could have just slipped out, spur of the moment. It shouldnt cost him his career because of one silly mistake, so 3 matches is plenty

Like you are willing to believe Symonds I am willing to believe Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin said that Harbhajan didn't call Symonds a monkey. Even the umpires said that they didnt see Harbhajan calling Symonds a monkey. The TV channels Channel 9 and ESPN said they didnt have any video footage or audio showing Harbhajan calling Symonds a monkey. So there is enough doubt. What I am angry about is that match referee said that he had no doubt what so ever that Harbhajan made racist comment to hurt Symonds. So he means Sachin is a liar and Harbhajan is a liar. I dont agree with that. I think Harbhajan should be punished but not for racism because there is no proof that he called symonds a monkey. He should be punished for having an argument with Symonds.

Its not that i trust Symonds more than Harbhajan, but i dont think i heard that Sachin Tendulkar hadnt heard the conversation and he was just trying to calm Harbhajan down, i think it was that there werent any witnesses, which makes it one mans word against anothers. The only reason i am pushing to believe Symonds is because:-
1) The recent history between Harbhajan and Symonds
2) Because something definitly was said to Symonds and i think it was serious
3) And Harbhajan tried to make ammends to Symonds at the end of the over, suggesting to me that he had something to feel guilty about

Well thats the way i see it, but its not up to me, its up to the ICC, and i completely see where you are coming from and i get what you are trying to say. theres no point getting into an argument over something we have nothing riding on bar national pride

of rasicm also or swearing at the indian players ?

You have good points. Well Harbhajan could be guilty but there is very less proof. How can the match referee make a statement like "I have no doubt that Harbhajan wanted to purposely hurt symonds and wanted to make a racial comment". That is very wrong. He should have given less punishment to Harbhajan and not labeled him racist. I think Symonds should have got fined because he also must have said somethings to harbhajan.

No i think it was just for calling Anil Kumble a B******d, i dont think he was being racist. this is really not what the game of cricket needs, 2 highly competitive countries who have played many a hard fought series, but played in good spirit mind you, over the decades, suddenly turn against one another because of something brought up by a section of crowd and carried on to the pitch. i just hope it doesnt get worse, that these two great teams forget what has happened in the past and go to perth with a clean slate each

I cant disagree with you there, he didnt say the right thing because there is doubt, no matter from whos point of view you look at it from.
But i think Symonds was just defending his team mate, i think thats where this whole problem arose from, a little slap on the bum then it exploded form there. but as i wasnt there i cant say for sure, none of us can.

yeah i hope they can forget about this. but i am not happy that the umpires wont be replaced. why does icc want a complain before the umpires have to be replaced. dont they have eyes. cant they see that the match suffered because of these poor decisions? i hope they replace bucknor. even though taufel is australian he is the best umpire and he should be the umpire in the next game.

Did Harbhajan mean to be insulting Lee but patting him? I think many people do that for fun. In the India Pakistan series Akhtar was also doing the same to Sachin. They were laughing about it. Lee should have said something if Harbhajan would do something offensive to to him.

Yes taufel is an excellent umpire, i think he is umpiring the south africa V west indies test matches :(
its dissapointing that such contraversey has come from one match and also dissapointing that people wont be able to see Harbhajan bowl at the two remaining tests, cos i think he adds agression to the india team.

I think if brett lee was upset about that incident he definatly would have shown it,which from what i heard,he wasnt

Well it got to Symonds, who suffice to say doesnt have a great relationship with Harbhajan. Maybe Harbhajan didnt mean anything by it, i couldnt say but im pretty sure it didnt get the right reception from Symonds. But shouldnt Harbhajan have left it at that, did he really need to retaliate and call Symonds to him to say 'something'? Oh and i never said he meant it to insult Brett Lee

But because the BCCI has made an appeal, the penalty wont have any affect till the ICC reviews it, so he will more than likely play in Perth, although it wont be the wisest move. Perth is a predominantly fast bowlers pitch right through to the end, so i dont think the spinners will have the greatest impact

there was no point for symonds to interfere if he wasnt insulting lee. why did he get angry at that? thats quite strange. in that article symonds says that 'it was not on' and he was 'sticking for his team mate'. but if his team mate wasnt insulted there was no point to do what he did. i agree that bhajji didnt handle it very well. whether he was racist i dont know but he did break the rules of the game and i belive symonds did that too.

Well said deer, maybe it was just a case of both of them over-reacting, it doesnt condone racism but it was stupid what both of them did. But i cant agree that Symonds broke the rules untill i can see what happened when he said something, i saw when Harbhajan called him over and from then on so im not in the best position to say if Symonds did anything wrong
